Nine..I think you are right, Liverpool fans should sit back and enjoy the ride. They have a powerful team, well managed and motivated that is more than half the requirement needed. The only thing that could blow them off course is injuries or suspensions. Of course City and leicester will not give up the chase but it is just the same for them, more injuries for City or Leicester have a wobble and Liverpool maintain the gap and the games gets less to do anything about it. Just sit back and enjoy the game guys. This is good for football

10th December 2019 at 2:35 pm #56311As I was saying to Nil some days back, you have to expect both Foxy Ladies and the Cuties are each going to drop at least another 10/12 points this season, easy, so in effect LiberoOol’s are playing with about 20 points… that’s 7 loses… and as much as I would love to see that happen, I really would (mainly for the entertainment on here it must be said!) I think there’s more chance of me waking up tomorrow with a 24 year old version of Belinda in my bed…

10th December 2019 at 3:30 pm #56323Anonymous“Just relax and try and enjoy it buddie. Cheers 9’s”
You know yourself, you’ve had title challenges and of course successful title runs. For us PL era Liverpool fans, we’ve had only challenges. We’re kinda waiting for that banana peel called reality. It’s definitely not easy to enjoy the thought of “PL title this season?”. I find it much much easier to just enjoy things game by game and it’s also probably more productive for the lads to think of things that way too.
I won’t relax until we get the away game at Leicester behind us though. If we win that and the other games around it, who knows, maybe I’ll be more receptive to the kind of talk on here. No Promises but ya…

10th December 2019 at 3:34 pm #56324Mak-We all know there are no easy games in the PL,Liverpool just has to focus on winning their own games, but there is so much footie left to be played for everyone.

10th December 2019 at 5:12 pm #56328AnonymousDirtyHarry, I never thought he would. As ye might know, I think he’s the weakest member of the first 11 but that is mostly down to an insanely strong 11. I still rate hendo in a “good squad player” way, well that was the line anyway, before Fabinho allowed him to express himself a bit more again (Rodgers era) and he’s definitely been important for us. He’s setup some of our best goals, in fairness to him and one there recently where Mane should have done better.
I imagine I’ll get abuse from some if/when hendo does eventually raise the Pl trophy over his head but I’ll gladly admit that i was partially wrong about him. I say partially because I still do not rate him at all as a DM, when some of the people who I have had arguments about him before, did.
As a leader, he’s really grown into the role. This is his main value now I think. Before last season, I’d not have blinked before handing the armband to Van Dijk but you’ve got to love the way he lifted the CL, right? Gives me shivers every time.
On the whole topic of Hendo though, I feel like it is/was too entrenched a discussion. I found myself over-stating things, or just full on OTT to wind up Bingo (over on TT).
I will admit that one time, I never thought we’d win the PL with him as captain. It obviously hasn’t happened yet but if you look at last seaosn’s 97 points, that is still way above the marker I;’d have had in mind. I mean, that wins the English top division every season except 2, in history/… I guess I’m happy to be wrong.

10th December 2019 at 5:15 pm #56329AnonymousMav, I think he should be sacked TBH. He’s got a pretty good team there and he’s getting so little from them. I mean, Rafa is over in China and this is going on over here… imagine what he’d get from West Ham, with some of his own pick of players too.

10th December 2019 at 5:22 pm #56332Mak, Leicester away will be a tricky away game for any team including Liverpool personally I don’t think Leicester will stay the course and will ultimately fall away and finish in 3rd place but we’ll see.
You’re right speaking from experience you never really enjoy a title challenge until your 6 points clear with one game to go and I understand that Liverpool fans don’t want to count their chickens but neutral fans don’t have that problem and call it like they see it and very few neutral fans if any can only see a Liverpool title win.
As a neutral I would love to see it develop into a three horse race but I really can’t see that happening.

10th December 2019 at 9:31 pm #56369I don’t generally and see a problem on here about how people see the Title Race shape up or unfold.
It’s the Media. It’s essentially their DNA and all this comes with the Territory. They have to have a consistent revolving door of excitement or a level of interest which means things changing and things happening.
The Club Managers in the entirety of the Prem are sensible and will naturally align themselves into saying “see where the next game takes us”. In the public eye, they show respect to their opposition too.
Our players have to adopt that attitude and mentality in the first place and understand that they have to cover each blade of grass and fight to get something.

11th December 2019 at 3:28 am #56379AnonymousI don’t have a problem with how people see it either. That might sound in complete contrast to what I’ve been saying here but let me explain. There is a difference between believing something and trying to convince another person of this belief.
When it comes to football, this is further complicated by the up and down , fickle side to the game. Yes, Liverpool are off to an absolute flier in terms of results but who have we blown away this season, besides Everton? I talked on Youtube (of all places) of Klopp’s step back from Rock N Roll football actually being one reason for our current, more successful time in terms of points acquired. I’d definitely be on for opening up this topic but perhaps another time. It’s a worthy discussion though for sure, as I think it would actually make some feel that I was maybe taking away from Klopp by suggesting that a major part of the reason for our lack of many losses comes down to league management. Game management, spread over a season.
He likes to have a small squad and doesn’t like to change the first 11 at all. I think a lot of what has developed of him as a manager has come from the desire to keep the same small group together. Maybe it;s just me but I’ll leave it, much later than I said I would… 😛
Anyway, if the neutrals and even rivals on here want to support our drive towards a PL title, I’m more than welcoming and kinda warmed by the thought. Most of you have watched your team win the PL and you’re seemingly on board with a team who you feel is worth of it, opposition regardless.
I will say though, that there is another side to this coin and it is the “they’ve bottled it” thing. With it being not even half way through, the calls for the ribbons to be attached are premature and a run of good form from one team could be matched or bettered, drastically, by another.
I’m not upset that people want to say how odds on we are to win it, I will however refuse all efforts to call the title done and dusted, I will refuse to acknowledge that it’s Liverpool’s bar a major F up. 1 loss in 54 is a very great and long spell but it’s not even slightly relevant when the first ball is kicked against Leicester away, who have BTW, won every single game since we last played them.
So, I wanted to come in and say that I appreciate the support (especially you Mav, since yer Utd and it shouldn’t make sense at all!)… but let’s stop calling the 38 games played.

11th December 2019 at 12:44 pm #56410Sorry Micky, it can’t be done, it’s all over cyber chum. Sure, it’s not “mathematically” impossible, but if the LiberoOol’s don’t win it now, you’ll be breaking all sorts of incredibly bad records which nobody would want on their school report. Don’t get me wrong, fully understand why you guys don’t want to crow about it, but I think asking everybody else not too is a bit much!! Just accept it, you lot are Champions!! Get used to it!!! 🙂
P.S. Having already given my “congratulations” several weeks ago, don’t expect any more next March or whenever it’s “mathematically” secured!! 🙂
