60’s?? That was before Liverpool were good, right?? 🙂
And 10 quid for two Oasis CD’s?? You paid about 9 quid too much, although I suppose a quid for two new shiny beer coasters isn’t too bad…

2nd May 2019 at 7:00 pm #39662Chucks, didn;t you point out to me 58 years the other day? 😀 Tottenham actually won something 😛 😉
This one could well be unpopular but after shelling out on a Nice new CD deck, I have gone back to buying CD’s from scratch, and all The Originals too.
Just need a nice new Graphic Equalizer or one of those new Surround Sound Bluetooth speakers with PA style sound 🙂

2nd May 2019 at 7:02 pm #39663This is an odd one because it may appear to actually be a popular opinion but let me explain.
David Beckham was a great player.
Unpopular because, amongst real football fans I believe the majority don’t think he was very good and that the celebrity status was unwarranted in relation to his ability. I mean he was the famous player in the world. Was he the best player in the world? No. But IMO he is better than most real football fans gave him credit for. Case in point, playing himself back into that star studded Real side after the super strict Cappello froze him out.
Utd, Real, Milan, PSG. Played for some of the world’s absolute top sides and never once looked out of place. Not as naturally talented as many but in terms of making the most of his ability through sheer hard work, he was a great IMO.
His performance in that game against Greece for England including the last minute free kick is still the best single performance in an England shirt for many years imo.

CreditBeautiful right foot.
I always liked him because he never Moaned. He just got on with it. Never said anything bad about Fergie and still refers to him

2nd May 2019 at 7:45 pm #39674This not a popular opinion ion but it’s one I’ve stayed a few times.
I think Klopp will leave Liverpool
Without a trophy.Nothing to do with the man. More about ciry are going to do dominate the league as long as pep is there.
We are always so near yet so far. It’s been a very good season but yet again we will end it trophyless and for me it’s so disappointing as it’s the only thing missing from
A fantastic reignWe just can’t get over the line? Why is that?
We are unfortunate in my opinion.
Any other season the league be over with our points tally yet we are up againest the brilliant city
Cl final our best player gets injured
Pl
5 years ago our best player slipsKlopp has lost his last 6 finals. The club their last 4.
From a lfc fans point of view it be tragic if Klopp leaves trophyless as it’s the best team we have had in decades. He’s put together a fabulous side that night achieve nothing

3rd May 2019 at 5:12 am #39688AnonymousSean, I won’t pretend that this isn’t something that i have in the back of my mind. You could be right but not for a second have you thought that he might be fired, so as long as this continues, then he’s doing well enough.
I don’t need (necessarily) Klopp to win anything to think of him as a success in most ways. Of course though it would then become some great tragedy, for him to develop our team in an honestly incredible fashion…. But I don’t think the project is even in fruition yet. As I said in the other thread, I don’t think we’ve peaked and have a ways to go still.
I have argued in the past that we have more potential than City. This was at a time when they were expected to be 15-20 points ahead of us now but I still think the same. I could be wrong but City ewon’t break any records this year. We will break our own records. The curve is still going up for us and I hope we’ve a big summer ahead, even if we hear there won’t be one.
I guess we’ll see. We’ve come close to the CL now 2 years in a row and we’ve come close to the PL now. If there isn’t some huge deflation after this season (near misses can hurt projects) then I’m confident we’ll be a better team this time next season.

3rd May 2019 at 5:45 am #39689Sean I think you are right, for all the good Klopp has done at LFC it’s just bad luck who we are up against.
I know mine is an unpopular opinion but I think football is simply dominated by money, there is absolutely zero loyalty from players & fans are the only ones with any attachment to clubs.
I have bleated about city many times & whilst I do admit they weren’t dominant until Pep took over, the fact is if they didn’t have the money to simply outspend everyone they would not be so dominant. FFP stopped others just getting a sugar daddy as well & competing with their financial muscle so they had a massive head start by assembling the most expensive squad ever. Everyone else is playing catch up & they just have to add a couple of worldies to their already huge squad & they will stay ahead of the rest. As I said not many agree & that’s fine with me but nothing will change my views on this & I fully expect city to boringly win the EPL for the next couple of seasons at least. IMO they have bought titles but I suppose that’s what football is these days, just like most sports & is the reason I don’t really care to much about sports these days.
Anyhow back to the preparation for my winter hibernation._____________________________

3rd May 2019 at 6:33 am #39690AnonymousI don’t disagree with the sentiments. It’s just i think you go too far in talking about the PL as if all 38 games have been played. It’s one thing to say you don’t think we’ll win the PL (we most likely won’t) but to say there is absolutely no chance and speak about it in a manner as if it you were talking about last season… I can’t agree with this at all.
If I didn’t know yourself and Sean better (top lads), I would think that you guys were taking credit away from our own project and how close we’ve run City so far. I’ve known ye both for years though, so I know better but it still doesn’t read well sometimes. I have said before that I get the negativity, as you’re generally right about City. I do think Pep has maximised the tools available to him though and deserves credit for that but, you’re still not wrong with regards to them buying this success. This could lead sown a whole discussion about FFP and how it needs to be improved upon but that’s for another day.
Adding the money side of things to our kinda bad luck in terms not winning trophies and i can see where you are coming from but I think you’ve got to weigh that against the other teams who didn’t get to support a team in a title race this season. We’re unlucky in a sense but also extremely lucky to have such good owners, a world class sporting director and manager. They are all in-sync with each other and the team improves year on year.
With all of this in mind, surely the teams efforts this season deserve more than the waving of a white flag?
The best successes in any walk of life, come from an uphill battle. I try not to get my hopes up too much but the possibility is still alive that we can win this PL. I think the team that manages it this season, takes an extra special title.
Hang in there.

3rd May 2019 at 7:11 am #39692The issue I personally have about the whole “buying success” is simply there has always been a team that has bought success. Despite Klopp spending 380 million on players, comments here are about what City have spent. Say City didn’t exist, this would mean Liverpool would win the league this year, having allowed Klopp to spend 380 million to get there… could this also be considered buying success??
Money isn’t everything, look at YooUtd for an example, there is a lot more to it than blank checks. Although I’ll be the first to admit it bloody helps! 🙂
And, yes, I’m pretty sure have the biggest checks during Liverpool’s glory years certainly helped maintain that glory in that period. Doubt you Micky Mousers were complaining then…

3rd May 2019 at 7:53 am #39694pretty sure both City, and Pool (and several other clubs) speant ridonculous amounts of money the time Leicester won the PL….money helps, its important but to say Pool or anyone else cant or wont win the PL because of City/cash and Pep is silly IMHO
it was the same with Chelsea, they won lots but not every year for a decade…
should I moan because when we actually did manage to win the PL a few times we were up against one of the best PL teams in united who had always spent so much more cash?
if Klopp does end up leaving with no trophy it will be down to Klopp and his team, he could win a domestic cup, the PL or any other on offer and has shown this by consistant challenges…he also managed to beat a pretty good Bayern team when at Dortmund….
i hate to do it but i agree wit the chuckle brother, every team (almost) at the time they won the PL spent BIG money and could be said to have an unfair advantage, including with Blackburn…..
in fact over this period the only club who hasnt is Leicester and in comparison, Arsenal….
ive said this before, those saying trhe PL is bought and complaining its the same for all clubs, Man U always the richest and spent the most…Blackburns owner started the process of “buying the PL” though it cost him personally, then you have City and Chelsea
i dont think city will be as dominant as united were for as long as they were either….
