Sean@10:13pm Sean, a cameo of our season so far mate lots of possession nemerous shots but too few on target.
I can’t see us getting 4th place without we can solve the striker connundrum and January is a difficult time to try and do that.
I would like to suggest that we can do you a favour on Saturday but I just can’t see it. If I’m honest I’m hoping we don’t suffer a morale sapping thumping and that we see a bit of a reaction and play with a bit of pride.
Really sad to hear the news on Gomez he’s looked a very good player this season hopefully he recovers from his injury asap. Cheers 999

6th December 2018 at 3:14 pm #29094Anonymousgood win for spurs last night and up to 3rd! shame the whole team (apart from hugo) stopped playing at 3-0. would’ve been nice to get a high scoring win. i must say despite how negative i have been about spurs this season i am very impressed. so much going on off the pitch and we are still 3rd in the league. no signings, no stadium, 9 of our 15 games played away from home – not bad going.
arsenal taking all the plaudits for their unbeaten run but its not much use if you are drawing so many games.

6th December 2018 at 3:37 pm #29095Spurs playing really well at the moment and are nailed on for 3rd place. Arsenal look very impressive in forward mode but a bit suspect defensively once Emery solves that they could eventually become a title contender again.

6th December 2018 at 4:14 pm #2909627-I really believe that for both Spuds and Arse the 2nd is within their reach.

6th December 2018 at 4:48 pm #29097Given all the nonsense going on, I reckon most of us Spud-lovers are secretly wondering how on earth we’re 3rd… the thing that bodes well for the future, this is about the time of the season were we always seem to go on a bit of a run (we always have one really decent run every season!) and looking at our fixtures, they could be a lot worse until February, when we play City again… about 13 games in a row against “lesser” sides… considering the form we’re starting to show, I’m quite confident Top4 should be within our grasp. Especially if we get a couple of players in Jan too (not 100% sure about this attacking midfielder from Italy, that’s one area we’re pretty well covered I reckon).

6th December 2018 at 5:19 pm #29098Mav, I will be amazed if City and Liverpool don’t occupy the top two spots Arsenal imo aren’t strong enough defensively to go too much higher than 4 th but we’ll see.

6th December 2018 at 6:11 pm #29099AnonymousI tell you one thing lads, we can kiss our brilliant goals against figure goodbye now. The PL thinks our defence = Van Dijk and as much as he deserves a HUGE amount of praise (we turned a pretty weak defence into one of the best in Europe), Gomez has quietly been outperforming even him in some matches. He’s been a revelation and now that he’s out for 6 weeks, we’re 100% going to suffer for it.
Lovren plays better alongside Van Dijk than he did when he had Matip and Moreno on each side of him and although I’m glad that Gomez hasn’t had another absolutely massive injury, this is not going to be easy for us, as we have honestly ridden very close to the edge in quite a few games. This could be that tipping point, if the attack doesn’t step up and improve.
So disappointed for Gomez as it’s been a joy to watch him play to such an incredibly high level.

6th December 2018 at 6:17 pm #29100Anonymous9 , like you I’d be amazed if City & Liverpool don’t make 1 & 2 and I’ll be more than happy for Spurs to get top 4 on goal difference !!!!

6th December 2018 at 6:18 pm #29101Gomez will be a huge loss. Been superb at centre back
Nine, fair comments mate. Hazard still looks unfit from his injury in my opinion. Does he need a proper rest
Iβm in no way suprised at spurs form. They didnβt spend a penny bit they have a very good squad.

6th December 2018 at 6:30 pm #29102AnonymousMak , with the attack you have I can’t see a problem . If whoever you play score 2 you score 3/4 ,you might have a few more goals against but it won’t lose you points.
That’s probably the kiss of death on Liverpool_____________________________

6th December 2018 at 6:36 pm #29103AnonymousThe days of Liverpool scoring 4 and 5 goals are gone though. We got 3 the other night but we’ve struggled to score in many games. It’s not like we’re not getting any goals but we are getting fewer than our continuation from lasts season.
I’m not complaining but just saying that we’ll find it that bit harder to win now.

6th December 2018 at 7:15 pm #29104AnonymousMak , Liverpool are a victim of their own sucess scoring 4/5 goals every match. All that’s happened is you’ve come down to the level of the rest of us.

6th December 2018 at 7:34 pm #2910527-Arse are the most improved team on from last season, and Liverpool are not firing on all cylinders,so both Spurs and Arse are in with a chance.Liverpool are really struggling to create anything these days. Not saying that wont change, but for the time being Liverpool are not scoring for fun like last season.

6th December 2018 at 7:50 pm #29107Mav I think itβs more a problem of not taking our chances
We missed 5 clear cut chances againest everton
12 shots on target last night
No doubting itβs not the same going forward but we need to start taking more chances

6th December 2018 at 8:24 pm #29108Mav, Arsenal are on a good run but they are 8 effectively 9 points behind Liverpool and I can’t see Liverpool dropping too many points. If Arsenal were to strengthen defensively 20 goals conceded to date you never know but they’re an outside bet at best imo to finish in the top 2 but we shall see.

6th December 2018 at 8:27 pm #29109AnonymousSean, I think you’re both right. We’re not creative and as in-sync as we were last season and this leads to more but also better chances. The chances we’ve had then, we’ve been not only wasteful with but we’ve often looked like we are just not going to score them and that is a worrying thing when you’re looking to break the deadlock.
One thing that has happened is the 20 minutes and done football is gone but that’s not bad thing because teams were either blown away by the time the match was entering the latter stages, or they started to grow and grow and looked more and more like they could get a result. We take it easier and wear down tired teams now. I would prefer a balance of the 2 but who wouldn’t. We could definitely do a lot better in some areas and hopefully we will step up a gear, or we will struggle when we start to concede more , now that Gomez is out for 6 weeks.

6th December 2018 at 8:30 pm #29110The reason Liverpool aren’t as offensively strong as last season imo is because that’s the way Klopp’s playing it, playing the high press all season would potentially be physically draining and might damage their title challenge especially as the season develops.

6th December 2018 at 9:13 pm #29111Firstly much much better 2nd half from Liverpool & a great 3 points. I find it interesting reading comments on our attack compared to last season & our change in tactics this season. If klopp has changed tactics as the high press would be too demanding over a full season, do you think he will go back to it as the season rolls on. I cannot see us going back to the high press at all. I think there are certain games where it could be more effective than how we are currently playing but I donβt think we will see it this season. I think we have well & truly ridden our luck in some games & we have lost that fear factor from last season. We havenβt beaten the top teams (spurs & PSG aside) & I think the high press is more effective against the top teams as they come at you. I may be proved wrong but Iβd be interested to hear what people think Koop will do.

6th December 2018 at 11:08 pm #29112AnonymousAussie, I honestly can;t see why we don’t switch between it and how we’re playing now in single matches. We can now play both styles very effectively. This is the main reason that leads me to believe that it isn’t entirely optional. Against Everton we saw the high press in effect sometimes. So i don’t think it’s as simple that it just boils down to one reason at all. I guess we’ll see. Maybe we’ll employ it when we really need it, like against Napoli.
