Mikus, it has to have intent, which it didn’t. I think that they ought to show what the ref sees and also play the audio. There’s no way that was a sending off, the appeal was successful, VAR and the ref got it wrong. VAR was sold to stop this sort of thing happening…Pagan

No doubt, but the ref saw the contact and player reaction first which spooked him. Any intent was then effectively assumed and slow motion made it *look* worse. Not saying that’s right just giving my analysis on why the ref acted as he did. If there should be absolute justice, the player should also be criticised for going down as though he’d been shot.

As Moyes said it’s up to the refs to punish those easy fake fallers but instead they send off the players that hardly touched them. When I played at the top we never showed opposition we are hurt even if we were. It’s a disgrace the way they react today just to get an opposition player sent off or to gain an advantage.

The West Ham sending off came down to human error by the Referee VAR allowed him to review the situation again and he got it wrong.

Yes 9, they got to the right decision in the end. However he should never have been sent off in the first place, the ref got it totally wrong, what they need is some sort of video technology the ref can look at to make sure he gets his decisions right….Pagan

Everyone agrees that the Ref got it totally wrong but what would you suggest Pagan that beats being able to run the incident back on a video screen in slo mo if necessary?

Personally I can’t think of how that can be improved.

Seriously though, questions need to be asked how they came to that decision.

I would like them to record or broadcast the conversations between the VAR and ref and then only see the video feed they see so we can see how they get to the decisions they do…..Pagan

Clearly the Ref got it wrong, but whats new???? Refs have always got things wrong, my belief is the standard needs to be raised and stop messing around with the rules. The real culprits are those not giving enough evidence to the Ref by good judgement by themselves. We are in a mess and it needs sorting. I am reluctant to put too much blame on the Refs though without involving others
