As far as the peno goes. the arm was away from the body when the ball hit it, and the ball was heading right into the meat grinder as far as I’m concerned, so an obvious peno. I’d be livid if my boys didn’t get and bloody grateful to the footballing gods (I’d be sacrificing my Saturday night kebab in their honor!) if my team got away with it.

It’s not so much about whether it hit his arm and where it was going. It’s a case of whether he made an unnatural movement to stop the ball with his arm. As he was falling, there was very little he could do but put his arm down.

If you check the laws it probably was a correct call! Its not handball if:

The ball touches a player’s hand/arm when it is above their shoulder (unless the player has deliberately played the ball which then touches their hand/arm)
The following will not usually be a free kick, unless they are one of the above situations:
The ball touches a player’s hand/arm directly from their own head/body/foot or the head/body/foot of another player who is close/near [this would now put Moussa Sissoko’s opening-minute penalty in serious doubt, as it hit his chest before redirecting off his arm, although one could still argue it “made his body unnaturally bigger” which would still qualify it as a foul]
The ball touches a player’s hand/arm which is close to their body and has not made their body unnaturally bigger
If a player is falling and the ball touches their hand/arm when it is between their body and the ground to support the body (but not extended to make the body bigger)
If the goalkeeper attempts to ‘clear’ (release into play) a throw-in or deliberate kick from a team-mate but the ‘clearance’ fails, the goalkeeper can then handle the ball

How the hell could the guy have done more to prevent his arm from causing a penalty? He clearly tried to keep it as much as possible out of the way. N. E. V. E. R. A. P. E. N. A. L. T. Y

Still I wouldn’t be surprised to see City pull back an win 3-2.
They are poor at the back at the moment, they are an ageing team, but they still have shedloads of quality.

Adlab as srd said he cant really do anything about his arms. Handball is given for deliberate (which rarely actually happen) or by putting them in an unnatural position like doing a star jump when someone shoots.
