“I get that as a Liverpool fan you want your Club to win it and thereβs kudos in being able to call Liverpool World Club Champions but if it were to threaten Liverpool winning the PL title would it really have been worth it personally I donβt think it would be.”
It’s a great question and although I am bang on in line with Sean in wanting to win it. Nine, my motivations do lie in being able to call Liverpool “World Champions”. I mean, it’s just a title but it’s one we’ve never actually had, even though we’ve been European Champions 6 times.
It comes at a time when we have a lot of other games. We play Leicester right after the final (assuming we make it) and have a LC game, which I think we can definitely sacrifice. I wouldn’t want Klopp to risk the Leicester game just for this title, I mean, I think we can do both if we have a measured approach to the final. As in, only play the stars who are fresh, We’ve recently rested the top lads here or there though, so Fatigue shouldn’t be as much of a problem as you might think.
I also think we’ll have the quality to take players off early, as we’re light years ahead of South America in terms of over-all quality. Of course it doesn’t always work out this way and I am expecting them to be more motivated perhaps for this game than us and it’s definitely a factor but I like what I’ve been seeing so far with regards to rotation and I completely trust Klopp and his team to get the job done without sacrificing the PL.
We’ll also have to be just a little lucky with regards to injuries etc but this is needed whenever anyone trains, or plays anywhere.

10th December 2019 at 6:16 am #56272βGo out against Bayern Munichβ β Gary Neville tells Liverpool to give up on Champions League and prioritise the Premier League’
Good job we didn’t listen to him! Last season we won the CL and still maintained incredible league form so I think a couple of matches in Qatar won’t derail Liverpool’s challenge too much.
Having said that I am sure if we lose to LCFC then people will blame the CWC without thinking it could be that we may of just lost anyway. I say go for it, bring back the trophy and hope the winning mentality carries the team forward to more success.

10th December 2019 at 7:24 am #56273AnonymousIf we lose that one single game against Leicester, the entire story out of everyone’s mouths changes. People on here will no longer be congratulating us on winning the PL. The media have been doing the exact same, that would all end.
You have really got to stop and ask yourselves, if the result of a single match (against a team on an 8 win streak) before we’re even half way through the season can have such a profound effect on where you see the title going, are you really being honest with yourselves, or are you getting carried away?
The funny thing about this is, I’m not saying it to a single Liverpool fan. The “our year” meme has been replaced by the “their year”.
I will say one thing, I’m glad that Rafa isn’t in charge of a top PL side. He let out a flash of the kind of detail that he was known for. When talking about the build up to goals, he is going into the shape of the defenders bodies… You know, I had heard years ago that he had worked like this with Torres in order to get him to be a few yards further up the pitch at certain times and it changed his entire world really. Torres running onto the ball was the devastating Torres. I never believed that he was as burnt out as was suggested by his form for Chelsea. They constantly played the ball to his feet, had him trying to play with his back to goal even…
I digress, as usual.. The season is not over. Don’t fall for this trap.

10th December 2019 at 8:23 am #56276Mak, but very few if any have congratulated Liverpool on winning the title the view on here is that Liverpool will win it without they duck it up or suffer a terrible injury crisis which given that Liverpool have just lost one of their last 54 PL games seems pretty sensible to me and yes there are questions about whether Leicester will keep their current form up and whether they may be punching above their weight.
Leicester are a very good team but I still think they will finish behind City come the end of the season.
If people were actually tipping Leicester to win it you would be upset and because they are tipping Liverpool to win it you are seemingly upset too.
Just enjoy the ride mate and wait and see where it takes you.

10th December 2019 at 8:45 am #56278……. by the way when Rafa managed Chelsea even be couldn’t get a consistent tune out of Torres brilliant player on his day but those days were primarily at Liverpool and as his records demonstrate he had erratic goal scoring seasons and had lost a yard of pace by the time he arrived at Chelsea a bit like Michael Owen injuries did for him.
But Torres still scored that goal in the Camp Nou which secured Chelsea their CL Final place in 2012 and he won the corner for the Drogba equaliser in the 2012 CL Final v Bayern too and the rest as they say is history so Β£50m well spent imo!?

There is a difference between tipping Liverpool to win it and saying it’s theirs , or it’s theirs unless they have a massive collapse etc etc etc. Ya, they’ve lost 1 in 54, that’s amazing but it was a spell of 5 draws last season that lost them the title. That’s 10 points right there.
For one, Im not upset about anyone saying anything here, this term in itself is dramatizing the situation, which is kind of ironic because that’s kinda what I’m going on about regards the nature of recent discussions. I’m just tellin ye that it’s nowhere near as solid as is being suggested, nothing more. If you think Im upset then copy and paste the parts where you get this notion from.

10th December 2019 at 9:42 am #56287Stevo, Freddie was joint favourite for the Arsenal job before last night’s win alongside Allegri. Whose your money on now rather than who you want to takeover allegedly Edu favours Vierra.

10th December 2019 at 9:46 am #56288i havent the faintest idea, names keep getting badied about, i dont want Freddie, to early…dont want Viera, to early….of those left it HAS to be Allegri, but with our board it could end up being Big Sam if he does a powerpoint presentation π will just wait to see who it is and hope for the best, they should have nailed Allegri by now, he is free, promised him what he wants to get the club back, but the “process” they are following and the names being linked are underwhelming at best and not waht a club in real crisis needs

10th December 2019 at 10:16 am #562893ps, I’m more better at not being swayed with the tide and especially from people like Gary Neville no matter how ‘credible’ they may seem to others. We’re still in all competitions and will be following through the itinerary.
I don’t think the Leicester game is be all and end all but you know what some people out there are like, especially the media!
There’s still 22 matches. Even if we were to win that game, it doesn’t crown us Champions at all. I see the possibility of Leicester being a smokescreen to Man City gradually fighting their way back.

10th December 2019 at 10:49 am #56294Think Pepe needs to do a lot more for a lot longer to be hailed with “what a player!”. Big let down for such a big price. Heard a lot of good things about Martinelli however.

10th December 2019 at 10:49 am #56295Mak as I said yesterday “Of course nobody can say itβs over not with 66 points still to play for but it would take a collapse of Newcastle type proportions for Liverpool not to win it from here.” And the latest title odds seem to confirm that.
Liverpool
1/7
Manchester City
7/1
Leicester
14/1Just relax and try and enjoy it buddie. Cheers 9’s

10th December 2019 at 10:52 am #56296Martinelli is the real bright spark and a true bargain, hence why id be less worried if we sold Aub or Laca in January or summer and used the cash to strengthen the defence! hopefully Edu knows a few more decent young brazillians, we could do with a Gilberto too!
Pepe alwasy had the ability he wasnt helped moving to a new league and being used wrong in an increasingly dispondent and weak and toxic team, even without that many players need time to settle, we have made it worse, he is a top player and will do much more under the right coach, if he played for a Klopp or a PEp you would see so much more_____________________________

10th December 2019 at 2:05 pm #56307you may be right, i just think its a tough ask to swap teams, league, country and walk in to the shit show we have going on since the end of last season and getting worse day by day, he has shown glimpses of talent, certainly needs more application but again, needs time, a SERIOUS manager and serious coaching and some stability with a known 1st 11 that play week in week out…i think he has all the talent in the world and if you had him he would have shown more already but still need time to get right to the top
