I can see Conte’s point. I think aside Manchester City and maybe Liverpool, the rest of the Premier League rely on their key players and in essence their squad.

There are genuinely some good competitive teams that personally I respect and are a testament to the League. They don’t make up the numbers, but instead hold their identity and bring something to the table – value in top flight.

However to deliver to the optimum, your players need to be fit and the Manager should be able to hand pick rather than to be forced. I appreciate this cannot be achieved for every single game, but in my eyes, they are the lifeblood that will breed competition. You only have to look at Brighton tonight with Maupay back and Lamptey (good little player at right-back).

I see a bit of a two-tier split. In Manchester City’s defense of needing an abundance of premium quality is being able to compete for 4 competitions of which in reality only a small handful of clubs are able to do.

For years as Supporters we have called for a Winter Break. Why does it have to be forced though of a postponement through a Covid outbreak?

The Managers collectively collaborate and vote on a Wildcard as a proposal to the Premier League who I don’t necessarily doubt they would disagree.

Didn’t watch our game, but just seen the starting lineup we put out and clearly Rodgers had no aspirations in this game. Seriously, in that 11 he picked there are 3 players I would pick in our strongest 11.
Vestergard and Amartey as our CBs are a circus act and Albrighton as right back. We had no chance with that set up

Nil, I don’t think we can be included with City there. We have a brilliant first 11 but within that there are still key players, who bringing others in from a not so amazing squad, becomes problematic.

You saw how Spurs walked through us when we were missing 4 players? Ok, 3 of them were our entire midfield but of course the key man there was Fabinho. In defence, the key man is harder to pin down, as they are all at an incredible level but it’s never good to be without Trent or Van Dijk.

I think the quality of our team drops a lot if we’re without any of Alisson, Trent, Van Dijk, Fabinho or Salah. Sure, it’s 5 players but that’s the core of our team right there.

Mak, I do fully agree mate. That is the reality. I was reluctant to place us in that bracket albeit us being at the Top of the pile this time last year without Van Dijk and beating Palace 7-0.

I think we’re the closest to matching City, maybe Chelsea too.

I felt a disservice to Palace today and a ‘free hit’ for Spurs. That win takes them up to 5th. There’s got to be something in place to protect clubs when in difficult circumstances e.g. injuries and having to isolate for 10 days.

Two points I would like to make…

Spuds were also missing 5 “1st” teamers when we played LiVARberoOol last week, including our entire midfield.

Secondly, Palace named the exact same 18 against Spuds yesterday as they did in their previous “non-COVID” game…
