Spurs have appealed against Sons red card. I guess with all the confusion regarding the different events they are trying to get in to pay off the new stadium, they must have thought this was some kind of UFC royal rumble.

24th December 2019 at 8:40 am #57372well the mighty spuds have clamped down on the racism that marred the weekend game!
after many hours of CCTV footage and lip readers they finally…..arrested a Chelsea supporter for racism towards the thug that is Son!
seems they cant find anyone doing monky chants and movements (not sure how much use a lip reader is for that any way?)
well done spuds!

24th December 2019 at 11:27 am #57378Stevo – it was a fellow Chelsea supporter that reported the racist.

24th December 2019 at 11:31 am #57379yes i know mate and it still needs dealing with, it was just mildly amusing that the stadium announcements (3) were for mokey chanting and for that it should be easy to spot on tv and without the aid of a lip reader! and also the fact that the “investigation” by the spuds so far has only resulted in Chelsea arrest….

24th December 2019 at 12:58 pm #57381Decent fans reporting these low life’s has to be encouraged it’s the best way to police it and anyone found guilty has to be given a lifetime ban be it a Chelsea fan a Spurs fan or the fans on any other Clubs. Over time these idiots will then realise there’s no hiding place even in a big crowd
I heard a Spurs fan on Talksport this morning trying to claim he was there and the Rudiger racial abuse incident didn’t happen which is pretty ridiculous really in a ground that holds over 60,000 nobody can claim that one way or other and even though Spurs are allegedly struggling to find the culprit/culprits?
The alleged incident happened just after the Son/ Rudiger coming together so it’s quite likely Spurs fans weren’t feeling very positive towards Rudiger with Son sent off and why would Rudiger make it up?
Perhaps the can full of drink thrown at Kepa was just an apparition too.
I’m not digging Spurs fans out over any of this though we all have our idiots and decent Spurs fans especially those on here shouldn’t be tarred with the same brush.

24th December 2019 at 2:09 pm #57385“We can confirm that we have identified and issued an immediate ban to the individual responsible for throwing a cup at Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga during Sunday’s Premier League home fixture,” the club said in a statement here
โWe shall continue to take the strongest action possible against anyone found to be behaving in this way.โ
Good on Spurs!

24th December 2019 at 5:15 pm #57387The thing worse than racism is those that cover up racism to defend themselves or their club. We’ve all seen it recently in italy and in east Europe with england. It’s great that regular fans will report the culprits but higher authorities need to take responsibility and nothing will do until they do.

26th December 2019 at 9:23 am #57397Qatar might have knocked a bit out of us but there is no doubt that the fixtures are kind to us over Christmas compared to others
Wolves play city the 27th then us the 29th.
City have two games in 48 hours. Itโs maddness. As a fan I love allthe football but itโs unfair on certain teams.
Injuries are hitting us hard now and tonight is a very tough game
Enjoy the footy lads

26th December 2019 at 10:13 am #57402The FA and TV have a lot to answer for. The fixture list is madness not just for the players but the fans as well but the over riding thing is football is made for global TV now

27th December 2019 at 7:46 am #57435Christmas Day 1957 was the last with a full league programme. The arrival of floodlights and evening games had removed the need for fixtures to be squeezed into public holidays, and many fans were preferring to stay at home with their families on Christmas Day. In the First Division on December 25, 1957, Blackpool beat Leicester 5-1, Manchester United beat Luton 3-0, and Sheffield Wednesday and Preston drew 4-4. Chelsea beat Portsmouth 7-4, with 17-year-old Jimmy Greaves scoring four for the Blues.
Coventryโs match at Newport was abandoned due to a snowstorm, and the return match postponed. The Guardian subsequently referred them as โthe club that Santa Claus forgotโ
In 1958 there were only three First Division matches played on December 25, and in 1959 just one. The last English League match played on Christmas Day was Blackpool versus Blackburn in 1965. A crowd of 21,000 turned up to see Blackpool win 4-2. In Scotland, where Christmas Day football wasnโt as big a tradition as it was in England, football was only played when December 25 happened to be a Saturday. The last matches played were Clydebank versus St Mirren (2-2) and Alloa versus Cowdenbeath (2-1) in 1976.
A planned revival of Christmas Day matches failed in 1983. Third Division Brentford had arranged to play Wimbledon at 11am on Christmas morning.
โWe hope to revive the old tradition of the husband going to football on Christmas Day while the wives cook the turkey,โ said Brentford official Eric White. However, the rather sexist plan backfired, and protests by both sets of fans saw the match brought forward to Christmas Eve. Wimbledon won 4-3.
Four Four Two.

27th December 2019 at 11:07 am #57442stevensmakeeyes…back in the late 40’s early 50’s I watched City play Plymouth on a Christmas morning, which was unusual in itself, the reason was both teams travelled back to Plymouth for the return game on Boxing’s day. My view on the congestion topic, teams have squads now and the general fitness of players is at a higher level so I think all Pro footballers should be capable of plating two games a week. What is not acceptable is the time in between matches we have to day, It is not fair to players OR fans

27th December 2019 at 8:41 pm #57474Two words for this game and the referee and the VAR.
TOTAL FARCE.
Even though we are one up. Ederson should not have got a red card. IMO.
WHY is the ref not looking at the monitor. The game has been ruined whatever the result._____________________________

28th December 2019 at 8:30 am #57501Unfortunately for City undoubtedly the red card changed the game as did Mendy.
But if you come rushing out of your area like that and bring a player down who has a goal scoring chance unfortunately the rules say a red card.
