Happy days, just received an “open” invitation to a “box” at the new Spud stadium….
“just let me know in advance, mate, and I’ll sort out a couple of tickets for you…”
And I thought all my bosses were cock-wombles from Malmo!! 🙂

10th April 2018 at 4:07 pm #19927Mav, I was staying at Caesars in Las Vegas and sitting up at the bar in one of the Hotel bars in the late 80’s and got chatting to this lady on the next bar stool and it was Ruth from the Pointer Sisters who were appearing at Caesars.?

11th April 2018 at 10:43 am #20065According to the reports today. Chelsea have approached Nice about the potential signing of one of their star players by the name Jean Michael Seri. who has been linked with Barcelona, United and City in the past. i haven’t seen this guy play. but judging by the number of clubs that wants him. he must be the next big thing. and could be an ideal partner to Kante. but again Bakayoko was a world beater at Monaco. so i will still treat him with caution.

16th April 2018 at 8:00 am #20408All I want to see is one tantalising season where all 20 managers have same budget, wage cap and fees to spend.
No window after Aug, you get 23 pros (+ unlimited academy).
We'll see who's the best then.
Until then, it's a distorted as the graphic below! Ludicrous! pic.twitter.com/RA570dseXz

16th April 2018 at 9:56 am #20409We’ve mentioned it before on here, the new and dare I say improved FFP rules seem to indicate no club can spend more than 100m than what they receive with regards to transfers (slightly easier to monitor I would think, although envelopes under the table will still ikely to happen).
The only issue “admemdment” I hope is in there, is ALL AGENTS fees are also included in this 100m amount too… that should piss them off…. hate agents…

16th April 2018 at 10:03 am #20410AnonymousHonestly, I prefer the flawed system we have now over the homogenized setup that Collymore is proposing. That and the American ways of handling sport are (to me) anti-competitive (in a sporting sense).
Success in the game, especially sustained success, will lead to more income. In a system where everyone gets to work with the same, there is no knock on reward for previous success. Sure there are sugar daddies but that is a part of it. there is good and bad in any system.
From what I know of the NHL, they have a league setup so strength is essentially rotated. Lower finishing teams getting first round drafts etc. That’s this kind of nonsense gone a bit too far.
I would be all for a better version of FFP that trims off the sugar daddy stuff in a more effective manner but without hamstringing ambitious clubs whos owners want to invest in the squad. Maybe you could do something based on attendance numbers? Higher attendance gets to spend a higher percentage, or so. Just a thought off the top of my head.

16th April 2018 at 10:54 am #20413I do get where Stan comes from and something does need regulating sooner rather than later otherwise the bubble will burst.
By no means this is sour grapes, but there’s far too much money in the game and it’s certainly not going in the direction of the fan, in fact, he’s likely to be out of pocket.
If the conditions are set where all clubs must adhere to the same transfer budget and wages, then allow anything saved to roll over to the next season.
The table’s have proved in relation to Burnley that they’ve spent less, yet are more closer to Arsenal than Arsenal are closer to City.
It’s about striking a balance.

16th April 2018 at 11:06 am #20414Anyway, the “Draft” system employed by the US is fundamentally flawed as both the draft picks and the players chosen are basically assets that get swapped traded (transferred!). A perfect example would be the Patriots, arguably the strongest “squad” in the NFL have 3 first round picks this year…

16th April 2018 at 11:18 am #20416Was going to make the point of scrapping the Jan window and reign in the summer up until the 1st of August.

16th April 2018 at 11:23 am #20417You still can mate…. 🙂
I’m also seeing reports the “Big-Dogs” want to re-visit the cash distribution thing again this year, and surprsingly West Ham, Everton and Liecester are also backing it (according to reports). Thats 11/9 and a 14/6 needed for the change.
I bloody well hope that doesn’t happen…

16th April 2018 at 1:58 pm #20419The 2018 Summer transfer Window is to open on or around May 17th and will run until August 9th this is because FIFA require the window to be open for 12 weeks and the club’s have voted to close the window before the season commences. Clubs will still be able to sell players up to August 31st but not sign them after the future of date likely to be August 9th.
The debate and vote over the distribution of TV monies is in respect of the overseas TV monies and driven by all the top 6 clubs I still can’t see it going through as it’s unlikely to get the necessary 14 votes required to change it.
