Fabinho, good to get your signings in early and it cheers up the Liverpool fans when they’re feeling a bit down too.

28th May 2018 at 9:30 pm #22371…that’s circa £100m with Keita and a top Keeper could cost firca £50m. I wonder what Liverpool can spend? They’ve still got half the Coutinho money left.

28th May 2018 at 9:42 pm #22373Be quite sad to see on another note Emre Can leaving us. Grew to be a strong competitor, liked to burst forward a lot too – wish him well.

29th May 2018 at 7:25 am #22374If he doesn’t want to be there then he can do one.
Just don’t fall for seeing good performances from him for Juve. His slow style of play will be well suited to Italy where he will have more time on the Ball. His pace is deceptive – he’s even slower than he looks. Good riddance._____________________________

29th May 2018 at 8:51 am #22378Fabinho already signed as Can’s replacement looks like good decisive management from Klopp.

29th May 2018 at 9:48 am #22386Only seen him a few times on the tv but looks good, and an upgrade on the brylcreem boy
With Keita also added the midfield looks good.
More cover for the front 3 is needed, another Centre back and definitely a keeper or two!_____________________________

29th May 2018 at 10:02 am #22392I know this is a typical self pity cliché` but we must be one of the most unluckiest teams on this planet. I reckon we used it all back in 2000-01 with those 5 pieces of Silverware in one season.
I checked Wiki to see just how many times in recent years we’ve had near misses. 3 under Klopp! Runners up in 2014. We could have added 8 trophies in the 12/13 years. That would have put us ahead of Man U.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Liverpool_F.C._seasons
It’s the big occasion where we’re letting ourselves down and not doing enough to get over the line.

29th May 2018 at 5:55 pm #22430Well what a fantastic weekend that was! Finally got home 4pm yesterday absolutely knackered, but it was worth it, regardless of the result. I was wary before I went of the reception we’d get from the locals, I was wary of the behaviour of a minority of Liverpool fans (having witnessed very poor behaviour in Athens in ’07, both towards each other, towards the locals and towards the opposition fans), and I was wary of what sort of city Kiev was going to turn out to be.
Firstly, I’ve got to say, Kiev is quite the ugliest dump of a place I have ever been to. Everybody lives in a high rise 1960’s style tenement block. we were on the 21st floor, and from our balcony, literally as far as the eye could see, there were just more of these apartment blocks. It looked like Salford, but much bigger. The river Dnipro runs through the city, so one would expect perhaps a nice waterfront with cafes and restaurants etc, but if there was one, we couldn’t find it. But having said all that, the people were very welcoming, very friendly, but maybe a little unprepared as to just how much beer the English drink. A number of the bars we went in to had run out of beer! If it had been Real v Juve say, they would have coped better, but I guess they just didn’t expect 30000 Liverpool fans to turn up at their party! But it was brilliant…the singing, the colour, the friendships made was just fantastic, and I just didn’t see one bit of trouble, either of a violent nature or even verbal abuse. It was all so good natured, even after the game. Mind you, I think the locals will be glad to reclaim their city after the 3 day party!!
The stadium was fabulous, even with a running track. The organisation from the security and the police was first class without being even slightly heavy-handed. There was a big police presence obviously, but they allowed people to have fun without getting involved. Perfect!
As for the football…well, next post, I think!

29th May 2018 at 6:32 pm #22431If Salah won’t kick a ball for 3 weeks as per the latest Sky report and the first Egypt game is on June 15th Salah will only be able to play if he’s fit enough in Egypt’s last two Group games.
Big call for Egypt as they have to offucialy submit their squad on June 4th. I suspect given how massive Salah is for Egypt they will include him in the squad and hope.

30th May 2018 at 8:50 pm #22446Good to get together with a few lads off Bank Holiday back into work which ultimately for me does do you good.
Often you get belittled and laughed at with a reply of “land and Sky to Pro level” which is true to an extent, but whatever level YOU have played, there’s always guidelines, natural ability and a setting to take into account.
No GK would do in essence what Karius did.
It’s unforgiving.
And on a personal level, this has been possibly the worst experience for me losing this final.

2nd June 2018 at 9:01 am #22485Great stuff Hightown. It’s taken me a week to get over it but here’s my thoughts
We started really well. Few half chances and good save from Navas. Game changed when Salah went off. This highlighted exactly why we needed a replacement for couthino. Lalanna has been tried and tested wide in the front 3 and it doesn’t work.
Madrid just took over then and they were excellent. The midfield just passed it around for fun. We just couldn’t really get into it after Salah injury. Lack of squad depth cost us but we lost to a better team.
Lovren, vvd, Robertson and mane did very well.
Huge pity we lost but a few years ago days like this were miles away.
We haven’t had successive cl qualification in 9 years. Every game you know we will try and attack. Fabhino and keita are two good signings. We need aggression.
I’d be delighted with Fekir and keeper but how much can we spend? Aleardy used more then couthino money. Centre back needed aswell
For years we have done nothing. Hodgson was terribke. Two finals with Kenny and a pl shot under Rodgers
I can see genuine progression under klopp. 3 finals and big nights back at Anfield. Those nights were long gone a few years back.
Love watching us play. Be very tough to get top 4 again. Be great win something but I’m realistic with city utd Chelsea etc all going to improve. It’s just good to be enjoying watching us play and delighted we have klopp
I think we will get better but do will others. Klopp is building a very good team. Just need to hold onto our best players going forward

2nd June 2018 at 1:31 pm #22491Just seen a pic of Fekir with a Liverpool shirt on and with him holding a Red shirt.
He actually looks as though he’s related to Salah, albeit the hair lol 🙂
Hope he joins us.
Light heartedness to one side, until we get straight back on that saddle, and ultimately win a trophy, this is something that will always be difficult to get over. I’ve had the opportunity to chew the fat at work and nobody at any level on centre stage would make that type of mistake if you are deemed as decent or top class quality.
It’s like saying or thinking Roger Federer double-faulting a serve in succession of 2 game points. Maybe against Karius, that’s not the comparison to use and alarm bells were there against Roma. I remember Hendo hairdrying him after the final whistle. Klopp always knew deep down he was faced with a double-edge sword as Mignolet was no different.
This has to be addressed this summer as priority and we’ll need to make a statement in the way we did with Van Dijk.
It seems, when it comes to Europe, we’ll go a long way with Jurgen. We need to just nail that first trophy even if it is the League Cup again.
As for Real Madrid, YES when it comes to the CL and the Big Stage, they have that nous, but they were BEATABLE I kid you not last week. and when it comes to their domestic league, they are capable of dropping points uncharacteristically to teams you’d least expect.
If we played Barca, we probably would have lost, and I wouldn’t have felt so aggrieved about the whole affair. Some pundits are just blatantly ignorant towards Liverpool and agenda driven – sod them.
Anyway, there is obviously no point dwelling on this for much longer as we’re into a fresh month and we can’t change what’s happened, but instead think positively, look forward, and hope for the best.

5th June 2018 at 11:29 am #22606Anonymousi read that yesterday and also saw a lot of hate directed at ramos over it. i understand that following the salah injury liverpool fans arent the biggest fans of ramos but he is completely innocent in this one. the person to blame is van dijk who shoved ramos in to karius. whilst this potentially justifies and explains the mistakes made, i still cant see a future for karius at liverpool. no one was surprised by the mistakes he made, even if they were the result of a concussion
