Chuckster all jokes aside your mob impress me more than any others, spent f all & still top 4 & a real shot at C/L final, very impressive.
Absolutely Liverpool have spend a hell of a lot of money yet are still not even in the ballpark when it comes to city. The difference is city (& Chelsea, yes 9 you’ll still deny money isn’t the major factor) both got sugar daddy’s that just had a never ending chequebook & said “buy what you need to win”. So they spent insane money over a few seasons & won competitions. As I said we have spent massive money but it certainly wasn’t just a never ending chequebook, it’s been a very gradual build up yet here we are still not winning anything. That’s what I meant Mak by saying so close yet so far away.
Basically chuckster you made my point, if you don’t invest massive money you don’t win anything. Sad but it’s what sport is these days ever more so than before & it’s why I don’t get overly invested in it any more.
Dogs are wrestles, got to go for a trot.

Oz, all I’m saying mate is that Liverpool buying the 4 players they did in a 6 month period turned them from top 4 challengers into title challengers and potentially title winners.

No matter what a Club spends it’s who they spend it on that counts and Klopp bought very well as has Pep predominantly.

I have always acknowledged that Chelsea’s good fortune in having Abramovich as an owner and the money he invested in transfers was a major factor in the Club’s success and took the Club from winning Cups and being top 4 challengers to the very top of the tree. Cheers 999

Ozzie… nobody is saying Pool has spent as much as City, I think the point (my point!) could be better explained by suggesting when Pool fans look up at City and complain about City’s resources, there’s a hell of a lot of fans looking up at BOTH City and Liverpool, thinking BOTH of them spend a lot of money…

At the end of the day, and I’ve said this before, got no real problem with whoever spending a ton of cash, there’s always been a team with more resources than the others, always will be, and yes, those certain clubs who have taken it to another level will always have an * next to them. They may have won some pots, and I’m sure the fans don’t care, but will they ever really have any respect?? Probably not… (and yes, I’d rather have the pots!!)

True enough. Liverpool’s ability to spend has been on a pretty sharp incline since FSG took over. We were the biggest shambles before then. They got us for a song and just had to put good business practices in place of the shoddy rubbish that we had before them.

GJ, that’s something I’d like to get back into although I’ve struck a bit of a deal at work to keep me out of boredom for the summer and beat the Students to it.

I still like the 5 day Test Matches when England play at home. Like seeing all the different grounds too.

Yeah Chuckster I’m with you, a few of my rugby league mates chop into me about football 0-0 draws yet they watch test match cricket for 5 pain staking days & they get a draw. Standard test match cricket over – Block, block, block, block, play & miss, block, Over. Yet another thrilling maiden.

There’s a lot of tactics and strategy in Test Match Cricket.

I love it particularly the Ashes Series even if you just get there for a day last Ashes Series over here I was at Cardiff next to the Aussie fans brilliant banter and not an inkling of trouble.

I spend a lot of time watching cricket, both kids play, one at county level. 4&5 day cricket can be a bit boring, however sitting in the sun drinking beer all day does compensate for that.

One day cricket and T20 are far more entertaining and you also get to have a beer whilst watching.

Chucky, ha,ha, that’s true mate. I guess if you’ve grown up playing Cricket and I played all through school and then played Club Cricket afterwards you’ve grown up to love the game.

As Pagan says if you want excitement then it’s the T20 and the One dayers that give you that.
