Sean, I’m actually being positive in the sense that I think City can actually be beaten this season if we get our attack back on track. The fact that we are just 2 points behind a top City side is actually hugely encouraging. I think we all know this team can get better, but this opportunity *has* to be seized upon so I make no apology for being over critical. We can’t guarantee some players won’t leave next season or we suffer bad injuries – whilst City are beatable, the opportunities to challenge and beat them are much harder to find for a club like us who haven’t had the same resources.

25th November 2018 at 7:19 pm #28474AnonymousSean, it’s not quite as solid as it sounds to compare the start of this season to last. As last seas went on, we progressed as a team, developmentally. Just because we’re back to the start of a new one, doesn’t mean that our development has reset to the previous year.
I think you’re focusing too much of this “negativity”. I say that because I don’t see it as negativity myself, even if it sounds like it. For me it’s worry or a cautious approach. We all know the results are brilliant and it’s about sustaining those results. If you look at some of our matches, we came very close to losing a few, or not winning others. I don’t say that we’re here because of luck but luck as definitely been more in favour than against, by some bit.
That said, we are here on merit, with one of the best defences in the world right now. We might be scoring goals but we are definitely lacking the flow and killer instinct that we had for most of last season.
The more genuinely negative side of things might be in discussions about the 2 new lads in midfield. Neither are working out so far. How long before we start to lose hope that they will ever work out? There are strong rumours that Fabinho is already done at the club. Personally I think they are BS but you won’t see me saying that they are 100% unfounded. Maybe Klopp cant get him to do what he bought him for? It’s a small possibility. A very uncomfortable thought…
For the record, I still think Fabinho will be a success at the club.

25th November 2018 at 7:21 pm #28475AnonymousIn the past it’s been me who’s been unable to fathom negativity, or just being really positive etc… Don’t get me wrong, I do often think of our position in the table and how amazing it is.

25th November 2018 at 9:42 pm #28479The front 3 have 20 goals between them after 17 games. That’s not bad. My point is we didn’t get going till around this time later
The minute we scored yday the game opened up. Every team sits back againest us.
Mikus fair points mate. My problem people are focusing on the attack when we are still scoring goals. It can be better but ffs you would swear they had done fuck all this season

25th November 2018 at 9:44 pm #28480Don’t believe that for a minute about fabhino
Robertson only started to get going at Brighton in December. Ox in Jan. Both were wrote off aswell. They will be given time and there’s absolutely no chance fabhino will be sold in Jan.

26th November 2018 at 2:49 am #28485AnonymousYa, I don’t think it’s true about Fab but that’s not the same thing as me knowing for sure that we’re not seeing a puff of smoke, if you catch my drift.
There was that one game, the Anfield tie against the Serbs and Fabinho was just incredible. It was that moment where I knew I wanted t see Fabinho start the following matches but he’s so far not managed to show the same promise in the PL ties since. I wonder if Klopp will play him in the derby? It might be a bit of a shock for a player who has struggled with the intensity of the PL but on the other hand, the derby has always been an opportunity got players to step up and show that they’ve got what it takes. From MacAllister to Van Dijk on his debut, it certainly doesn’t hurt to put in a performance against them.
On the other hand, he could be found completely out of his depth but look at our other options. Keita has a tendency to pick up reds, so is this the game for him? Who knows, maybe the same applies to him regards opportunities. With Henderson out, one of them will surely make an appearance.
I guess they have one more match before then to help Klopp make his mind up. As for the forwards, ya they have quite a few goals now. Salah and Mane with 13 PL goals between them isnt bad and has certainly been improving.

26th November 2018 at 9:27 am #28497Mikus ye we developed as a team as the season went on so why can’t we this season?last season we were dropping silly points at this stage. We can go up a gear but I’m still enjoying watching us play and I’m delighted the defence has come in leaps and bounds when even with the signing of vvd, people thought we would still ship goaks.

26th November 2018 at 9:36 am #28498AnonymousI assume you meant me 😛
To answer your question, I never said we can’t develop as we did last season, if fact the trend with Klopp at the club indicates that we will. Reason I brought up the thing about last season is just in how I think it’s best to view the progression. not as seasons placed next to eachother but to think of it as one linear line. Now, if you think of it that way, I think the decline of our quality in attack is more apparent. I’m not going to mention the factors I’ve stated above and before for and against why there has been a change but only saying that there has been. The attack is improving though, which is all we can hope for. We’re not leaking goals/points and we broke a stubborn team down. there are no complaints here.
