3rd May 2019 at 9:28 am #39715Stevo, mak ,oz etc appreciate the replies.
I never really mention money. It’s not how much you spend but how you spend it.
Chelsea bought so well under Jose. Pep the same at city even Klopp at Liverpool
As much as people don’t want to hear it, net spend is how clubs spending is judged. Gary Neville constantly goes on about it. Nine as well for years
Yet now Liverpool’s spending on here is not being judged on net spend. The fact is city don’t have to sell to buy. Liverpool would not have spend like they did on the summer only for the couthino sale
People bypass that to suit their arguments. Us and spurs have the lowest net spend since Klopp took over
Nine is agreeing that we spend 380m but we haven’t. Nine always argued net spend for Chelsea now it’s different for Liverpool?
Be consistent in your opinion guys and don’t let club bias come into it
Liverpool have spent huge money but it can’t be compared to utd or cities spending.,

3rd May 2019 at 9:34 am #39716Stevo my Klopp comments are more about us not being able to get over the final hurdle for some reason
We have been unfortunate and I think we used all our luck up in 05!
My reason on pep is his team have only dropped about 30 points in two seasons?
So do people think city will drop down 30 points next season? I certainly don’t
Mak, I said the minute we let this out of our hands , ciry would pick up the pace. I said it right after the Everton game which we needed to win to stay in control
It is over without a shadow of a doubt. A team like city will not drop points in their next two games. It be 14 wins a row and they will fully deserve it

3rd May 2019 at 9:36 am #39717i have not mentioned liverpool spend Net or otherwise, you hasve spent big and you have spent well, you have though as you say had to sell to do that, my only point is, moaning about city now is not only futile but silly, look at every team that won the PL since inception, year by year, look at those years, squad and player costs and the only ones that have not bought the league was Leicester and Arsenal once or twice (and that being generous and comparing against being up agtainst united and chelsea at various times…

3rd May 2019 at 9:52 am #39719they will dominate in the same way that Chelsea and United did in certasin periods but not to the extent in my view as though they have the bes tmanager and most money its still football which is why EVEN with this they could still end up missing out on PL and CL this year and “only” winning 2 domestic cups which from the position they were in will actually be a poor season, the margins really are that fine and with the top teams soon to play catch up, chelsea will recover at some point, we hopefully will, you guys will continue, Man U will get back up there (hopefully in 20 years or so) and the spuds are doiong things right so all is not as it was for most the PL history in comparison

In comaprsion, City have – 1.07 BILLION!!!!

3rd May 2019 at 10:41 am #39725Sean, I’ve not mentioned £380m I merely voted up Banjos post because I agreed with the general theme of it.
I’ve said previously Liverpool are challenging for the title this season because they spent circa £250m on 4 players in 6 months adding them to an already good team, managed by an already very good Manager and it was the biggest investment by any Club in that period. And I stand by that.
Good luck to Liverpool I don’t care where the money comes from as long as it falls within the FFP rules which I’m sure it does and I’m glad Liverpool did what they did because it made the title race interesting for everyone this season.
And ultimately net spend is the only way to judge transfer expenditure.

3rd May 2019 at 11:01 am #39730That’s the thing Buffy, it’s football, a game were an awful lot of overpaid pampered pricks earn in a week what most of us take a decade to earn, to kick a frigging ball about and fall over when somebody dares to tackle them… you’ve got to laugh at it really, haven’t you?
I always thought kudos started with a K? 🙂

3rd May 2019 at 11:09 am #39735Anonymous“Despite Klopp spending 380 million on players, comments here are about what City have spent. Say City didn’t exist, this would mean Liverpool would win the league this year, having allowed Klopp to spend 380 million to get there… could this also be considered buying success?? ”
You guys hate it when we mention Coutinho, well then you’re gonna have to take his fees out of your figures. You don’t want to count the £120m+ that we’ve got for Coutinho? Too bad! Because our squad lost his talent. It’s not magic, we converted an asset into cash, which was REINVESTED into the team. So we’ve lost a player, converted him into money and then spent the money again. he hasn’t been our sole sale either. We’ve done quite well with the decisions we’ve made to try and improve our position.
As for the rest of the money, it’s almost entirely generated by the club itself and I’m not talking about hyper-inflated indirect juicing. There are no friends of friends parachuting money into our coffers.
The comparison is incredibly fragile. To buy success, the money must come externally, without merit. The vast majority of Liverpool’s expenditure can be attributed to the clubs performance both on the field and off it. Coutinho being only one glowing example of how to turn £8m into £120m+. Suarez was just before Klopp’s time but we made a profit on him also.
Some transfers :
Suarez = £65m
Coutinho = £121m (so far)
Solanke = £19m
ward = £12m
Sakho = £25m
Ibe = £16m
Allen = £12mthey are just some noteworthy ones over the past few years. Sometimes we’ve had to deal with losing real quality in the team, other times they are just GREAT business on our part.
year totals :18/19 IN : £164m
18/19 OUT: £34.6M17/18 IN : £156.5M
17/18 OUT : £166M16/17 IN : £72M
16/17 OUT : £76M15/16 IN : £112M
15/16 : £81Mtotal IN : £504M
total out : £357mThat’s £147m over 4 years = £36m a season on average.
That’s from transfers ALONE. We made about £70m from last seasons CL run alone. We’ll have made quite a bit this season too. Our revenue otherwise has increased with our sponsorship deals increasing and also the new stand adding value to the club and increasing match day revenue quite dramatically.
The 2 CL runs pay for almost all of the remainder from those 4 years. So the increased revenue streams from all others are all tacking onto the clubs value.
So , we’ve bought absolutely fucking nothing.

3rd May 2019 at 11:19 am #39737Calm down Micky… 🙂
What link Buffy?
There was a report a couple of weeks back, that with the projected income from our new stadium, we’re supposedly (cough!) going to be matching YooUtds turnover, with or without CL footy… makes your calculators boggle with the thought… off course, don’t mean nothing if Poncho can’t spend it!
