24th November 2019 at 7:51 pm #54050Completely agree with that Chelsea Man. I have no doubt Ferguson is even more influential than usual with one of the boys at the helm as we have now.

24th November 2019 at 7:57 pm #54055Sean I agree with everyone above that Solksjaer is a goner, and the job is clearly too big for him. Indeed when Solksjaer admitted before the Liverpool game that theyβd have a better chance cause Utd were better against more expansive sides and struggled vs defensive ones – such a statement (even if true) is not something that a Man Utd manager should publicly admit. So Iβm with you all on that. But given that no manager looks like they could make top 4 now at Man Utd, I donβt think thereβs quite the rush now to change it. And there does seem to be life there today, and Solksjaer does seem to be getting a reaction out of the kids. Would another manager play and develop the kids for example? Would it maybe be better to let him keep blooding the youngsters for the next 6 months until they make the change? Ed sees more than me so heβll have more insight on what should happen.

24th November 2019 at 8:01 pm #54062It’s a complete new start for me. Even though I’m coming from the camp as an Arch-rival, the youngsters are more enjoyable to watch.
I’m not that much of a fan of Lingard. This is what I can now see how controlling Ferguson was in that 90s era – though if anything, that time was easier than now with the age of the Internet.
I do see slight similarities to Liverpool. The Owners and Chief Ex need to go for United to have a clean break and try and restore their identity as a Manchester based Family Orientated Club.
Ole might well go, but this is then yet another Managerial change. For someone else, whether it’d be Poch or whoever to step still has to wear the narrative of a ‘quick fix’. That won’t happen straight away when there’s players fetching huge weekly wages drawing a huge parallel to the reality of Kids coming through.
That 1989-1990,1991, wasn’t so bad as it was at the time when Liverpool were coming to the end of their dominance. It seems a bit of a co-incidence to label Mark Robins saving Alex Ferguson’s position, but even so, sometimes you have to allow ‘A’ Manager Time.
Whoever is in charge needs a good 5 Years, but priority from my POV is that there needs to be a change at the very top and I’ve seen a fair few times Gary Neville himself alluding to this, in an attempt to restore Manchester United’s Identity.

24th November 2019 at 8:07 pm #54066Cm, “Mourinho in his last days at United suggested that. unless Fergie steps aside completely United wonβt sort themselves.” Really? Where did that come from I’ve not seen that.

24th November 2019 at 8:17 pm #54072Ed fair comments. Iβd rate Johnny Evans the same as maguire. Both decent defenders. Nothing more. Iβve seen nothing from
Maguire this season that stands out.Standout centre backs for me have been vvd, the two Leicester centre backs and Egan off sheff utd.
I think wan bassika would make a much better centre back as he canβt cross a ball but heβs a brilliant defender and no one can get by him

24th November 2019 at 8:18 pm #54073Hmmn, Ferguson in all fairness to himself is at best served as an Ambassador for the Club. He obviously is a retired Gentleman that has to care for his health. Training Ground Visits etc, I think is simply off his own care for the club and courtesy.
Not sure why Jose would bring this to light.
Kenny for example will always be like a God to Us and Anfield’s his second home, yet Jurgen Klopp has never felt a feather of his presence.

24th November 2019 at 8:24 pm #54077Good game. Great comeback but Sheffield deserved a point. You still have to ask about Utd organisation. Hope Poch wasnt watching. (Ole for me!)

24th November 2019 at 8:24 pm #54079Fair points mikius and Ed about ole. He should never have been made permanent in the 1st place but when do utd give managers time to rebuild?
Ole goes and say Poch comes in and has a year like ole, is he sacked then aswell?

24th November 2019 at 8:26 pm #54082Nil huge difference between Kenny and Fergie mate. Kenny left in 91 mate and we fell apart. Fergie only left 7 years ago and is utds beat manager ever. Kenny was a great manager at the time but he was our greatest ever manager in My opinion

24th November 2019 at 8:26 pm #54083It seems to me from what I read and hear, Ed Woodward is basically Ian Ayres.
Our life at Liverpool has been simply better since Ayres left. I don’t think we have any of that nonsense too of a ‘Transfer Committee’ and ‘Moneyball’.
John Henry is laid back – possibly down to Jurgen Klopp’s huge and humble presence though there is a glow of mutual respect, harmony, and Good Positive Energy π π

24th November 2019 at 8:27 pm #54084Sean. I was discussing the same point about Maguire with a friend. The question we were asking was is he an Β£80m defender? Neither of us thought he had shone as yet this season.
