Leicester have one massive advantage and that’s they are not in Europe.
At some stage all these games will catch up with us and we will have a blip. It’s how long that blip determines how we will end up
It’s the best position we have ever been in
Last season our blip came at end of jan and ended on 2nd March when we drew with Everton. We dropped 8 points in that period
It’s an absolutely huge few weeks for us coming up
Massive massive game tomorrow. Watford then the world championship which I so badly want us to win
Be very interesting to see how things are after the 2nd jan when we play sheff utd

9th December 2019 at 9:20 am #56075“It’s the best position we have ever been in.” That’s about the size of it Sean and “being a world class team” I’m sure Liverpool have enough points and enough about them to get over the line.

9th December 2019 at 11:04 am #56079Its Sean’s pet name for City.
Or could just be one of his typos, not sure.

9th December 2019 at 11:04 am #56080Waspy-If I were Klopp I would not take the entire senior squad to the world club comps, surely the league title takes priority? I have no idea if he is allowed to do that, but I would leave VVD,Mane,Salah,Gigi,Robertson,Firminho, home, and would take Allison,Lovren,Shaqiri,Milner,Llallana,Origi,Gomez,Keita, and the rest junior players.I would also play an entire 11 of youth in the Qarabao Cup vs Villa.

9th December 2019 at 11:08 am #56081With January being just around the corner I would expect Klopp to be very active, even if its a few load additions to the squad.

9th December 2019 at 11:12 am #56082Anonymousgjblues, that’s something I spoke about a few times previously. I don’t know much about this Rodri guy though, so I am not talking about that part of things but more the fact that willfully playing Fernandinho at CB is almost like losing 2 players. That is not a reason to only have 3 CBs, it should be an absolute last case scenario when your 4 or 5 CB’s have been taken out of the game.
Like, Liverpool have had to play Fabinho at CB once or twice but that scenario only comes about if Gomez, Lovren or Matip injured at the same time. That’s 3 CB’s on the one side and it’s happened to us, so of course City were going to at some stage be drawn into this scenario. You’re just asking for it really.
Maybe it’s just me but I think European playing PL sides need to have 5 CB’s and was at times a bit annoyed that Klopp wouldn’t go and get another. Get in a Klavan level of player who is content to almost never play but if called upon, can actually do the job without sacrificing another key role.

9th December 2019 at 11:27 am #56084AnonymousI’m glad to see I’m not the only one who noticed Sean’s hilarious typo. Well, that or a savage burn, I can’t tell. Maybe he thinks they look adorable from all the way up here? (jk)
In all seriousness, of course we will have a blip at some stage. I think Klopp has learned to respect the physical demands of the PL over the past 2 years in particular, pacing his side a bit better. If you lads remember a few season’s ago, we were all fire and heart but we burnt out hard in January. This was before we signed Salah and Mane was starting to show wear.
Now we’ve found this kind of weird balance where we only put in the minimum effort required to get the points. Well that’s how it seems to me anyway. It’s this or Klopp is the luckiest manager in the history of the game.
He likes to have as small a squad as possible though and in order to maintain this whilst harbouring ambitions for a title in the PL, sacrifices have got to be made. The “heavy metal” brand of football is gone out of the first half of our seasons and I think as it goes, this is ramped up where required. I think the intensity increases once we’re beyond the winter busy schedule. I expect to see the same again this time. Of course we have some players who can come in for the likes of Salah and Mane and do a decent job now, so we can do more than just lower the intensity, in order to keep our lads fresh.
This is all very positive sounding stuff but maybe we can look back at that awful tackle from Chodury (or whatever his name is) on Salah in the Leicester game and realise how impactful it could have been to the table, had it done more damage? I think Salah has been able to finally shake it, thanks to the international break followed by some time out of the side after. It’s one thing covering for Salah or Mane for a game or 2 but I don’t like to think what would happen to our form were we to lose either or both for a few months, like what City have gone through with various stars….

9th December 2019 at 1:46 pm #56183Sorry lads it’s all typos !
Mav, I badly want us to win the World Club cup. It’s a cup and one which is recognised and we have never won it
When you are doing well you have to deal with all these games chum
The villa squad is all young players mate. Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliot abd a few others will travel to Qatar after villa game
I’m just enjoying all these games and these times. The league is absolutely top priority but get through these next phase of games and concentrate on the league

9th December 2019 at 2:31 pm #56185Sean, is the World Club Championship really that recognised though Sean. Look at this year’s participants apart from Liverpool and perhaps Flamengo who lost 4 nil to Santos yesterday who are they.
I get that as a Liverpool fan you want your Club to win it and there’s kudos in being able to call Liverpool World Club Champions but if it were to threaten Liverpool winning the PL title would it really have been worth it personally I don’t think it would be.
Having said that all the very best in Qatar.

9th December 2019 at 2:39 pm #56188I do have to agree with 9 and Sean on this, which is strange as they hold differing views. To win the FCWC would be fantastic as it’s so hard to qualify for. I am apprehensive however due to our congested fixture schedule, and how important it is to end our 30 year wait for the PL. No easy answers at the top unfortunately, but at least if we do fall short in the league, we have our excuses made and ready to go.

9th December 2019 at 3:11 pm #56196See what happens with the Etihad game.
I think without being dismissive of Leicester’s capabilities, they’re more reliant on Vardy.
Van Dijk should be able to resist him.
I also think we’ll set up more conservatively, though we now proved we can positively implement change and add a variation of tactics to our game.⚽️⚽️⚽️

9th December 2019 at 5:09 pm #56211Yes it really is recognised mine as you have to win the cl to qualify for it
Every time I see Zidannes name mentioned they always include the 4 world club championships in it
Utd pulled out of the fa cup to compete it. It’s a triphy for me and will go on the anfield wall like the 4 super cups are if we win it
We were gutted not to win it in 05
But nine I totally understand what you are saying mate. I really hope it doesn’t interfere with the pl but most liveroool fans I know, want to badly win it_____________________________

9th December 2019 at 5:14 pm #56216I’d rather ensure we have the league wrapped up. The club World Cup is a bonus, a nice thing to have. But nobody goes into a new season primarily targeting that trophy. It’s an afterthought.
