Violent conduct and retrospective red cards.

What are the precise rules on retrospective red cards. Does there have to be intent and or contact. I am puzzled as to how Lukaku didn’t get a retrospective ban? Might not have been much contact but there was definite intent. On other occasions there has been contact but no proven intent.

Jim, I think Lukaku is a lucky boy and he got away with one there.

The three man panel all have to agree following a review of the video evidence which looked damning to me and I suspect pretty much everybody else too I listened to Graham Poll on it and he was adamant it was a red card and that it was probably somehow a 2 to 1 verdict which got Lukaku off.

Either that or it was Richard Scudamore telling the panel that City were so far in front now in the PL that it’s become embarrassing so please find Lukaku innocent in order to give United a better opportunity of perhaps pulling 3 points back on them.?

Well nine that’s what the conspiracy theorists are saying no doubt regarding scudmore. I struggling to believe that to be honest. But at the same time can’t see much of reason why he escaped a ban. Not too bothered whether he plays or not to be honest as I think with Rashford and or martial in the side United are probably more dangerous. Just don’t understand the rule with regards to intent.

Costa would never have got away with that.?

Jim, I don’t think there was an argument on intent or not Lukaku seemingly had two goes at the Brighton player with the last one catching him albeit no damage was done.

So what do the rules state then nine? Personally I fail to see how he has not got a retrospective red card.

It’s all down to all three of the panel agreeing Jim. Which for whatever reason they didn’t on the Lukaku situation.
