your not wrong, its really fallen apart and its getting worse, i just hope our owners growq a pair and do something about it, if it was me id sack him and do what ever it takes to get proven winner and free agent Allegri in, we would likley pick up some decent SB in January like his form Juve player and he will come in and show the how to defend and what its like to have a winning strong mentality….

But Sean, by choosing to single Maguire out from a terrible Utd side where 90% of the side are even worse than him, you’re bound to get a reaction. You could have chosen about 25 other Utd players for criticism and nobody would have batted an eyelid. That you singled out Maguire was IMO just a tad bizarre! That’s why people are “going on” as you say

Thing is who could United have in reality signed who was better than Maguire? City wanted him and if there was a surfeit of good quality Centre backs City would have definitely signed one.

Never did get the whole “Pep wanted him so he must be good” thing. If the papers are to believed Pep also wanted Fred and he’s about as far away from being a City quality midfielder as you can get at the moment. Yeah there are worse players at Utd but I think paying what Utd did they would expect more, hence the discussion he generates.

threeps, everyone agrees Maguire wasn’t worth what United paid for him and I certainly wasn’t intimating “Pep wanted him so he must be good” in fact the reverse the cupboard was so bare of half decent Centre Backs at the time of the Maguire signing and that was the reason both United and City wanted him.

Injury jinx hits City again Aguero out for a few weeks now according to Pep.

Fortunately for City in the Aguero position they do have some decent options but Aguero is a special player.

Threeps, every single manager gets signings wrong from time to time but there is no better endorsement in the game than having the two most successful managers in the modern game want to make you their main centre back. Of course that doesn’t automatically prove anything but it’s about as close as you’re going to get in terms of validating someone’s ability.

I’m so bored of this debate now haha. I’m delighted he’s at my club and despite many requests, nobody has been able to provide 1 possible alternative Utd could/should have gone for.

It’s the exact same discussions which were had when Utd signed Lukaku and nobody had a clue who Utd should have signed instead then either!

Who else was gettable? Who was available? Utd needed a centre back. He’s better then what they had.

I can see why they signed him. I tvibk he’s average and I’ve stayed many reasons why.

It baffles you but it baffles me how you tvibk he’s been very good. There are a number of centre backs playing better then him in my opinion and I’ve named them

Sean that’s because realistically there weren’t any alternatives but both United and City wanted him and that was because he was the best of those who were gettable.

I’m so bored of this debate now haha. I’m delighted he’s at my club and despite many requests, nobody has been able to provide 1 possible alternative Utd could/should have gone for. The best young CB in the world was availabale-in M.De Ligt.No idea if United went in for him though,but cost less than Maguire and is a much better player.
