Thanks for your replies. Nike and Mikus. That’s exactly what I would expect from you guys..just
total common sense. And probably the attitude of most Liverpool fans. Total rivals. Yes. But also total respect.
Same with United. Yes I want them to lose every game but I don’t slag off their owners. United have never been short of spending just short of good management. If they had been playing Madrid well err…..😇_____________________________

30th May 2022 at 5:28 pm #196451It just shows the so called experts get it wrong. ‘5 strikers’ we couldn’t buy a goal in normal time of any of our finals.
We need a rest than a full deconstruction at this moment in time.

30th May 2022 at 7:17 pm #196452Mikus/Nike…I think we are “over fed” with experts who forget the simple logic of this is a game of football and anything can happen, so why are they so “expert” in predicting the unknown?. I guess the answer comes down to “it is an opinion” well that is just like us fans and we are probably as good if not better than them because there bias shows through. Have you also noticed the relapse back into the time when they were playing and clips are shown, for me, I do not want to know what they did but talk about the game they are supposed to talk about, why it should take so long to say the same thing I do not know

30th May 2022 at 7:38 pm #196454Brian, I think social media has exacerbated the problem, with players and pundits now effectively marketing themselves worldwide and becoming part of the story themselves. And with pundits now not hiding their bias really anymore, it creates a more provocative environment that no doubt helps gain more views and clicks. Some sense can still be spoken, but there’s a lot of clickbait material out there now, but again it’s the fans tribal nature that helps sustain it all. Football has become one hell of a big gravy train in the internet age.

30th May 2022 at 9:01 pm #196455Mikus, perfectly summed up and 300% in agreement.
Personally, re Neville and Carragher, I think SS should consider new blood. These individuals have been covering for a number of years and also involved on social media. Bias will inevitably manifest. After all, they are football fans with an affiliation to their former playing clubs.
Social Media Platforms and articles are worsening because of the lack of measured reporting. The slant is more towards being critical and accentuating ‘failures’ than highlighting a decent account on what has been accomplished.
Gravy Train is definitely one way of describing it. A Rat-race is definitely another and to the point of so much from all quarters that it’s becoming an overkill beyond just an innocent game of football.

30th May 2022 at 9:11 pm #196456I heard on Jeremy Wine’s show earlier on Radio 2 about a female fan having her Ticket snatched whilst she presented it at the turnstile on her way to entry. This along with her match program. This was shortly recovered, but it turned out that the ticket was swapped with a counter-part.
Clearly fake tickets were in circulation. We’re living in a digital age and with all the technology we should be able to eradicate this problem with ease. E.g. A confirmation email with a One Time Passcode Texted so this is proof it’s legitimately purchased – no counterfeit.
Uefa and the French Authorities were on schedule for months. They should have their ‘hotspots’ properly mapped with Police and Support Stewards or Community Support Officers; this to ensure there’s minimal trouble. The entering into the ground as well should allowed earlier to avoid delays with efficient stop-searches carried out.

30th May 2022 at 11:16 pm #196459personally think everyone is reading too much into it. As always it will be a reporter asking a very specific fishing question trying to elicit a sensational response to create a headline. The interviewee can either refuse to answer it or the the answer they do give will be deliberately twisted. Clickbait pure and simple

31st May 2022 at 8:52 pm #196461Absolute bollix about trying to blame the Liverpool fans for Saturday night. Spanish reporters all reporting the same story. People bashed for their tickets etc. piss ooor from the police yet again after the rangers game.
I wouldn’t play down liverpools achievements. 2 cups,63 games played. Lost on sat and full credit to Madrid. What a run they had.
Much more concerned with people nearly being crushed then losing. French minister clearly trying to save their own backs. This is not about Liverpool. It’s about safety of people etc.
Absolutely loved this season. Very proud of the team and people can play it down etc and people actually mocking us for not winning the quadruple ffs. We won our finals end of story and again playing dien wins cause we won on pens
The cl group was the supposed group of death. We beat the Italian champions, Spanish champions, Portuguese champions etc. could go on but people just want to belittle our season. It’s absolutely pathetic.
Literally read a few posts on here and reporting of the incidents on sat. Time to take a break from football. We go again next season. Proud to be a red and a brilliant season

1st June 2022 at 7:59 am #196462Loads of likes on your post Sean 😆. I really wouldn’t worry about what others think. Barring City fans, every set of fans would swap places with Liverpool’s fans. As you say, you did well to get through one of the CL tougher groups but after that you did get a very nice run of teams. Nothing you can do about that though. You still have to beat them. The constant quadruple talk in the media was always going to make anything less than 4 trophies seem like failure but once the dust has settled, this will be looked upon as a good season for Liverpool.
Very odd season in a way for Liverpool as they were close to all 4 but could have easily ended with nothing too, with the lottery aspect of penalties. The record books won’t care about that though. That doesn’t take anything away from the fact they won them both.
Still looking extremely unlikely that anyone will be strong enough to challenge City or Liverpool for a good few years. Chelsea, who are the closest, are miles off it.

1st June 2022 at 8:01 am #196463As for the crowd stuff, that’s usually the case with English fans abroad Sean. Their reputation goes before them and they often get blamed by the media and police without justification.

1st June 2022 at 2:36 pm #196464Sean. Good post.
UEFA can’t stand it that the EPL is the best league.
The whole thing is opitimised by the fact that after the Athletico game where they were diabolical cheats we got fined. You watch it now. All the blame will be on the Liverpool fans
