Fair enough ed. So Young over Delph. Both perifreal players fighting for the same place and probably deserving of a chance. And yet we both know Southgate will put the hapless Henderson as his first name on the teamsheet. He will probably overlook both and Milner. Thats why we will struggle to get out of our group imo.

29th November 2017 at 9:58 am #8070Just saw the highlights on YouTube, not saying the Spuds deserved anything (it was highlights after all!) but bloody hell, did they miss some sitters in the second half!!
Big J… said it before, I have a feeling his head’s been turned and only seems to show-up when he feels like it. Most certainly not hitting the heights of last season and is seemingly suffering from a dose of “Billy Big-boots”. Maybe, hopefully, it’s just a blip and hopefully the return of LAamalelela give both him and Erickson a bit of kick up the backside, give some doubt to the “un-droppable” attitude they both seem to have at the moment. Us Spuds over the last couple of years don’t seem to hit a real consistent form until around this time of year. Apparently, before last nights game, we had the same points after 13 games as we did last year (less defeats but a lot more draws!).
Or maybe we just shot our load over the last two seasons… 🙂
Eddy… bit unfair on both Herr Brenda and Poncho I feel. With certain clubs operating on a larger budget than others, I think anything higher than 4th for both clubs is a bit of an achievement in the League and as we all know, anything can happen in a “Cup” game…

29th November 2017 at 10:05 am #8071Chucky, yeah don’t get me wrong, they’re both doing a great job punching above their weight. My point is that I think they excel at being underdogs and that they seem to struggle once they’re expected to deliver. People often say things like “Look what Ranieri did with Leicester. Imagine if he had City’s budget.” My point is that I don’t agree with that. I think some managers are great “underdog” managers but it’s an entirely different man-management technique to deliver once expectations have been built up. As an example, I think someone like Klopp would struggle at Real where every single game they would be expected to win. Give him an Atletico Madrid level of side, though, and I feel he’d do wonders with them as the expectation to deliver is not as high.

29th November 2017 at 10:31 am #8072Hmmm…. interesting points cyber chum.
Not going to comment of Pool but this season I think my Spuds have been more unlucky than anything else (maybe rose tinted glasses! 🙂 ).
“Lesser” teams are coming to Wembly to play for the draw, the template has been shown by several teams on how that works and it’s up to the Spuds to work a way around that (stupid giveaways like last Saturday against the Baggies don’t help either!), and away from home was great up until about 3 weeks ago. The current blip seems to be since the Spammer League Cup game were we feel apart in the second half and Alderwireirieyritslds hamstring unsettling and shuffling the defense with the introduction of Rose since his injury (have to say this season they’ve much look better with Davies!).
Still fancy us to go on a decent run like we seem to do every year, but I have a feeling that won’t happen until both Waamamamamasnyama and Aldwerereilededd are back (New Year for both apperently). Just hope we haven’t fallen too far behind by then. Would really hate to miss out on CL for the new Stadium next year. Said at the start of the season, just give me Top4 this year!

29th November 2017 at 11:30 am #8074Anonymouswe could half manage without wanyama as dier could fill in that role but now with toby out, dier has dropped back and we have no one that can do the job in midfield. i also think we have become far too predictable and lack creativity. we dont have anyone that can split a defence open. i also think son deserves a place in the first team. either eriksen or alli need to make way for him.
alli is a goner and i wont be too sad to see him go. bit of a liability with his behaviour and hes probably the worst diver in the league at the moment. hes got bags of talent but unfortunately, as banjo said, he turns up when he feels like it. his performances have been very poor this season.

29th November 2017 at 11:44 am #8075I read that as Ali is a gooner then and spat my tea out…. 🙂
Agree about Son, and I’d drop Ali given the choice. I’d also have Davies playing for a bit just to tighten up the back. Dembele also seems half the player he was this season too, which is a shame as I thought he was bloody great last year. Thankfully Laamlalala is back too, another option at least and he can’t do much worse than anybody except Harry!

29th November 2017 at 12:01 pm #8076Both Young and Milner should be on that plane to Russia-if they`re fit! Not seen much of Delph the last 2 years tbh,so cannot comment on his performances.

29th November 2017 at 12:05 pm #8077D.Alli should just put his head down and work hard, improve on his game overrall!.The lad is only 21 and has the world ahead of him in terms of time and considering the talent he has at his feet.

29th November 2017 at 12:23 pm #8080Sheila-He is only 21,in a couple of years when players like CR7,Modders,Messi,Iniesta,Bale,Robben,Ribbery,Suarez, etc have called it a day,he can have his “big” move to wherever he wants-IF he keeps improving. On current form not many teams would be ready to go for him I would think!

29th November 2017 at 12:36 pm #8081Depends who’s his new agent is going to be… for some reason I can an “Anelka” career for him, just chasing transfer fees and signing “loyatly” bonuses with 1 good game in 4 to keep up the “interest”… loved to be proved wrong though!

29th November 2017 at 2:11 pm #8083There will need to be a significant turn around in Dele Alli’s form to get anywhere near the kind of fee being talked about last season.

29th November 2017 at 3:00 pm #8085Alderwierald would be a miss for anyone but last night’s goals by Leicester would have gone in whoever was playing and whichever team Leicester were playing they were that good.
Lamella returning to fitness could help Spurs,I think Paxton is right about the lack of creativity even with Eriksen and Alli’s goals have dried up but I’m sure he’ll come again.

29th November 2017 at 4:08 pm #8087Goldie… Vardy’s perhaps, but still think they backed off Mahrez a bit, reckon Toby would have been having a word or two in that stage…. but we’ll never know! Game is done and dusted!
I reckon us SPud-lovers never realized how much we missed Lamamalalallaalla!

29th November 2017 at 9:02 pm #8096Well well well 🙂 Is it a coincidence Everton are 2 goals to the good when a certain Mr Allardyce is sat inside the stadium?!
