Mikus, unsurprisingly Tuchel rarely makes any Liverpool fan’s list of next manager choice. I’d be very surprised if you wanted him at your club so I’m not sure why we should either π. He’s going to become known as the man who lost the league in a one team league. They’ve won the league like 11 years in a row so he gets given arguably the best striker of a generation and is faltering. No thanks!
Instead all you Utd fans seem to want to keep throwing in completely unproven managers into one of the biggest jobs in football and play this long term developing youngsters pipe dream game. If you want to keep doing that and stay in the doldrums thatβs fine by me π
That’s just not accurate. We’ve tried “proven” managers in Mourinho, Van Gaal and the like. You make it sound like we keep plucking unknowns out of European football and throwing them in telling them to develop the kids. I don’t think any Utd fan is interested in a “developing youngsters pipe dream”. Utd fans, like all fans, want a manager who can play good football and win games. Tuchel ticks none of those boxes at present and should be nowhere near the list of potential replacements imo.

4th March 2024 at 1:30 pm #213008And yet Mourinho is the closest manager you had over the last decade to getting back to the top. He rightly points to his second place that year being one of his best achievements. And let’s not forget the European trophy he won you. And Van Gaal at least won you the FA Cup too. Not really much of note since then.
As for Tuchel himself, I get the concerns of the reported fallouts he’s had with people. But even if you only got a couple of years out of him and then found someone more suited so be it. I think he’d probably work better at a club with bigger resources so he might not be the best fit for Liverpool for me.

4th March 2024 at 1:56 pm #213009I agree with ed, i wouldnt want tuchel. Maybe 2 years ago as i thought his cheldea team was excellent. Hes done a terrible job at munich and his stock has fallen.
There is absolutely no one out there good enough to take over liverpool or utd
Dont want de zebri, absolutely no way. Very very sceptical on alonso as lacks massive experience but he is my choice because of his connection to the club and city and he has a real football brain. Absolutely no doubt he is performing miracles currently but its 18 months.
Alonso and then tey get edwards back
Absolutely no idea who comes in for utd but potter been mentioned along with ashworth but thats the media

4th March 2024 at 1:58 pm #213010As always, you make very good and fair arguments Mikus. I just can’t get behind Tuchel I’m afraid.
Whilst your points about Mourinho and Van Gaal are valid, I also think they reinforce the problem. Both came in for a couple of years, did a decent job and then started to really go downhill. Then it was back to the drawing board, rip up the plan and start again. We need to stop looking for these 2yr recovery plans and build something longer term. That doesn’t mean a long term manager. Just a long term plan where the head coach is identified to fit with that plan but is also expendable because the plan is more than just the manager at that particular time.

4th March 2024 at 8:41 pm #213019I would give Nagelsmann a chance from what the options are.
Think the number of managers who you could trust to do a rebuild and get the club back to the top is limited and taken by rivals or top clubs.
Going by the reports today about players not believing Ten Hag will be at the club next season and how tough is he on them, Tuchel is no a go. Especially with the same being said about Bayern players opinion on Tuchel.

Nobody would ever accuse you of being a closet Liverpool fan anyway πSean, I’m not as skeptical as you regards Alonso but ya, I’m not full of confidence that anyone can take over from Klopp and do well.
Edwards has turned us down several times but FSG are making one final approach for him now and then they are washing their hands of it.
I’m not terribly enthusiastic about their lack of movement there because they aren’t talking to managers until they get the SD locked in. They want him to choose and look, that’s fine but the one good man for our job is about to get snapped up by Bayern.Tuchel? I’d probably take a sabbatical as a supporter.

4th March 2024 at 10:29 pm #213023Arsenal tonight are frightening; I am trying to think of a fairytale theory like Fergie in Klopp ending his reign with 20 Titles. It then goes downhill supposedly, but I am not so sure.
Regardless of numerous Managerial changes over the last decade, the one thing less that has blossomed is the youth and Fergie was commendable at that. Klopp has done exactly the same.
You can’t just buy your way short-term plans won’t go a long way.

6th March 2024 at 5:17 pm #213028It’s so unjust feeling that Klopp will most likely leave here with only 1 PL trophy. That just feels so wrong.
Next year when City are stripped of their titles, we’ll be given them in a manner that we cant celebrate them at all. They will be tainted. Im not saying I don’t want them to correct things but it’s not exactly going to be a proper title win now is it.Desperate for us to get over the line one more time but I think we’ve got too many injuries to manage it.
I’m not giving up but ya…_____________________________

30th March 2024 at 10:12 pm #213429Outplayed again. Think I can count on 1 hand how many times we outplayed teams this season.
Rashford can fuck off. Gets his lucrative salary after 1 spectacular season and drops his performances.
Time for Ten Hag to piss off too.

30th March 2024 at 10:15 pm #213430CM, do you think a different manager would have done better this year?
No LB all season, no back up striker. Rashford downing tools. Injuries all over the place. No CB pairing.
We need five players? Maybe more? Surely that looks like the players are shit.

30th March 2024 at 10:34 pm #213437I understand injuries has not helped. But United should be out playing sides like Luton, Forest, Brentford, Bournemouth.
Brentford didn’t have their 1st choice back 4 today. Yet they battered United.
The players have clearly stopped playing for him and I hope INEOS looks in to the players who decide when they want to turn up and get rid of them.

30th March 2024 at 10:48 pm #213438We absolutely should be outplaying those teams, but that starts by trying. We have not tried all season. Rashford walked around all match today, I just cannot see how that is ETHβs fault. He cannot be asking him to do it.
Iβm not sure anyone else would get this shambles to try to win. And not sure I want them too, just get rid of the players as they donβt deserve to be at the club.

31st March 2024 at 12:13 am #213440I don’t think Ten Hag has done enough to manage the difficult situation the club has been in regarding injuries or out of form players.
It is the constant same mistakes. The same side who started against Liverpool, started today, why? Did he not witness that it only took Liverpool 2-3 simple passes to cut though United. It was his changes which helped United, not the starting line up.
The same has happened continuously where teams can play simples passes to get to our box and a quality manager would address it tactically. Ten Hag hasn’t. I will admit this not only is happening under Ten Hag, it also happened under Ole too. So why is he relying on the same players who do not track back and cover ground quickly enough.

31st March 2024 at 12:22 pm #213452I’m not making any reference to comments here, but should they damage Liverpool next Sunday, fans will ring up and say “stick with him” “give him a reset for next season” etc etc and we’re essentially back to square one until the progression takes a dive, the football’s boring and fans are left to feel frustration once again.

31st March 2024 at 2:13 pm #213461Nil, for me the players are a disgrace.
ETH has sorted lots of things, signings have been hit and miss, but the players havenβt tried and that is unforgivable.
Replace the players and bring in some who care and then judge him.
He had too much deadwood at the club to be judged this soon.

31st March 2024 at 7:14 pm #213501When Pep and Klopp came in, you saw the system and style of football they wanted.
They didn’t have the right players in place to succeed at 1st.
What is ETH trying to do? What system or style of football is he trying to get the players to play? There is nothing. There’s no progress or vision in place. We should not be playing counter attacking football against bottom 6 sides, yet that is what I have been watching. It is embarrassing considering what he has spent.
The players are not except from blame and most need to be sold. It is a lost cause from the manager to the players.

31st March 2024 at 7:40 pm #213502You look at some of the players at city, liverpool and aresnal now. Kdb, bernardo silva, odengard. Curtis jones, saka, nunez, marinelli etc. they were never hard workers until the managers instilled them to work really hard for the team.
If your not working hard etc then you dont play. That should be a non- negotiable
Eth is a strict manager. Hes handlrd some tough situations well but rashford is a huge challenge

31st March 2024 at 9:24 pm #213503CM – ETH has said βWe want to be the best transition team in the world. We want to surprise. We want to play dynamic, we want to play with speed, we want to play aggressive, out of a very good team spirit, because that is United?”
You can see the high press and the speed at times. The players donβt play the same twice in a row. Is that ETH changing tactics or players not wanting to do it.
