I genuinely am pleased with it Jim. That just enriched me wholeheartedly. Jeez, the amount of times the clichΓ©s have been rolled out for VT, 15-18 years, I really am grabbing this with both hands π

27th January 2018 at 11:42 pm #13956I did see with BT Sport in between allowing the explanation, half-time. If we are treating this seriously as a long term solution and commitment, then with the way things have panned out tonight, I’m subscribing.
I get fans will moan, but this is the first port of call and over the course of time, there’s always room to improve the way we are delivering VAR.
P.S new Toy of Tech haha π π
Is he related to KITT π π

28th January 2018 at 10:45 am #13971As someone who was at the game last night, and as someone whose team the VAR helped last night, I can categorically state the system is a bloody farce. Stood on the Kop, we and no-one around us had a clue what was going on, what the Baggies goal was ruled out for, and even the Salah penalty which was down the far end of the ground, people were asking around me while the decision was being made, would VAR decide it would have to be either a penalty or Salah would get punished for diving (is that a booking, a sending off??).
Football is a simple game, decisions are sometimes got wrong, but don’t make the game more complicated. The time spent coming to the decisions was ridiculous and the unanimous opinions around me last night was that it didn’t add to the game. It broke the flow, it broke the momentum, but most importantly, no-one inside the stadium, including the players and the managers knew what was happening, and that surely can’t be right.

28th January 2018 at 11:08 am #13975We had no sound on, so couldn’t figure out why one of West Brom’s header was ruled out.
Obviously in majority, those decisions went in our favour which was pleasing.
For Cricket, this is effectively used really to serve one purpose: OUT or NOT OUT.
Football on the other hand has more complexities. Those stood in the stands wondering what’s going on, I think on the screen there should be stipulation of what’s happening on the tv screens:
EG: Goal ruled out for offside. Just a short sentence outlining what has happened and the reason. That way fans aren’t lost and don’t feel disrupted.

28th January 2018 at 11:33 am #13982It’s got to be clearer to the fans in the Stadium a bit like it is in Rugby with the big screen used to review the decisions. Despite the time lag and nobody in the ground knowing what was going on the positive was all the decisions were correct.

28th January 2018 at 6:35 pm #14022Sound point by one of the Callers on 606 tonight. Nine, I think it may have been you mate making the point about Rugby. This is obviously a novelty in football with the trialling of VAR, and there has to be Guidelines put in place as to how players from both sets of teams should be conducting themselves.
One rule should definitely be not to crowd a Referee otherwise a 10 minute sin-bin system could be implement as a sanction.
Cheers

28th January 2018 at 7:13 pm #14026They need to speed it up, but as long as it helps the ref make the right decision I think it’s good for the game.

29th January 2018 at 10:43 am #14045For me VAR is nothing but just a PR campaign by a terrible FA who can’t clamp down certain incidents from the game. how did Morata wasn’t given that Penalty, yet 3 days later Sterling got one for similar challenge? you see the VAR is only a system, as long as the same personnel remains in place. VAR or not things would be bleak for some clubs. i’m not even paying any attention to that front. some clubs are benefiting others get a legitimate call turned and some sent off.

29th January 2018 at 11:29 am #14051I was genuinely happy and refreshed to see the ability of decisions overturned – re Saturday Night.
It’s not essentially the Tech’s fault in itself but the way it’s managed.
It’s early days yet, but I’m sure they’ll be guidelines, and I’m sure behind the scenes, they’ll set some sort of a target of time to follow up disputes and resolve them quickly to enable a more flowing game.

29th January 2018 at 12:15 pm #14055Gonna play devils advocate here, but the Salah penalty, even with the reply I wouldn’t have given it. It seemed to me he was “theatrically” falling before the cross was even made, let alone made zero attempts to stay on his feet. Even with LiVARpool in action, it was still bloody soft to say the least and I do have a genuine suspicion the reason why it was given was more to do with teh ref deciding if he didn’t give it, heΓ€d have to book Salah for “exxageration”..

29th January 2018 at 1:31 pm #14060Got to disagree
NineGoldie, I reckon the ref set the wrong precident with the Salah “incident”… if that’s a penalty, then every corner in every game is going to have the buggers asking for VAR…_____________________________

29th January 2018 at 1:32 pm #140619, asked Chuckles this, on the WBA disallowed goal, when the corner was taken the Pool goalie pushes with both hands the defender that was subsequently judged offside. Surely if VAR was used they should have picked that up.
Chuckles quite rightly said it happens many times in each game, but a push is a push.
Your thoughts 9?

29th January 2018 at 1:38 pm #14063Don’t actaully remember that part of the passage of play… which is annoying, but if there was an initial shove from Ming the Merciless, then that surely should be the “first” incident?

29th January 2018 at 1:40 pm #14064Salah made a plea to the Referee on the pitch because he felt aggrieved. He didn’t just fall casually to the ground, he was impeded.
The Referee then referred this to VAR who then decided to award Liverpool the Penalty.
I’ve lost count the number of times, we’ve been in this situation and I’m sure other fans out there feel exactly the same about THEIR team. There are individuals diving out there and it’s them the officials need to get hold of.

29th January 2018 at 1:42 pm #14065You’re right Nil, he didn’t just fall casually to the ground, he managed to fall whilst flicking up both ankles and flinging both arms around in the air like he had been electrocuted… π
We can agree or more likely disagree on whether that was a penalty or not (I still say not), but if you’re going to try and tell me Salah didn’t make a 3 course 5 star meal out of it then I’m going to have to call you rude names and remind you that NKOTB are a bunch of twats.
