Very entertaining game for the neutral 3-1 at ht on the back of some really poor defending by Liverpool. But the first half has flown by. You would think there are more goals to come in this game and letting the third goal in so close to ht after getting a foot in the game will have hit Liverpool hard.

22nd October 2017 at 5:47 pm #6512Good Spurs performance albeit significantly helped by some dreadful Liverpool defending and Goalkeeping which sets next Saturday’s game v United at OT very nicely.
We’ve been here so many times with Liverpool now and if I was a Liverpool fan I would be significantly worried that Klopp in over two years into the role Liverpool are as bad if not worse defensively than they were when he took over.
Liverpool need a quality Keeper plus at least one centre back probably two but I’m not sure just changing the personell will work Klopp seems to have a blind spot for the defensive side of the game and a defensive Coach might be needed too. Sammy Hypia perhaps?

22nd October 2017 at 6:07 pm #6515@srd79, good to see you here. We’re a bit short of Utd fans!
Not looking good this at all for Liverpool and puts them down to 9th. As for Spurs, this should do wonders for their confidence, particularly after all the fuss over how they’d fare at Wembley.
The last couple of weeks has shown Liverpool at their best and at their worst, with a smashing win in the CL to this poor defensive display today. A lot of work to be done still by Klopp but they just have to stick with him. Who would come in and do better?

22nd October 2017 at 6:29 pm #6516Ed, Never going to happen but I reckon big Sam would sort the problems out in that Liverpool defence in a matter of weeks.

22nd October 2017 at 7:16 pm #6520Actually just come back from a work presentation in which I received a bit of recognition for my efforts and was unaware of what went on from listening to the radio and leaving it after Salah pulled one back for us. So I’m not in the ‘mode’ of being downbeat and depressed.
I’ll take this opportunity to congrat my Tottenham pal Chucky on here and fellow Spurs fans.
All I can say is if we going to continue playing Moreno and a half-injured played, you’ve effectively surrendered, or are burying your head in the sand and ignoring the problem or playing with 9/10 men.
That can’t be afforded against a genuine quality outfit with a Top Class English striker and a team that has come close to winning the PL title at least once in recent seasons.
We are the master of our downfall and the buck stops with us. Whether or not the Manager is to blame for selection of players or whether that reaches right the way through to the owners. But it’s a crucial talking point because as it stands even with only 9 games played, Liverpool are more closer to being relegated than winning the title.

22nd October 2017 at 8:07 pm #6523nb, I wouldn’t worry to much about Liverpool getting relegated mate.
The reality is that if Liverpool can sort out their defensive woes they won’t be far away from being genuine title contenders albeit not this season.

22nd October 2017 at 8:42 pm #6527Thankyou Nine, very much appreciated.
At the moment, until even seeing the highlights, I can’t grasp hold of the overall picture.
What I do know is that we were exposed clearly from the left flank, and we paid a heavy price.
Surely, none of us are blind to recognise and acknowledge Moreno being a common denominator.
The problem lies with repetition time to time and mistakes simply not overturned once and for all for the better.

22nd October 2017 at 9:29 pm #6528Not Moreno’s fault today, mate. Watch the game and come back and tell me he was the reason we lost today. Lovren, Matip, Mignolet and the so-called midfield shield in front of them were inept and embarrassing today.
Moreno has by and large been our best performer out of the defence this season.

22nd October 2017 at 10:38 pm #6530Why on earth did Mignolet galavant for the first goal?
The second from him was typical surrender.

22nd October 2017 at 10:40 pm #6531Sometimes you just come up against s team that play better than you.
Spurs got off to a flyer and did to us what weβve done to the likes of spurs and city and arsenal in recent years – hit them hard and fast and put daylight between you as quickly as possible. We know we need defenders and a keeper – im sure Klopp knows it too but needs FSG to agreee to pay top money for them, which they donβt like to do for a non-flair player.
Too 4 will be a tough challenge for us, and the January transfer window is critical.

22nd October 2017 at 10:52 pm #6534I thought spuds may win this but by a goal not 3!! Liverpool with Mane in look great going forward but once the opposition turn them they seem to be in real trouble. Looks like a Kevin keegan side lol. Defo back 5 overhaul required ASAP.
Gotta ask, wonder that coutinho thinks of this? Will he go or stay in Jan pool fans? Do you need the dollar to invest in your defence? Letβs be honest though, 2 wins on the bounce then mostly forgotten.

22nd October 2017 at 11:21 pm #6536The frustration lies ultimately by certain individual players:
Moreno will always be problematic because of his nature. He simply just doesn’t want to take any responsibility defending. Fairenough. I’d love him to strive all day tooth and nail to go forward, but essentially, we’re left with a deficiency.
Moreno leaves gaps on the line itself of the pitch and then the playing surface just outside the 6 yard area. Opposition teams one way or another will suss this and exploit this. They won’t remotely care about Moreno as long as they find a pathway, that leads to Goalmouth. Tottenham deservedly exploited that and credit to them.
Out fault. It kills me to say, but this is the harsh reality.
Essentially, you need a quality of individuals to occupy ALL defensive positions. Otherwise, in this league, any opposition whether it’s Tottenham Hotspur or Watford, will EAT you ALIVE.
I personally got sucked right in from Tuesday Night. What a fool I am, outright.
What is the point in the purchase of Andy Robertson? And if there was that much doubt, then reinstall James Milner.
Little Phillipe will play his heart for us all day long as long as he remains an LFC player. Ultimately however, it’s Snakes and Ladders and as far as we’re concerned, 1
Ladder up and 3 Snakes down. My fear at this moment in time is the Manager wrongly being the fall of the axe. That really cannot be._____________________________

23rd October 2017 at 9:32 am #6541AnonymousNil – again you are vilifying Moreno but he wasnt to blame at all yesterday. apart from Salah he was the only player that actually looked like they cared and put in a decent performance. from what i’ve seen he has had a decent season.

23rd October 2017 at 9:40 am #6542Nobody in a red shirt covered themselves with glory yesterday, but Moreno wasn’t the stinkiest by a long, long way. I would/should think Teflon needs to be considering a change form this 4-3-3 he seems to get all the fizz in his beans from, as yesterday proved yet again, he doesn’t have the defensive players for it.. he has to be thinking 4-4-2 or even 5-3-2 surely?

23rd October 2017 at 10:53 am #6544As a fan of another team, Liverpool need to learn something from this game and not repeat it even it it means sacrificing some attacking capability, then confidence will come back. I am sure Klopp is aware of what is wrong but maybe he also needs to re think his tactical game
