31st December 2021 at 10:25 pm #192486Us neutrals (as far as the title race is concerned) are just hoping someone does win that game. A draw is no good to anyone if we still want anything resembling a title race to last longer than December.

1st January 2022 at 7:42 am #192495Nil, what are you on about? If all you want to read is positivity about Liverpool, maybe you should look for a Liverpool forum.

1st January 2022 at 7:44 am #192496Ed@10:25pm y’day: Ed,it’s not over until the fat lady sings so you can never say never but it reality I think it’s unlikely that whoever were to win the Chelsea v Liverpool game will have too much of an impact on the title race.
City ammased 110 points across the whole of 2021 and are currently on a 10 game winning run for either of Chelsea or Liverpool to get back in to the title race no matter what happens on Sunday City will have to falter and hand on heart I can’t see them doing that the squad and the Manager are so strong.
Be great to see a 3/4 horse title race go down to the wire but we still look some way off that in the PL currently.

1st January 2022 at 8:49 am #192497Oh City are winning the league Nine. No doubt about it. Quite concerning to have a team winning the league as early as this. Every chance the PL becomes like the German league. Give it a few years and it will be Newcastle and City then everyone else π. Can we send them all off to an oil state Super League with PSG & Co?
I just mean that it would be better if one team won so they can at least keep it mildly interesting for another few weeks at least.

And they can take Puppyov’s mob with them, they can have their own “Money Doesn’t Matter” League, brought to you by American Express Black Diamond, the card with no limits, and Husqvarna Chainsaws, for when you have a body to chop and no other chainsaws will do…
Stick ’em all in the ME (with the occasional away day to Moscow)… see you later alligator!

1st January 2022 at 10:44 am #192501Thatβs it though Ed. How is anyone supposed to compete with city these days? Liverpool donβt spend money. City have a chest of cash, the best manager in the world and nearly two world class players for each position. They go on mad runs and itβs nearby impossible to challenge them as you nearly canβt drop any points at all. You can hardly even draw a game now.
It is getting boring. I donβt watch city unless itβs a tough away game as the game is nearly over after 20 minutes. They are hurt to good

1st January 2022 at 11:25 am #192502Just to make a small point.
This year we bought Grealish for a ridiculous Β£100m but including Ferran Torres recently to Barcelona we have made sales of approx Β£110m. And I think more sales to come in this month’s window and pretty sure no signings. So it isn’t just spend, spend spend as it used to be.
What matters is the quality of players bought but more importantly whether they fit into the manager’s system and not just an expensive name. Kane would have worked but Ronaldo wouldn’t.I think we might slip up today and right now I would take a point.
PS HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL

1st January 2022 at 12:00 pm #192503I get the element of realism at the moment, however wasn’t it not long ago a 3 horse race? Things can change. Look where Arsenal are now for example?
Manchester in the past have lost games out of the blue. They put everything in and have no. No team’s just going to see from afar and throw the towel in. You can’t do that. Equally on the other side of it, you can expect just to turn up and collect 3 points without having to graft for it and show your quality.

1st January 2022 at 12:10 pm #192504I still say realistically what ever the result Sunday, catching City will be difficult but on the same token, I can’t see them win all 18 of their remaining matches.
I do feel which is what ruffles me sometimes the defeatist talk when we’re approached half way through the season. Each year is the same. It’s hard to remain patient.
Afcon comes every year. The battle has been covid. The only resolve is an agreement between 2 managers to postpone the match. There are likely to be injuries. That comes with the territory and that’s why we have in place a Manager. He can’t always have at his disposal the tools he wants. Again that’s life. We need to be driven to compete and fight for every point and as long as 100% has been given, one can’t be too critical.

1st January 2022 at 12:11 pm #192505Adlab pep has spent so much in his tenure that there is no need to splash the cash now.
Itβs not just money. Itβs the manager and the quality of players aswell. They are on another level and should be winning everything in sight
