Never thought I’d say these words but (re top 4) Spurs really worry me. I maintain that I’m glad Utd didn’t go for Conte. I think he’d have given us a better short term lift than Rangnick is giving us but I think Rangnick was the right man to eventually instill the type of football we want to see longer term. I just think that task is much bigger than anyone realised. Conte is giving Spurs an instant lift though and they’re going to be very tough to get past for top 4. If Liverpool were to beat Chelsea tomorrow, I wouldn’t bet against Spurs finishing above Chelsea even.

1st January 2022 at 6:08 pm #192634This is the kind of thing that could unsettle things at Spurs, to other sides’ advantage. If Levy fails to stick to promises made to Conte, it the kind of thing that could make it all fall apart as Conte will not stand for it
Antonio Conte to @SkySport: "We need to talk about new signings, yes. When I was appointed, I was told that we would meet to talk about new signings. Now I have everything clear [on current team]". βͺοΈ #THFC
"Lukaku words? I feel great affection for him but he's Chelsea player".

1st January 2022 at 6:16 pm #192635Conte is revving up if he doesn’t get the financial support he thinks he deserves and he thinks Levy promised him the toys will come out of the pram.

1st January 2022 at 7:31 pm #192640With regards to Top4, 3 of our next 5 are against the Goonies, the Chav’s, and the Moneybags, let’s see where we’re sitting after that lot before we start popping the corks… but we’re certainly in the mix I reckon!

1st January 2022 at 7:34 pm #192641WHich also means we have 2 “Top6” games (YooUtd and LiVARberoOol) in our last 15 games of the season… not the hardest run-in, especially with the 3/4 new signings we should be getting from the 147/148 players we’re linked with…

1st January 2022 at 8:10 pm #192642Conte is an elite manager. One of the best around. Excellent manager. Not many managers last past 3 years and I know my Liverpool mates are delighted conte didnβt go to utd
Ragnick only makes sense Ed if Poch comes in or someone who plays that style of football or else your back to square one in the summer.

1st January 2022 at 8:33 pm #192644Chucks love you always mate for your optimism. Give a good honest decent account against those current higher up teams. Your manager to me is somebody who is trying to instill and has done so far in a ‘stand up for yourself and be counted’.

1st January 2022 at 8:37 pm #192645I feel the tools accompanied as Support for the officials is still at times hindrance than help. The Referee for me has a clear view on the pitch which isn’t like a 100 acres away so why he then overturns a decision when originally from human instinct, he’s called a Dive.
Pretty Grim. There are people for agenda reasons sadly that will support this ‘ways of working’. “Do I need to check the Monitor? I have been advised, but I will decline and stick to my original decision”

1st January 2022 at 8:39 pm #192647Steveo, you have a serious team playing excellent football, banker top 4 finish for Arsenal .
I can’t see Levy giving Conte the players he wants, so I don’t expect him to stay at Spurs beyond the end of this season, or possibly sooner.
Happy New Year everyone may you all have a good 2022._____________________________

1st January 2022 at 8:42 pm #192648When it comes to the Champions League, I see a more different facet and no-nonsense. A certain team on here more than others has got away with decisions.

He needs to clear some of those players out. He won’t get the time but that is what is required. It’s not that Utd havent got a good squad, it just seems to be a toxic environment.

2nd January 2022 at 11:19 am #192661By the way, having watched match of the day this morning, even though I might get some slagging, I think the penalty decisions were correct in today’s environment. Dion Dublin and Ian Wright just about agreed.
Years ago neither would have been given. I wouldn’t have given either but the shirt pull on Bernardo was “a clear and obvious error by the on field referee” so VAR says look at it. The other was certainly not clear and obvious. Still nobody will agree. Still think we were lucky and Arsenal were the better team. The only mitigation for us was three games in 7 days v Arsenal just one, plus missing players due to covid and injury. Four academy players on the bench.

A classic…published FOOTAGE of a metatarsal injury ………

2nd January 2022 at 11:50 am #192667Adlab, in principle I appreciate your logic on VAR’s intervention. I’m not sure what the final explanatory statement was to give Silva’s pen.
It makes you think how many footballers in the past have got away with shirt-pulling; Steve Bruce, Gary Pallister. An elbow here, a nudge there, no Penalty. In real time ironically, the Ref tells Silva to get up. Yet during VAR’s intervention, he is advised to check the monitor, a lot of time has been taken during this and in the end, a decision is overturned.
