Sean, the midfield were outclassed because Chelsea’s midfield is better. If we had Thiago in there today, I think we would have some chance at competing. Overall though, at least my my opinion, I think we were just as good as Chelsea. I dont think either team really shined TBH. The game was entertaining because neither team was defending as well as they should and ok, credit to the mhrow balls etc, they arent easy.
Chucky, the only reason Mane stayed on the pitch is because the game was only starting. It’s not quite an England captain situation but we’ll have to accept it and move on.

2nd January 2022 at 6:46 pm #192811What happened to our more conservative βboringβ approach that won us the title? Weβve reverted back to rock n roll football which may be pleasing on the eye, but wonβt win you much. A few seasons back it was flagged up about us losing so many games after being 2 up. As Carra saying now, weβre seeing Liverpool under Klopp in year 1 to 2 again.

2nd January 2022 at 6:46 pm #192812AnonymousDepressing enough as it is, we have to accept that this wonderful 3 horse race… is not to be.
I still think that Liverpool and Chelsea are brilliant sides, they could win the CL. you never know. I think they had one recently, so it’s our turn though π

2nd January 2022 at 6:51 pm #192813AnonymousIt does seem that way Mikus. If you ever have any thoughts of why this is happening, I’d love to know. The gas leak season is a fair excuse and Van Djik;s horror injury is too but we’re well past that now, we have Fabinho in there too , so it’s a mystery.
Of course, we had Wijnaldum playing in pretty much every one of those games. He always offered a lot off and on the ball.
Don’t wanna make any kind of suggestion that that is the entire reason but it doesnt help when you let your most consistent players walk away like that.

2nd January 2022 at 6:57 pm #192815We have been ahead of 17 games and win 12. City have won 12 out of 12.
I agree mak about Thiago in there but we just keep throwing leads away. Kante is absolutely world class but I thought our midfield was terrible today especially hendo.
We have stood still we won the league with fuck all investment depending on the mines of Elliot and jones to cover for winji leaving etc
Agree mikuis. Great to watch but I was never confident at 2-0. We just canβt control Ghanaβs and itβs just gung ho which wonβt bring trophies

2nd January 2022 at 6:57 pm #192816I donβt know Mak. I wonder if because last season was a sort of write off and gloomy, Klopp has reverted back to very exciting football again to try to get us going again and lift us. And heβs maybe got a bit carried away.

2nd January 2022 at 6:59 pm #192817Added to that the bar is that high with City, you can maybe forgive him for over trying.

2nd January 2022 at 7:14 pm #192819AnonymousMikus, I really hope not but Klopp looked very kinda defeated there at times last season.
I was confident that we’d get our mojo back and I mean the entire thing. the defence etc… It just hasnt happened and whatever the reasons are, it’s a bit depressing but we are working well in many other ways and Thiago has been a great addition. We really missed him today and as Sean said about Chelsea’s midfield, they were better but they are better players.
Who was our Kovacic today? I think from that midfield, you’ll always have Fabinho as a top level player but without Thiago, that’s it then.
So we have Thiago and Fabinho as our TOP level players. I think we need 1 more.

2nd January 2022 at 7:48 pm #192823I don’t think that was a red. If that is a red we’re going to have to outlaw hands and arms being used when going up for headers

2nd January 2022 at 7:55 pm #192824AnonymousFair enough Foxy,. I’ll explain why I think it’s a red, I guess because it is a contact sport and I would often not have a massive issue with it but if you lead in with your elbow flat, with the only other joint being your shoulder.. that is basically putting your entire body weight into whatever that elbow hits.
It’s dangerous play. If I saw that happen to a Liverpool player, I’d be going mad.
Fair dues tot he Chelsea lads for not taking major issue with it. Better than me and Kane last week I think.
EDIT : when I speak of the join above, obviously it’s only the shoulder but what I am ge4tting at is the potential for mass+velocity to be absorbed or dissipated and there just isnt any in this type of situation.
Im not a physicist, so if someone out there knows how to put what im saying into better wording then by all means.
probably gonna call it there as Im absolutely knackered. NN and GG

he’s still very good but maybe we’re all watching for this godlike performance level, a bit too much.
I think the issue is midfield not protecting the defence. othersd say it’;s our high line and they might have a point in one aspect and that is that we dont pull the off-side trap as well as we used to.
food for thought NN.

3rd January 2022 at 9:44 am #192831Klopp has covid Chelsea man. Hope you enjoyed the game. Excellent game and great comeback by Chelsea who I thought in general, were excellent
Chabolah recovered after his mistake she was excellent. Fabhino really was left on his own for a good bit of the game. Milner did well for 25 min but Kante and kovacic dominated. Kelliher and tmiskas were very good and Salah goal was brilliant. Great game with some fantastic goals.

3rd January 2022 at 10:22 am #192832het there Sean and happy new year to you. Best Chelsea have played for a while and a gutsy comeback from 0-2 for sure. Not sure but I think both Liverpool and Chelsea still have to play City a 2nd time this season as we are only around half way so there is six points they can lose while our clubs can pick up 6. All of a sudden the chase to Round 38 has life in it. We have City within the next fortnight so we have to get the ball rolling. Chelsea have turned something like an eight point lead into a ten point deficit so anything is possible I guess. City must be unbackable odds now though as Liverpool will be minus three key players in Mane, Salah and Keita for, I think, 4 or 5 Premier League matches depending on their countries progress.

3rd January 2022 at 11:39 am #192834Ye they miss 5 games mate ,2 in the pl, Brentford and palace. To be honest there was no title race. Race usually happens in late march/April. Very difficult to compete with city and I would love us to win the carbao cup. Problem is I think tie could be over on Thursday as we have no team . If we can just get back to anfield still in the tie.
Give the cl a go aswell. League is done now but season is far from over.
