Just a point on Pep’s reign.
This City team and the way they’ve often played and the level they’ve played to has not been seen in the PL before and speaking as a Chelsea fan it’s been a real pleasure to watch City at times.
Trophies aside that’s not failure imo.

There has been an arrest of a 41 year old man.

8th December 2019 at 12:43 pm #56018I think Ole now has done enough to keep his job. Not every result will turn out to be a win, but I think he needs time to embed his own vision. He needs the opportunity to go out into the transfer market.

8th December 2019 at 12:49 pm #56019I don’t think the points raised have alluded to Pep being a failure, far from it. Failure’s a lazy ‘term’ used – largely by Media again to cause a stir.
From Man City’s point of view though, non of Pep’s predecessors have won the Champions League. That’s the angle I was coming from. It’s down to ultimately what the Men In Suits choose to do if they don’t achieve it this season.

8th December 2019 at 2:02 pm #56020For obvious reasons, it was always unlikely that City would win the league again this season. Indeed, unless luck intervenes big time, it seems probable that this current City squad will not win anything of substance (EPL/CL) and one or two new faces won’t do the trick. So it’s all down to whether or not Pep wants to stay (or is allowed to stay) for the inevitable rebuild over the next two or maybe three seasons. It means plenty of head scratching from the men in kandura and ghutra – who are now in a tricky situation given that throwing pots of cash around might not provide a solution – as to how their project moves forward.

8th December 2019 at 2:24 pm #56021Surrey blue….that is one of my points though, Pep HAS built a platform and style of play which can be improved on. I would agree this season was, to me, unlikely for a third title, next year, yes I think we will be back with a bang. I also agree 1/2 faces will not do it I put it down to at least 5 but I also expect two youngsters to be playing full time, they are ready now. I have a feeling pep may want to stay on the basis if he faced with a re build at least he is on familiar ground. If he decides to move on…where? Italy would be the favourite place but would he have what he has now? I doubt it and I would doubt money is an issue. The unlikely possibility is our owners would want to call time….but who is anywhere near Peps standards to take us forward again? A big risk The old guard are past it and the new up and coming are still unproven. If anyone could take over it would be Arteta or Vierra but I still think he will stay and give himself more time. We shall see.

8th December 2019 at 2:28 pm #56022. A huge gap between Aguero and Jesus. And Aguero has passed 30. Come on my Viking friend,Jesus has been dead for thousands of years now.

8th December 2019 at 2:33 pm #56024I don’t think Guardiola will leave. He can’t get the financial backing he has now anywhere else. I think that’s important to him.
I’m curious to see how he’ll deal with the rebuilding at hand. He never did anything like that before. Not at Barcelona, not at Bayern. At City De Bruyne, Mahrez, Walker and Gundogan are all pushing 30. Otamendi and Aguero are both 31. Fernandinho and Silva are both well into their thirties. And will Stones ever be worldclass? Will Jesus ever be able to take over from Aguero? Not based on yesterday, that’s for sure._____________________________

8th December 2019 at 2:38 pm #56026Mav, true, mate. And thinking about it, I can’t see Jesus as a lethal striker. I think he’d be more suited for the role of the nice and friendly kit man.

8th December 2019 at 2:39 pm #56027I thought only Fernandinho,D Silva,Otamendi and Aguero would need replacing come next year?Didnt Pep just splash out close to £60m on Cancelo, and over £57m on Rhodri? Stones is still very young and with plenty of time ahead of tim to improve.

8th December 2019 at 2:40 pm #56028What would players like Vardy and Schmeichel Jr. be worth if they were 25? Leicester have some cracking players.

8th December 2019 at 2:42 pm #560292-0. Game Over possibly. They’re only 8 points behind us and who said the Title is sewn up? We have to play them on Boxing Day!
Ironically, we need a favour from Man City!

8th December 2019 at 2:44 pm #56033Mav, true, but it’s still a pretty old group of players. Do they have some youngsters like Chelsea in the mould of Mount and Abraham coming through? Someone to take over from Aguero should be a priority to them, I think.

8th December 2019 at 2:52 pm #56035srd79…to answer your post, as a City fan, KDB has plenty left in his tank for next 3/4 seasons, mahrez/Walker can go for me, Gungdoghan well worth keeping Otamendi, David Silva (who satiated at beginning of season it will his last) Augerro…if we are lucky we may get one more season. I do not think Jesus will take over Augerro role, two different players altogether, as we know Augerro has consistently scored goals season on season since he has been with us, I do not know any other player who has matched that time frame and would be good for us. Full backs we need, two centre backs we need Stones, I feel will not be the answer for City. Fernandinho, great servant, may get a year extension and will be worth it playing in his own position. Ederson, KDB, Sterling, Bernado, Rodri and laporte will be the core but I see Foden and Garcia adding to that.
I do not think there are many unhappy City fans because we are going in the right direction. We play Oxford and Port Vale soon in the Cups, it does not appear that long ago when we were playing them in the league and losing !!!!!That was a time when the “top4” were spending big and we could hardly afford lower league players…..nice to have a change!!!!!_____________________________

8th December 2019 at 2:59 pm #56036Aguero will still only be 32 at the start of next season problem is his contract runs out in 2021 so a new one needs to be agreed but imo he’s easily good enough for another season or two at Christmas.

8th December 2019 at 3:06 pm #56037I think there’s a fair bit of wishing and hoping re City and Pep there’s not too much wrong with City that the injured players coming back one or two key signings and one or two of the youngsters stepping up won’t put right.
