Alfie…I would think both clubs are more than pissed off with the way the deal has panned out??

25th November 2018 at 5:13 pm #28465Hi Alfie.
Re Mkhitarian – only time will tell but at the mo, definitely Arsenal – he’s playing most weeks and they are above United in the league. I think his style of play is more suited to Arsenal than the way Mou is setting United up. Sanchez on the other hand has to play – imho, if you are going to play with wing backs, I wouldn’t play Lukaku, I’d try Rash and Martial as twin strikers and give Sanchez a freer role just behind. JM appears to have an obsession with a strict organisation and every player sticking to a position.
Just my thoughts. Yours?_____________________________

25th November 2018 at 5:43 pm #28467Mykithern has been dreadful for both clubs. No fight in the lad. Luxury player. Utd were right to get rid
Heβs been worse then Sanchez in my opinion
Least Sanchez actually tries

25th November 2018 at 6:39 pm #28471AnonymousCity are without a doubt (in my mind) the best PL team ever. The thing is, I think liverpool are up there with actual PL winning teams. The thing about us though is we have even more to go. We know how good our attack can be, we just need to fix the linkage in midfield and the sky is the limit.
I think that if we push on as the season goes, keeping the amazing defence that we have now and adding the attacking ability of last season that we’ll be up there as one of the best PL sides ever. It’s no small task though, don’t get me wrong. The issue I have with all this is that we still won’t beat City to the league, almost certainly. They are freaks.

25th November 2018 at 6:58 pm #28473AnonymousHH – neither side will be happy with it so far, thatβs for sure!
gj – so last year it was Utd then, as he played most weeks and we were above them in the league. That would make it a draw, surely? And I donβt think adlab was trying to illicit debate with his βbanterβ. More likely trying to score cheap points.
Not sure Jose does have an obsession with strict formations. Sanchez has drifted into various positions on the pitch in matches, and swapped positions entirely. His problem is that at Arsenal they played through him. He lost the ball a lot but as they played through him he would get it again quickly. At Utd we play through several players. Be it Pogba, Mata or either winger. Sanchez loses the ball the same percentage of times, but wonβt get it again so quickly. Itβs highlighted more as everything at Utd is blown out of all proportion.
Jose isnβt as obsessed with a rigid system as he previously was. We often have players interchange positions, but there is a limit. Smalling is hardly likely to swap with Rashford for ten minutes!
As for going forward, iβd go 4-3-3. Atacking fullbacks one holding player, Matic away and Pereira against teams like Palace. Fred and Pogba and then three up top. He needs to find and stick with a formation. We need more energy and Fred gives us that.
Funnily enough Mourinho knows the issues, he speaks about them in his program notes and in his press conferences. Players arenβt performing and we lack experience in certain areas but the board wanted younger signings and we ended up with a shambles of a transfer window.

25th November 2018 at 7:52 pm #28476Mak, Liverpool’s problem is just as they are getting it together as a Club they’ve come up against this City team who have the squad, Manager and resources to dominate the PL for a while.
If you’re being honest with yourself though the Liverpool attack is not looking as dominant as they did last season whilst the defence is significantly stronger although I think the two together with a quality midfield would push City very very close for the title but Liverpool imo are still short in the midfield area to be a PL winning team in this City era and going forwards City are likely to be able to throw more money at it than Liverpool.
But at least you’ve only got one problem area!?

26th November 2018 at 12:09 am #28481Brian, City don’t really need to spend in January given the strength and depth of their squad and they will be getting both Mendy and De Bruyne back, my point was in respect of going forwards with City having more resources and being prepared to spend big which makes it difficult for Liverpool or anyone else bar perhaps United if they got their act together being able to catch.
Given where City are now with the Manager and squad they have plus their resources I can only see a period of City dominance in the PL much like United’s. The only thing that might change that is City taking their eye of the PL ball in favour of the CL.

26th November 2018 at 2:25 am #28484AnonymousOur attack isn’t looking anywhere near as good as it was last season, that’s without doubt. The fact is though that the potential for it to get there or close is always there, it’s just not happening yet. It is improving though. Salah now has 7 goals and 3 assists, 1 behind the current PL top scorer. Mane has 6 goals, which is also quite good. Firmino is well off the pace with 3 PL goals but he got one of those in the last game.
The midfield is a real problem for us. We’ve spent a huge amount of money on it and unlike City, I’m not sure we can roll with the punches if both Keita and Fabinho aren’t hits. That outlay will hurt us if we don’t get something from it.
I think you could forgive Liverpool fans for being despondent when looking at City and what honestly is starting to look like a potentially insurmountable task but we’ve come from a almost midtable recent past and each season under Klopp we’ve progressed. Not only that but everything about this guy fits into our culture. I am starting to fall in line with the idea that Man city might be on top for a while but having been away for a while, it’s still nice to be in the conversation.
I wasn’t very entertained by the Watford match, as a spectator but it’s exactly the kind of result that we’d have missed out on before. 3-0 is more than I expected or even hoped for and it’s a warning shot to other teams looking to park the bus. A tactic that once worked so well against us, is now nothing more than a desperate effort by a team who feel that they are out of options. This is great for me because I hate watching these kinds of matches.
Another week, another 3 points. We move on now to the derby next, in our efforts to keep pace with City. Meanwhile, the Bournemouth players in my fantasy football team have been shifted to the bench. This is how it is! Assume that city will get their points and hope that we do too. Football has become something strange π

26th November 2018 at 9:09 am #28496Feeling quite happy from a Spud angle, seemingly playing ourselves into form, get the Goonies out the way and then it’s a run of 13 games with only 1 against a “Top 6” side between now and the 27th of February (and that’s “home” against YooUtd on the 13th Jan!).
Given the nonsense with no pre-season, no signings, no stadium, possibly the worst injury list during Poncho’s reign, an out-of-form Harry, and Hugo’s “silly season”, I reckon it could have been a lot worse and if you offered what we have right now at the start of the season, I would have bit your hand off!!
Pity about the CL… down but not quite out…

26th November 2018 at 10:48 am #28499I really think people are going overboard about our attack mak.
Teams are scared shitless to attack us. The bus is parked constantly yet we are breaking these teams down when in the past we couldnβt.
Last season at this point we dropped points againest burnley, Newcastle, wba, Everton. All who just sat back. Now we are winning these kind of games. It canβt always be pretty
We were excellent ahainest Chelsea and spurs. I just donβt get some of the talk from people. Every Liverpool fan should be berry happy at the minute. Midfield is an issue but people are settling and Milner has been brilliant as has Winji.
We are not creating 20 chances a game but we are still creating a few and scoring goals. Ten in our last 4 pl games. People should remember the absolute shite we used to play under some managers. Hodgkin and even rafas Liverpool were extermley boring T times. I remember 7 defenders away to stoke. I really enjoy watching us play and itβs hreT not to be on tenderhooks when 2 up and itβs the 3rd min of stoppage time

26th November 2018 at 2:19 pm #28502Liverpool are doing fine Sean they’re holding on to City’s coat tails continuing to do that won’t be easy but if they can continue to do that going into March or April not being able to shake Liverpool off might get to City and then there’s the implications of the CL to take into account too.
But Liverpool rode their luck v Chelsea with the goal in the 89th minute and with City missing what would have been the winning penalty at Anfield had those results gone against Liverpool as they easily could have done then there would have been a much more significant gap between them and City but on such things tiles can sometimes turn?

26th November 2018 at 3:18 pm #28504City we defo rode our muck with the pen miss nine but not Chelsea in my opinion
We fully deserved a draw and had created multiple chances in the game as did Chelsea. We scored in the 89 min mate. I donβt call that lucky especially the goal we scored.
The game is 90min plus and I never call last min goals lucky mate
I will say we have had some favorable decisions recently. Thought Watford shoukd jabe had a pen sat and the Fulham goal really was borderline. Our goal at aresnal shoukd have stood.
You look at decisions over the weekend.bournemouth legitimate goal. Watford pen. Hazard clear pen.
Decisions this season are just terrible at times

26th November 2018 at 3:36 pm #28505I was waiting for the Hazard “pen” to rear its ugly head… π
he doesn’t help himself (as do all “attackers” when they fall down as easy as he does!), but I’ll counter that with a clear straight red card for dangerous play when he charged through the shoulder blades of Davies just before half-time… π
