Sean, it was a mistake by Barkley that led to the goal in the 89th minute when Chelsea thought they had the game won and Liverpool thought they’d lost the game and although it was a great goal 9 times out of 10 it would have gone over the bar. That’s football mate and it lasts for 90 plus minutes no arguments about that but those two draws have kept Liverpool closer to City than they would have been. As I said on such things PL titles can turn.
Everyone has said it was a pen on Hazard Sean and it may well have had an impact on the game had it been awarded and Hazard scored but Spurs thoroughly deserved their victory on Saturday and it could have been a lot worse. But goals do change games.?

26th November 2018 at 8:26 pm #28519Adlab, let’s be honest these constant digs at United and Sanchez are because he didn’t sign for City and signed for United you did similar after Chelsea signed Jorginho. But tbh after Saturday you can have him!?

Thats not so. Merely that when one quotes £26m a year, an outrageous sum, it is not some figure plucked from nowhere. Nothing more or less. Yes at the time I thought he should have signed for us ditto Jorgino. Both had given their word. Perhaps I am too old fashioned? Their loss. History. Good luck to them on mega bucks._____________________________

27th November 2018 at 11:29 am #28525Adlab, let it go mate you’ve got plenty to be grateful for and not everyone will sign for City. And speaking of wages don’t City have the biggest wage bill in the PL.?

27th November 2018 at 11:37 am #28527I remember the bad old days when it was Chelski buying everybody and spunking wages like there was no tomorrow… those City bastards… 🙂

27th November 2018 at 3:21 pm #28530I always failed to understand why we ever became interested in Sanchez or Jorghinho but then City know better than me. For me Sanchez was not a CITY player we needed a Silva Mk2 but now we have him in Bernado. Jorghinho, I thought PL would be too quick for him….I could we wrong on this but if you look at Chelsea midfield two of Kante and Jorghino they should be on top of the division by now. The next few months are going to be a real slog by the end of January things should be clearer

27th November 2018 at 5:52 pm #28534Brian, with respect I think it takes a bit more than two midfield players albeit two very good midfield players to take you to the top of the PL table especially given the strength of this City team/squad with a Manager as good as Pep who is now in his third season. Both Liverpool and Spurs are clearly much further ahead in their development than Chelsea as they should be given Klopp has been there more than three years and Pochetinno more than 4 years whilst Sarri has been at Chelsea a little over 4 months.
There are number of areas in Chelsea’s team that need fixing and Chelsea are where they deserve to be and imo it will be tough to even stay there without Chelsea can maybe tweak things in January.
Jorginho is a very good player and Saturday doesn’t change that. Judge him at the end of the Season.

27th November 2018 at 7:56 pm #28538How have City managed to get some of their wage bill to be reported under the City football group if that BBC article is true? That sounds a bit dodgy! Utd definitely the side getting the lowest return on their investment in World Football I reckon!

It is often the case that items are paid via a holding company. Same as Utd do. Its quite normal and I would assume its all taken into account. In our company certain bonuses were paid via the holding company to avoid busybodies!!
But as we have said a lot of inuendo and no facts. Bit like Brexit!_____________________________

27th November 2018 at 8:44 pm #28540Against Lyon we are lucky to be still 0-0. They could easily be 3 up!

27th November 2018 at 8:54 pm #28541Yes Adlab, we certainly rode our luck in the first half. Not sure Sterling in a more central role is working and both Sane and Mahrez have had no effect at all so far. Laporte has been superb, as he has all season.
Still, we can only get better…………..hopefully._____________________________

27th November 2018 at 9:10 pm #28542AnonymousEd – around £40m of image rights were ‘sold’ to a separate company, according to De Speigel, for Man City. That is not included in the City wage bill as the company is not part of the group. It seems to be a sham company which cannot make a return and appeared by the auditors, if the article was true, to to be solely set up to hide costs.
City also offset hundreds of background staffs wages by transferring their contracts to sister clubs. This was widely reported some time ago and, again, lowers the wage bill of City as a result.
Also, some City staff were paid a large chunk of their salary by a Middle Eastern football club under the guise of a consultancy role or similar nonsense – according to der Speigel. Again this would not be included in the financial accounts.
For clarity – Man Utd do none of the above.

27th November 2018 at 9:20 pm #28543gjblues, seemingly those figure have only just been released and United have now moved ahead of City a reversal from last season but my point still stands City pay their players handsomely and aren’t really in a position to criticise anyone else.

27th November 2018 at 10:00 pm #28546I wasn’t criticising anyone, Nine, just pointing out a fact.
I know which team in the PL is getting the best value for money for the wages they pay and that’s all I’m bothered about._____________________________

27th November 2018 at 10:59 pm #28548Haha I’ve got to laugh at you c$ty lads, hopefully we can get better, we should’ve been 3 down, lmfao.
Quick tip folks but don’t tell anyone, c$ty will win the EPL in a canter & will go close to the C/L as well. I’m more chance of a 1 night stand with miss universe than anyone is of beating c$ty to the title.
Already ahead in the EPL & will finish top of C/L group all whilst missing arguably your best player & with Mendy & Bernardino to come back in. No one else has the luxury of all these top players to rely on.
This is why I say the EPL isn’t a title race, it’s a race for the remaining 3 C/L positions. Yeah you’ll say oh your just throwing in the towel, anything can happen or whatever, it’s being honest & telling it how it is.
Outside c$ty it’s a very interesting competition with Liverpool, spurs, chelski & Arsenal all looking good for a shot at the C/L positions & the bluenoses & manu hanging in there. To even suggest another winner in the EPL is just amusing though._____________________________

28th November 2018 at 8:30 am #28553gjblues, there’s been a continuous campaign on here against United over the Sanchez signing waged by certain City fans maybe it’s just banter but you had an input too.
Even United fans agree that the Sanchez deal was over generous but that’s what significant players can negotiate at the end of their contracts when they leave on a free and or leave on a vastly reduced fee in comparison to their real percieved value in the transfer market instead of going to the selling club it goes to the player.
I’m not sure any of us should be defending the wage bills of our Clubs it’s all gone to a ridiculous level imo and all of City, United and Chelsea are the worst offenders we’re all living in glass houses and shouldn’t be throwing stones imho.
