P.S I think Jose will go regardless but I donβt think the constant criticism of him is fair. One man in the game can hold his CV up against Jose and criticise him and thatβs Pep. Even then, Jose has the advantage of having taking 2 very unfncied sides to the biggest title in club football, twice. The rest will retire at varying degrees below his achievements. Get some sleep steady Eddy pal,you have forgotten a certain bald French manager winning it 3-times in a row??? Rafa won it with Liverpool,RDM with Chelsea! The only time Jose won the CL and surprised everyone-with PORTO!

4th December 2018 at 3:09 pm #28930Mourinho at Porto won the CL on a much smaller budget than any of his competitors and did the same again under similar circumstances at Inter.

4th December 2018 at 3:21 pm #28934Apples and pears Mav, give Mourinho his dues the Porto and Inter wins were unlikely and achieve d on a fraction of the budget of the teams he was competing against.
Or shall we just promote the view that Mourinho was never a Manager of any merit? Which is complete c**p imo!

4th December 2018 at 3:25 pm #28935I know it was only 8 years ago and the transfer market has really gone bonkers, and I don’t have figures from all the other “clubs” around that time, but Maureen only spent 136 million during his time at Inter… hardly peanuts… so can we stop pretending he did it all by simply coaching… π

4th December 2018 at 3:27 pm #28936AnonymousSean – I think you are right mate. The boys can play. Weβve had some great results this year, been unlucky in some matches too. We just canβt get going against the teams we should beat fairly easily. Thatβs the players. They did it with Moyes and LVG, if they end up getting Jose the sack that will be three managers they have got sacked. Penny should drop, but it wonβt, as agendas get in the way.
I think we are worse of defensively for a couple of reasons – attacking fullbacks this year and more open in midfield. We have no cover in front of the defence as Matic has been poor.
Jose doesnβt help himself sometimes, but he is not missing open goals or failing to pass the ball five yards.

4th December 2018 at 3:29 pm #28937I think the point of many is simply Maureen is living on past glories… and apart from one impressive achievement at Porto, has basically bought/whined his way to success ever since…
And just to mix it up a little, let’s see Maureen take over a proper mid-table team to the top of their league! The CL is a Cup, we all know about Cups, the best team doesn’t always win on one-off matches, but League positions are always a better indicator of how good a team is, as everybody in that league plays each other…

4th December 2018 at 3:34 pm #28938In 2009/19 Mourinho led Inter to the treble of League title, Italian Cup and the Champions League with a positive spend in the transfer market all of which is a matter of historical fact.

4th December 2018 at 3:40 pm #28939Chucky, by the same token Pochettino has spent Β£300mil on players over the duration of his Tottenham career. Hardly peanuts either. I’d have expected some challenge of a trophy after spending like that! So it took Mourinho half the spending power of Poch to secure a treble, including a CL. 140mil was nothing 8ver the duration of his time there, even ignoring net spend ?

4th December 2018 at 3:41 pm #28941Yes, historical fact, but who/way/what were the opposition in the League that year?
The point is Goldie, Maureen has been a great manager, one of the best, a despicable human being and a whiny little Malmo resident, but it’s all yesterday, it’s all getting old. He simply thinks he can now command the right to buy success at any club and has an automatic PR campaign to blame everybody when the checks stop being written. YooUtd are imploding, we can all see it, and it’s a pattern that been repeating…

And where did Mourinho whine his way to last season I wonder?
How can that be living on past glories? Take your blinkers off and put your agenda away. It’s embarrassing.

4th December 2018 at 4:54 pm #28946AnonymousRafa won the CL against one of the best 11’s to ever appear in a CL final, with very little spent on the side at that time. You could argue that the Liverpool side he won it with had poorer quality in it than the Porto that Jose did. Many players from that side went on to play for the best clubs in the world. It was a golden generation of players, for Porto. The same could not be said for Rafa’s winning side. “Champions League winner, Djimi Traore” is an accurate statement.
But no, I wouldn’t bash What Mourinho has won. He’s won way too much to not be brilliant. Any criticism I have for him is character and mentality based.

4th December 2018 at 5:14 pm #28951Oh, I’m not trolling, I do think he was a great manager, I do genuinely think Maureen has reached his sell-by date, and do genuinely think considering the resources he’s had at YooUtd you should be doing a lot better you find yourselves in. Sure, he did great at Porto in 2004 or whenever it was, Clough did brilliantly in 1978 or whenever it was. The point is Maureen is yesterday’s man.
I may be having a bit of a laugh with the rest of it, granted, but at the end of the day its all a bit of bantz, right?

4th December 2018 at 5:20 pm #28952AnonymousI heard an old but nice song recently called I’m your yesterday man. Not sure who sang it but United fans should sing that when he walks into the park.
