nb, a shame City didn’t drop points?
Liverpool aren’t really chasing City far far too much to make up against a City side who are flying. 12 points which is effectively 13 with the goal difference.Bar possibly United nobody is.

28th October 2017 at 5:33 pm #6772999, that was driven on spite mate as a competitive point of view as I don’t want City to be winning every week. They been impressive don’t get me wrong and I’d credit them, but just don’t want to see them pick up 3 points every week.

28th October 2017 at 5:56 pm #6778I think Utd are most neutrals’ choice to win the league 999. The people’s choice, if you will ?

29th October 2017 at 10:46 am #6815Just browsed on the BBC website, so there’s an article criticising Jose for winning 1-0, and on the other hand (once a again!) waxed lyrical on Man City.
Nothing’s changed since last week points-diff between the 2 Manchester clubs. There’s just added thrust on being critical towards Jose whilst bigging up Pep. I’m not a fan of neither don’t get me wrong, but it’s this in my view that’s killing a steady flow of week by week football, and just absorbing it all as a fan.

29th October 2017 at 11:14 am #6816Well Nil let me explain as you appear to have been living in a cave the past three months. United are playing quite alot of boring some would call ot negative football which is not how they played under Fergusson and City on the other hand are playing exciting attacking football and tearing up the record books nearly every week. Alan Shearer even decribed it as game changing as he has seen nothing like it before.

29th October 2017 at 11:25 am #6817nb,ha,ha, I remember when you were a City fan. By the way Holstein Pils haven’t sponsored Spurs since 2002.?
Massive task for even Spurs to catch City who are 8 points ahead which with goal difference is effectively 9 points.
Re your last post above as to why Pep gets the positive press he does v the negative press Jose gets the reason is that Pep sets us teams up to play attacking football whilst Jose takes a more pragmatic approach.
I suspect when City go to Liverpool they won’t be set up as defensively as United were the other week.
To be fair to Jose his pragmatic approach has been very successful previously in winning titles whether it will work this season is a matter of conjecture because this City team are at a different level certainly offensively to any team we’ve seen in the PL in a while.

29th October 2017 at 11:32 am #6820How many United games have you watched this season Jim?
United have been far from being negative or boring. They have won a fair few games 4 nil, outplayed most oppositions with the exception of Liverpool and Huddersfield. In comparison to City, their football has not been on par, but no other side have matched City’s style of play this season.
Yesterday in the 2nd half, United outplayed Spurs, testing Lloris numerous times, hitting the post. United have been far from negative or boring. They are the 2nd highest gold scorers in the league so far, outscoring Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool who are known for playing good football. A negative boring side would not have that stat to their name.

29th October 2017 at 11:47 am #6823Jim, I would give credence to their consistency, but what’s anything new from last week or the week before? To much thinking time me thinks. The pundits maybe in the BBC studio are running out of compliments!
A mere 10 games and it’s portrayed by certain sections of the media as if to say they have already won it. And on the basis of attacking football, this time last year, we were high-flying until it went all pear-shaped for us.

29th October 2017 at 11:50 am #6824Nine, haha, it’s a clear distinction that stays with me 🙂 🙂
On the point re Jose, I’m not a fan of his or his style of football as such, but I don’t get him being criticised when his team beat a top quality outfit and took all 3 points. What does it matter to anyone if it’s 1-0 or 4-0?
There’s just too much focus on Man City at the moment me thinks and not enough of the other PL teams are given equal spotlight.

29th October 2017 at 12:13 pm #6826Fair enough Fergie time. I supose I was thinking of the Huddersfield and Liverpool games. And saw a stat that indicated you were not very attacking in the first half yesterday. Would you say it’s as attacking under Mouriniho as it was under Fergusson?

29th October 2017 at 12:54 pm #6827During the first half yesterday, Spurs outplayed United in terms of possession, but never really threatened in the final 3rd. United were on the back foot because they could not get hold of the ball.
I would say this sides style of play with the exception of the Liverpool game has been on par with the Cantona era. At times good to watch, but nothing spectacular. Ferguson sides played good football, but he also had phases when he didn’t for example his first 4-5 seasons, his final 4-5 seasons and between 03-06.

29th October 2017 at 1:02 pm #6828You need good solid financial clout and to be able to back the Manager. Granted, Pep had his first season experience in the PL and he wanted insist on his style of football. He made the necessary changes and clearly is not backwards when needing to move certain individuals on in order to address issues properly.
That’s where with my own club I feel aggrieved that we are still sticking with certain individuals inspite of bringing in new faces, possibly because they themselves haven’t hit the ground straight away.
