23rd November 2019 at 8:00 pm #53878Yeah Mav I am very underwhelmed with Emery and thought he was far more capable than he is. This squad is better than this. Only a matter of time for him, and silva too.

23rd November 2019 at 8:12 pm #53882Congrats to Brian, Adlab and the City lads. City are still a great team and will get even better as they get important players back.

23rd November 2019 at 8:17 pm #53884Up until Chelsea scored it was end to end stuff, much like basketball, after that it became a football game which suited Man City more. In the end the result was a fair reflection of the game, most importantly from a Chelsea perspective we werenβt out classed and for a team that most thought would struggle weβve shown weβre where we are on merit….Pagan

23rd November 2019 at 8:33 pm #5388528 – 1 , I think the circumstances have made Chelsea a better team, would the board have appointed Frank if there wasn’t a transfer ban, don’t reckon they would. Your excellent young players would not have got the game time if the transfer ban wasn’t in place.
You are bankers for a CL place in my mind & with a young team that will only improve, I’d be made up if I supported Chelsea this season._____________________________

23rd November 2019 at 8:47 pm #53891Chelsea had city when they went 1-0. Chelsea needed that 2nd goal as city were always going to have their moments.
City scored and the match changed. City were much more compact and they managed the game well. Chelsea gave them a hell of a game but city just have so many good players going forward

23rd November 2019 at 8:49 pm #53892Shiney. kind words mate and much appreciated. As you rightly say circumstances created this situation, next season could be interesting for us with no transfer restrictions.

24th November 2019 at 1:08 am #53897Anonymous“They need a real quality central midfielder to be able to hold that ball”
Chelsea do? They have loads of quality in that midfield. You could argue that their midfield is better than ours. Remember that Chelsea were playing away to City. No team out-possesses City, never-mind in Manchester. I think we did one time and it was this huge deal, like it broke some long standing Pep record or something? I can’t remember specifically but City got back into the game with a very lucky goal that would have had a psychological affect on the players. I don’t think they NEED anyone if I’m honest but just that experience to cope when something like that goes against them.
Mikus, there will be a lot of hard lessons learned in this first season. Even for the first attempt though, I think criticism of the implementation is where we need to direct our displeasure and not get too caught up in the “This is terrible, so get rid of VAR” thing (not talking about you but all supporters in general, especially the lads who were on the fence about the technology).
So far, in my opinion their hamfisted approach to Video reffing has ruined several games so far. I think we’ve got to grin and bare it but also hope that it doesn’t swing the title in anyones favour , even ours.. and I’m deadly serious. I can’t imagine the endless abuse we’d get if a VAR mistake handed us our first PL title in 30 years. If Klopp then felt he had had enough of this project and left, it would almost certainly be our last title for another long time.. can you imagine that!? …
So, I just hope that even through it’s awfulness, that it isn’t awfully decisive π

24th November 2019 at 10:37 am #53914What I was noticing was the quickness from defence to attack and I felt there was a slight shortage in midfield to orchestrate the intensity and be in control of possession. This is where I think they need a strong central midfielder – somebody to knock passes around.
Kante yes, but Jorginho I never been a fan of as he just seems only interested in giving fouls. Hazard is missed, but I think too, Chelsea miss that Essien type of player and come to think of it Jon Obi Mikel. City did get more exposed on Mendy’s left-hand side, but on other occasions, they were able to comfortably absorb Chelsea’s attacking threat.
Above all though, some passages of play the way the balls were threaded were great to watch – City although eventual winners to me were far from convincing.
