Mak, you know me lol. Iβll never say itβs over until mathematically no one can catch us.
Surely we are going to have a blip at some stage? Leicester have to be taken seriously . They look solid at the back which is surprising for a Rodgers team
We have done outstandingly well but no way is anything over

8th December 2019 at 9:19 am #55989Utd am weβre very good yday but city just played into their hands. So much space.
Ferdhino is missed in the middle of the field. Injuries have really hampered them but hates off to utd that was devastating counter attacking football
Injuries have really killed utd aswell. It was a great game

8th December 2019 at 9:28 am #55992Pep rightly pointed out that his team has to keep going.
His Team is still in all competitions. We’re not at the point where we’ve only a 3rd of the season left to play.
And we don’t know how Christmas and New Year will pan out. That gap can be reduced to 10 or 7 points and City would be right back in it.

8th December 2019 at 9:33 am #55993Of course it can go wrong for us. Recent history has taught us.
Remember 2014?
Last season too with those draws to Leicester, West Ham, Man United and Everton.
We should have won it on 08/09 too and 96/97.
We were challenging for it on 02/03, but screwed up with the signings in Diouf and Cheyrou.

8th December 2019 at 9:39 am #55994I get the point Bacon Muncher is making, with both the hype and expenses MoneyCity forked out to get Pepe, and the wedge and a half they’ve let him spunk all over the place, has he really achieved much more than any other top-flight manager would have with the same starting point and resources? Maybe… maybe not. They already were the best team in the country, now they’re the 2nd best team in the country, they were never the best team in Europe, and they’re still not the best team in Europe… they’ve continued to collect domestic trophies which they were collecting anyway.
Perhaps suggesting Pepe’s reign was a failure is harsh, but I think there is an argument to suggest it isn’t a complete success either, not yet at any rate. Maybe if he wins the CL this year (which looks unlikely, let’s be honest!)

8th December 2019 at 9:49 am #55996It’s a Big ‘IF’, but Pep may call it a day with City if he fails to win the CL. PL too. I think if anything, he was hired in the first place to land City with the CL, but it’s yet to happen in his reign.
I don’t know who City would bring in though as his replacement.

8th December 2019 at 9:50 am #55997Manchester City are away to Arsenal and then home to Leicester in their next two leading up to Christmas whilst Liverpool are home to Watford, away to West Ham which is postponed and then away to Leicester 27/12/2019. Beat Leicester 27/12/2019 after City beat them beforehand and its daylight third forget about 2nd. The gap could be even greater before the New Year. I can fully understand supporters of Liverpool searching for reasons why it could all fall apart after last season’s 2nd with record points however that experience and the hunger of Klopp and the squad this season will ensure nothing goes wrong. Bookmakers have been known to pay out before the mathematics equation has been allowed to play out. This may end up being one of those I reckon. It could end up being by how far.

8th December 2019 at 10:08 am #56000Nil….remember this is only Peps third season, he had to re build the squad in that time and it does not always happen it comes right in a short period, money or not,I am sure in most City fans minds are that 1. he has achieved an attractive attacking style 2 He has picked up silverware. I know everyone bats on about CL but it will come sooner or later. This is about the club not Pep who the media are trying to make a story out of and some fans wish for failure. As a club the future is bright, investment in place, well managed , we also know we will not win everything that comes our way and accept that as a City fan

8th December 2019 at 10:14 am #56002In fairness, who would City bring in if they wanted someone more likely to win the CL? The names don’t jump out at you. There are 2 names who have a better record than Pep in the CL and they are Ancelotti and Mourinho. I don’t need to tell you why the latter is a non-starter and Ancelotti has done little to convince he’s still a top manager over the last 4 or 5 years.

8th December 2019 at 10:19 am #56004Brian, to answer your question, essentially The League Title. That’s always been the club’s aspiration.

8th December 2019 at 11:12 am #56006Nil-Liverpool dont need any favours from anyone, matey.Like waspy & a few others have already said, you just need to focus on winning your own games.Lesta will no way sustain this form for the rest of the season, and City, well, you saw that yesterday-any team can beat them now if you attack them.

8th December 2019 at 11:29 am #56007AnonymousExactly Sean. People haven’;t really been paying attention to this dark horse because we beat them and the focus was on our wins and City’s stumblimg… meanwhile Leicester have won every single game since we played them .
It’s not over, not even close. It wouldnt even take a “bottling”, just some injuries or tiredness, or general poor form or bad luck in 3 games… Nobody is saying City have bottled it but I assure you, they will if we lose it from this admittedly awesome position.
So, there is a part of me that does want to “admit” that the title is ours to lose but thats not the same thing as saying that it’s done and dusted,.
If Leicester lose today, that will of course bring the needle over another notch but there’s just too long to go and I assure you neutrals, we’ll be boring the pqants off you with this talk for a while yet.

8th December 2019 at 11:30 am #56008It’ll be interesting to see how Guardiola Will go about the rebuilding ahead of him. They are very dependant on Aguero. They are a very different team without him. Yesterday they really lacked end product. A huge gap between Aguero and Jesus. And Aguero has passed 30.

8th December 2019 at 11:40 am #56009City’s biggest problem is FFP and what might eventually emerge out of the UEFA investigations when Pep says “we can’t afford it” what he really means is that “we can afford it but we can’t spend what we would like to spend because of UEFA’s current focus on us”.
That focus and likely restrictions may last for a while and reduce City’s ability to rebuild with the quality that they want as quickly as they would want.

8th December 2019 at 11:42 am #56010AnonymousI agree that Pep was likely hired specifically for the CL (of course to win the others too tho alongside it).
On the other point though, Pep’s reign has definitely not been a failure and even though we knocked them out of the CL, for me they were 100% the best team in Europe and I’ll even say that they were the best ever PL side. Now before people say “they need to do this over years”, please, leave this … I’m talking about season by season… there has never been a better Pl side in any given season than that City.
So no, pep’s time here has been a massive success. He just happens to have made a big mistake that has been exploited by very bad luck.

8th December 2019 at 11:48 am #56011Agree with Mav forgetting what Liverpool may or may not do going forwards Leicester’s squad is unlikely to be deep enough to keep up a title challenge and City are too far away and not firing on all cylinders for all sorts of reasons.
I understand the Liverpool lads insistence that the title race isn’t over and with 66 points still to play for their right mathematically it isn’t over.
But the only way Liverpool will not win the title from here is if they completely “duck” it up for themselves and I can’t see Klopp and this Liverpool team letting that happen.
