4th April 2021 at 8:31 pm #177103Nine, I’m almost there in agreement in principle mate, however, the pressure’s applied more on the Teams currently occupying those places.
The current last place 4th will feel the teams beneath them breathing down their necks more as opposed to Leicester and Man U. Although, they themselves need to be mindful in not getting complacent.
You’re right mate from a Business and Club Objective, but please bear in mind the season we’ve had or the second half of it that saw us being ripped to pieces.
Those pieces we’re only just picking up and trying to rebuild. Whilst winning 2 games in succession has been good, realistically, these are small steps and we can’t get overboard and build our hopes up too high.
We may slightly be in the running, but Chelsea and perhaps other teams are maybe better suited.
Cheers

4th April 2021 at 8:50 pm #177107Nil, Sorry bud but I can’t agree with any of that.
Liverpool are the current Champions and entered the season with the objective of winning back to back titles anything less than finishing in the top 4 would be a total failure without Liverpool were fortunate enough to win the CL the same applies to Chelsea too.
All the Club’s fighting for a top 4 place are under pressure but Liverpool and Chelsea are probably under the most pressure because more was expected from the both of them.

4th April 2021 at 9:33 pm #177108Nine, All Good Mate. I totally get where you’re coming from.
You’re right once again in principle against Club and Business Objectives.
For us mate in reality, the message that’s come about is that there needs to be players sold before bought. Pandemic implications and reality hitting home.
At the Top End mate as you well and truly know, they just care about Profit. It’s the same in my Workplace at the mo with the new Financial year and it’s belt-tightening days.
What I’m saying from a fans Point Of View is factually, we’re not even in 4th Position. We’re 6th placed and Everton have games in hand over us plus West Ham.
We’re been stripped of our Dignity (from the feeling of emotion) and the way Results have panned out as well as injuries. From everything told upon us, such as “every team has injuries”, we’ve suffered record defeats at Anfield and now we’re accepted and adjusted. We’re trying to just find out way and reform. Our own matters lie a little deep.
Fanatically, we can’t raise hope and celebrate on this forum like madness. Though we can live the moment, we have to perhaps understand the prospect of going this season as failures.
In Pep’s words mate, maybe not a bad thing and starting from scratch 🙂

4th April 2021 at 10:15 pm #177112Nil, we both could do with a losing run from Leicester.😊

5th April 2021 at 2:18 pm #177120Hate to see any players injured but allegedly Declan Rice being out for a month could be beneficial to all the Club’s chasing a top 4 spot.

6th April 2021 at 9:00 am #177131West Ham just aren’t going away are they? Going to be very interesting now to watch the race for the final top 4 places. Lingard has been an inspired signing by Moyes and West Ham. Even Utd aren’t quite safe yet albeit it would be one hell of a collapse to fall away now. As long as Utd avoid defeat at Spurs on Sunday, I’d say we’re fine.
As for who’s under most pressure to get a top 4 spot, both Chelsea and Liverpool should be getting top 4 with their squads. Either missing out this season will be deemed a huge shock. I still fancy both to do it with Leicester having some really tough games remaining.

6th April 2021 at 10:59 am #177132The more older generation of football fans that have been around putting aside their own team, I’d like to think they wouldn’t want just one team scooping up all the trophies season in season out. It’s just really disheartening for everyone else.
This unique season in particular has shaped differently to what we’re used to seeing where teams have been more evenly matched.
I’m glad for West Ham. I really hope they keep going. Big Revenue, but if they did secure even a Europa league spot, I’m sure their Supporters would be relishing the experience.

6th April 2021 at 11:36 am #177134Ed, I keep telling myself that eventually West Ham will blow up especially if we get to the final 2/3 games on the Season when the pressure is really on in the race to finish in the top 4 but I thought that about Leicester City a couple of years ago and look what happened there.😊
Be interesting to see how they go without Declan Rice for circa 4 weeks.
But they Leicester, Everton and Spurs have the benefit of no European games which none of the other contending Clubs want but is a major advantage in the PL particularly at this stage of the season.

6th April 2021 at 12:24 pm #177137Nine, we should start a petition to get hammers fans back in stadium for games, that would put a stop to their form 🙂

6th April 2021 at 12:45 pm #177138Just noticed West Ham play Leicester next. That’s a hard one to call. If West Ham win that, too, it will really open things up. But yeah Rice will be a big miss for them

7th April 2021 at 7:30 pm #177193AnonymousIt’s a disgrace the way one team always is assured of getting a penalty whilst the team they oppose is always assured of not getting a clear cut penalty. Nothing more to say.

9th April 2021 at 1:55 pm #177226“Michael Antonio has been ruled out of West Ham’s crucial game against Leicester City on Sunday, with the Hammers fearing that the forward could miss a significant amount of their Premier League run-in.” 9/04
First Rice he Antonio both could impact on West Ham’s run in?

9th April 2021 at 2:46 pm #177228Interesting numbers Mikus. What a turnaround for West Ham so it’d be really tough on them if Nine’s post is accurate and Antonio does miss a lot of their remaining games. Moyes has to be nailed on for Manager of the Year if he somehow gets top 4.
I still think another Leicester collapse is coming.

9th April 2021 at 3:24 pm #177230Ed, “David Moyes has confirmed that Michail Antonio sustained a hamstring injury against Wolves.” From what I’ve read it sounds like 4 to 6 weeks massive miss for West Ham.
