Rover…I have never put much credibility to “stats”. the only one that matters is the final score
Mistakes happen, fouls happen, injuries happen. Hindsight is an exact statistic_____________________________

29th May 2022 at 10:25 am #196425Can somebody explain the rule as to why Benzema’s goal was given offside. I may be wrong but wasn’t he played onside as the ball came off a Liverpool player or is that the old rule?

29th May 2022 at 11:19 am #196426Brian, I honestly had a bad feeling or didn’t feel it as much as other sets of supporters yesterday. That was me being super negative or just feeling a bit depressed. Perhaps it’s still feeling deflated from last weekend.
I think this team has been at gung-ho game after game after game, so somewhere down the line, this will take it’s toll.
Ancelotti is always hard to play against. He was the same at Everton.
This Madrid is different to me than 2018 and I was really happy with the respect they shown towards us after the full time whistle with a guard of honour. It was just touching. It wasn’t to be and essentially now it’s about dusting ourselves down and allowing time to allow us to heal.

29th May 2022 at 11:23 am #196427Rover, to be fair, it was a well taken goal. That is one of our weaknesses when opposing teams cross the ball, in a daisy-cutter style. We should have dealt with it.
Who was marking Vini Jr? I knew from the start he would pose danger. We were a tad naive. Either that or a moment of brilliance from Real. More to the point their keeper just had a night of his life, Courtouis. Nothing was going past him.

29th May 2022 at 11:25 am #196428Adlab, I think it’s because it can’t come off a Liverpool player unintentionally. This is one of the official laws, so it was then deemed as offside.

29th May 2022 at 12:13 pm #196429Well Parade for our 2 Cup Triumphs and something really more than anything for the Club and the Supporters to rejoice and feel proud.
Perspective ultimately being we’re blessed to have this against what the whole world had to endure over the last 2 years from 2020. Didn’t think personally, this day would arise sooner than later.

29th May 2022 at 4:51 pm #196432Nike…do not worry so much about it, game over now, look forward to a new season
We both have some re building to do to maintain the standards we have set, I can see a few leavers at City and probably the same at Liverpool.
I just wish we had got that 100th goal to end the season with but that’s what you get when you have no striker, just 99!!!!!!!!_____________________________

29th May 2022 at 6:03 pm #196433Brian, thanks 🙂 I’m a lot better. The last couple of hours has been awesome watching the Parade on TV. There’s been a lovely party vibe. Didn’t think we’d get this so soon after everything that happened in 2020. To both Man City and Liverpool for their Achievements and a Happy Summer of 2022 🙂 YNWA

29th May 2022 at 11:29 pm #196434It does make me wonder whether Liverpool’s easier route to the final was their downfall in the end. If we look at their season, they have failed to beat Chelsea in normal time on 4 occasions as well as City on two. I wonder whether the lack of testing in the league outside of those two as well as the easy road to the final didn’t prepare them enough?

29th May 2022 at 11:50 pm #196435I think there is something in that Foxy. I also fear some of the hype about this Liverpool team in the media inevitably went to some of the players heads. As Thierry Henry said of Salah – he should have left a lot of the talking (like talk of revenge) until after the game not before it. Personally I think his demeanour before the game looked like that of someone who had already won the trophy.

30th May 2022 at 12:33 am #196436to be fair, I actually thought Salah had a good game. Honestly, any other keeper in goal that night and he scores.

30th May 2022 at 1:16 am #196437Salah didn’t have a bad game, but big players have to deliver in big games, particularly if they talk things up.

30th May 2022 at 10:00 am #196438For me Salah’s never quite been the same player since Afcon (which somebody made a sound point about on the Radio yesterday) and the unsettled contract negotiations.
After that goal against Watford as well. I don’t mean to be too critical, but he’s also selfish and doesn’t always square the ball, plus, likes to always go on his left foot so opposing players already have had sussed his style of play.

30th May 2022 at 11:09 am #196439There was really no need to Teargas our supporters. What will UEFA do?

30th May 2022 at 11:23 am #196441All Liverpool guys on here. Although we are rivals on the pitch etc. I for one was hoping Liverpool could win last Saturday which was much to the surprise of she who must be obeyed. I simply said that I would hope they would win as a) it’s an English side and b) Madrid stole the semi final from us although it was our fault.
Then today we have unnecessary digs heavily reported in the press from Mrs Fabinho alluding that we are successful only because of our owner. This is of course partly true. But why is that so many comments coming out of the Liverpool camp and ex-players seem to me have an enormous chip on their shoulders. A great club and a great team should be above this. Guys on here are not like that. Yes we are all biased, me more than most, but we also understand that nothing is forever. Where were we when Shankly and Paisley etc were around? Nowhere. TAA is also one of those always sending messages that they will do this and do that. Look in the mirror son first of all!
Liverpool chaps on here why do you think this is. Add to this comments from the likes of Rush, Aldridge the Irish press etc. Liverpool and their supporters are far bigger than this. These comments are beginning to sound like sour grapes. We have rwo of the best sides in the world. Two domestic cups for Liverpool, just, the League for us, just. I don’t understand the backbiting or maybe it’s just another press non story._____________________________

“What happened, first of all, was this mass gathering of the British supporters of the Liverpool club, without tickets, or with fake tickets,” Ms Oudéa-Castéra told French radio RTL.But she said more people from the local area tried to force their way in through the doors of the Stade de France, where the match was held.
“A certain number of youths from the nearby area who were present tried to get in by mixing in with the crowd,” the minister said.
She also expressed regret that families and children were impacted by the use of tear gas.
The French minister said there were “no problems” regarding Real supporters and the Spanish side had controlled their travelling fans better than Liverpool.
Uefa initially blamed the “late arrival” of fans for the problems

30th May 2022 at 12:06 pm #196445Adlab @ 11:23, that’s because it’s childish and petty. Plus, it gets boring playing the same tune of ‘oil money’ etc. I know from our point of view it can be frustrating when trying to keep up which by god is not easy, all the other stuff is left to other platforms to be abhorrent. Certainly not for me in the slightest.
I don’t particularly for what it’s worth like too many ex-Liverpool players on both Sky and BT Sport. Keep away from the Echo mate, not worth the trouble.

30th May 2022 at 12:08 pm #196446True Adlab, that’s why Sean and I for example don’t get too ahead of ourselves and take it as it comes. We have experienced lots of disappointments which will happen by guarantee. Those individuals should be behaving like that on social media etc.

30th May 2022 at 12:13 pm #196447Adlab, I probably won’t be popular amongst my fellow fans, but I agree with some of what you say. I think it’s too lazy to talk about City’s money. City are outstanding in recent years quite simply because of Pep Guardiola. Up until Pep came into City, City were not getting 90+ points to win leagues and now they have 4 leagues in 5 years vs Liverpool’s one, as well as several league cups and an FA Cup. When Trent was asked back in February whether Liverpool should have won more trophies with their team, he reverted to saying that Liverpool had won the CL and City hadn’t, which I thought was a bit childish. As I said the other day, I think Liverpool have got better over the years at the back (and Konate & Matip are now outstanding defenders along with Van Dijk) but up top I think they have declined which is why I don’t think they have won more trophies than they should have. City are very good up top because I think they are very selfless in creating lots of opportunities. When Gary Neville mentioned the danger posed by Liverpool’s 5 strikers a few months ago, I must admit, I got caught up in that thinking which he thought made them favourites. But actually, they didn’t propel them to the league because I think at times they have been too selfish and also Firmino, a key part of the strike force, and a more selfless and clever player, has not featured as much this season, though I think that front 3 *unit* has declined over recent years. For me, Liverpool have to find more Firmino type players to make them better up top, which in turn will help the strikers.
