I can’t see City winning the CL currently it all depends on who they get back and how quickly they settle back into the team and whether despite what Pep says they do enter the transfer market.
Currently City are just far too open currently although with the players they have they can still put in the odd great performances.
I wouldn’t write City out of potentially winning the CL but they need all their best players back and to stay virtually injury free between February and the end of the season to be able to do it and have a little bit of luck too.
Anyway Chelsea are going to win the CL.?

7th December 2019 at 7:49 pm #55937I saw similarities to the Chelsea game where Man City’s left-side was exposed; think about where United’s efforts in terms of shots on target came from in the first half.
Forget about Stones, he’s just making up the numbers. La Porte clearly has been a big loss as well as Kompany. On top of these problems, City’s Talisman’s missed. Make no mistake, Aguero makes a big difference.
We’ll have to see how the Christmas games pan out. I did mention earlier on this thread on Liverpool utilising the depth of their squad which is some encouragement on the back of the recent injury in Fabinho.

7th December 2019 at 7:50 pm #55938By no stretch of the imagination could you call Peps time at City a failure. At some point in the future City will win the CL, although in my case I am not bothered, this maybe with or without Pep. Yes he should have had better cover but you have to remember Kompany , although very influential in the club, missed a lot of games, we still;ll needed cover then. Kompany was not the reason of our defensive woes…the full backs are just as problematic I assume these positions will be addressed in the summer but I hope to see some youngsters. In the meantime, as pep would say…you learn from mistakes not the things you do right and he is sincere enough to acknowledge his part

7th December 2019 at 7:53 pm #55939Liverpool’s title to lose now Nil if they lost 2 or 3 games in a short period of time it might all swing around but 54 PL games and one defeat suggests that’s not going to happen.

Haven’t seen that suggestion Brian but that’s ridiculous imo Pep and City have been a breath of fresh air in the PL imo and look what they’ve won.

7th December 2019 at 8:02 pm #55945Pleasing to see City put a statement out as quickly as they did about the racist incident. He’s going to be feeling rough tomorrow. Lose the Derby, get banned from games for life and the world has seen what an absolute lowlife he is.

7th December 2019 at 8:18 pm #55951Mav and 9, thank you, and I hope you’re both well π
9, I think I raised the question if Guardiola should be considered a failure, if City fail to win the CL.
I acknowledge that he had City play some good stuff since he took over. Better than any other City manager. But if he fails to win the CL, he has done no more than Mancini and Pellegrini when you look at the trophies. And I’m sure Guardiola was brought in to win the CL. I just wondered since this City team is getting on. De Bruyne is one of the younger players of those you’d consider essential players. And he’s 28.
Of course “failure” is a harsh term to use, but for the sake of the argument I chose to use it.

7th December 2019 at 8:18 pm #55952Rashford’s career looked like tailing off after a bit of a drought when he moved to a more central role. But since he’s been moved back to a wider role, he just looks so dangerous and always looks like scoring in the big games.
