I’m pretty sure the way the world is and society that the BBC wouldn’t allow it, but really enjoyed many years ago when I was growing up In Sickness And In Health was was originally set as Till Death Do Us Apart.
All revolving a certain West Ham United Fan who sadly no longer is with us, but many of us I’m sure Remember Warren Mitchell π

2nd August 2020 at 9:23 pm #139949Yes π Even though I already have this on DVD, I still watched earlier this evening on one of the ITV Channels, The Man With The Golden Gun. Always loved the late Sir Roger Moore; charismatic, witty and charming.
Love my Bond Films, especially the classics with Sean Connery too.

4th August 2020 at 9:40 pm #141646First time, I’m about to come across a match with extra-time under Covid. I think Brentford have looked the more threatening team to be fair.

5th August 2020 at 10:42 pm #142672Find most TV disposable now (streaming corporations included). And the shear amount of it actually makes it even harder to find anything worth watching. Just find it all the same – it’s all high budget, well acted and very slick, but they’re either cliched lines/scripts, or they’re trying too hard to be different. Great if you’re an A-list actor but is the viewer really getting value for money? And the amount of recycling going on now is ridiculous be it superhero films or Star Wars rehashes. Probably one of my favourite films is Blade Runner, and why a sequel was made I don’t know, there was no where really else for the story to go. It deserved to flop. Just come up with something else that’s original. I increasingly find foreign films are where to go, or oldies or the stuff that is any good is put on some obscure channel or at a really late time on a standard channel, e.g. I caught the tail end of “The Looming Tower” on BBC some time ago, but there seemed to be very little advertising of it. Just ordered the mini series of 11.22.63 which is supposed to be good, but it was damned hard to find. The good stuff always seems to go under the radar…

6th August 2020 at 2:29 pm #143221The BBC tell us the licence fee is value for money, well it is for them….I watch little BBC now and would not bother me if it was not there at all therefore I do not see any value in the license fee. This is a thin of a wedge where more money will be sought from views, only pensioners to day. That is about there weight for picking a fight. If anybody can suggest any ways of dumping BBC and not pay the license fee I would be more than happy. Probably needs Govt. to do it but cannot see that happening

8th August 2020 at 8:53 pm #145344Same as the movie, but with a million little sub-plots (a bit GOT in that respect), but season three by all accounts it goes all Bladeruunery, as the “hosts” all escape into the real world (or so the trailers say, I’m about 3/4 through season 2!). Lots of flashbacks and things, you do need to pay attention sometimes!

22nd September 2020 at 9:14 pm #166577Totally fed up with TV now. We are being asked to watch repeat of repeats of repeats There are more depressing stories/dramas, kitchen sink plots now than ever. the nation needs good humour bring back in bucket fulls
Everytime I see Gary Lineker now and think of his salary and what he does for it I am in despair at the extravagance. match of the day at HT last week they could not even talk sensibly for the 15 minutes. It was about there past glories plus a BBC self promoting advert…so where is the actual work?_____________________________

22nd September 2020 at 9:48 pm #166578Brian, fully appreciate where you’re coming from. I do remember something about seeing Ian Wright of his younger day. It was weird as it felt as though the programme went on some tangent.
For the reason you’ve highlighted and others, I’ve been tired Lineker’s presenting for years. Find the format of the programme boring and find the football at times negatively over-analyzed by the same pundits.
You’re right. There’s a lot less humour. The problem also is that folk these days are easily offended. There’s so much creativity and imagination lost.
