How do they come up with this stuff?! Who buys a player and agrees to a release clause which is significantly less than what you bought him for? ?

24th February 2018 at 8:40 am #16432I just don’t get all this. There is absolutely no chance pogba wont start tomorrow.
i see utd fans calling for Jose’s head etc, it’s just bollox.
very good point ed. Utd are 2nd in the league, in the cl etc. it’s far from a bad seasin
the focus is on the football because it’s played great football for years

24th February 2018 at 9:23 am #16434The thing is, playing along with Maureen’s absurd mind-games (that might just work against a Gerbil!), if Emoji-man starts tomorrow then it is blindingly obvious to all that Emoji-man is untouchable/undroppable when it actually comes down to something that matters. Maureen is quite happy to flex his muscles and “show-off” when it’s games that YooUtd are expected to win or games when there is a 2nd bite of the cherry available (as per CL.. and I bet Emoji-man starts 2nd leg!).
If Maureen actually wants to show Emoji-man who’s boss, then he drops him for tomorrow’s game… play him and he’s given up all chances of making a genuine statement and simply exacerbates the ongoing “situation”.

24th February 2018 at 9:51 am #16435I’m not sure I agree with that Chucky. The title has already gone so I’d argue dropping him in an away game in a knockout tie which could potentially give us a massive uphill task in the second leg is a much bigger statement than dropping him tomorrow. Besides, he’s made a statement now regardless of what happens tomorrow. I don’t think there’s any doubt whatsoever at Utd about who is in charge. If he’s back in the team tomorrow, it’s because Jose feels he’s made his point and is willing to give him another chance

24th February 2018 at 9:52 am #16436AnonymousWhat about this idea. A lot of time is wasted with the ref running over to the side lines to look at some video but what if he carried a light notebook strapped to his back or chest? Something that he could take out and review something streamed to him, much faster.
It’s that or they need to have a video panel of 3, or single video ref who will rewatch an incident as the match plays on, pulling things back if something is spotted.
Im all for trying to stop the game as little as possible but the reffing situation is just not good enough, so whether we like it or not, VAR is needed. . . we just have to come up with a system that helps a lot more than it disrupts and we’re good.

24th February 2018 at 9:53 am #16437As I suggested in my original post the alleged 60m Euro Juve buy back clause looks most unlikely but given the current situation only a brave man would bet on Pogba being at United next season but these problems can disappear as quickly as they have appeared.
Of course Mourinho will select Pogba on Sunday he’s lost players to injury in midfield and once Pogba hits a bit of form all of this will be yesterdays fish and chip paper.
The United fans frustrations with Mourinho are seemingly three fold they want to see attacking football because it’s been part of the clubs dna they expected a genuine title challenge if not a title within the first two season’s and City under Pep have stolen United’s clothes although in fairness Pep inherited a much better squad than Mourinho did to be able to play the way they are.

24th February 2018 at 9:54 am #16438I’m actually quite surprised that Poch hasn’t done something similar with Alli in any of the big games this season with how poor he’s been at times. I guess all players react differently to different methods and it’s a tactic Sir Alex mastered. He was never afraid either of dropping a big name

24th February 2018 at 10:32 am #16440Steady Eddy… reckon the difference between Emoji-man and Tom Daly Jnr is Tom Daly Jnr is (or was) just in very bad form, slightly different from Emoji-mans apparent strop about being played out of position, slightly different scenarios in my humble opinion. And on a side note, please note how both Vicky and Toby haven’t waltzed straight back in the team after their long-term injuries (again, very different scenarios but an example of Poncho not playing on names).
Anyway, we’ll find out soon enough, but I’ll be sticking with my opinion the feeling will be “ego’s on max overload” in the Emoji-man camp if he plays tomorrow.
Not going to bother wasting my thoughts on the “buy-back” issue… 🙂

24th February 2018 at 10:45 am #16441The fact you made apparent in bold means we at least agree that it’s only worth noting the difference if we believe the paper talk about the strop. I think most take the paper stories with a pinch of salt these days so it’s hard to draw any conclusions on that point. I suppose at least if Tom Daly is playing badly, he always gives you a chance of winning a penalty! When Pogba plays poorly, and put of position, he offers little to the team.
I do hope that he starts playing him a bit further forward again though, otherwise, I feel we’ll only see the best of Pogba when he moves to another club. There’s an enormously talented player in there somewhere who we’ve only seen in patches so far

24th February 2018 at 11:05 am #16444I think, to put it simply, Emoji-man has to have the team built around him, he has to be the main man, the central point, the focus… and unfortunately in a team that also has certain other egotistical players, there’s always going to be an issue or two. In a team with Sanchez, Martail, Lulkkcoockoo, and even the Malmo Mongrol, a little “strop” is always going to be right around the corner (from any of them!).

24th February 2018 at 11:28 am #16447It looks like one of Pogba or Jose, but if they keep behaving like pricks, then both can piss off to Malmo or the sunny Finland and keep Banjo company, lol.

24th February 2018 at 11:32 am #16448Ed-The thing is,United are the RICHEST football club in the world and can afford any player,so if Pogba wants to leave for the brothel club[Real Madrid],demand £200m,and go on to buy the likes of SMS/Pjanic/Serri/Weigl! Why keep an unhappy player!

24th February 2018 at 1:15 pm #16455An in form Pogba played in the right position is a major asset to United and Mourinho is no fool he knows that which is why sooner rather than later I suspect all this will be sorted out.
Perhaps Pogba listening to Garry Neville’s good advice might hasten that.
“It’s a tough one for Pogba to take because he’s been left out of a big match, but I was at United for 20 years and saw players left out of matches sometimes – players who were probably better than Paul Pogba,” Neville told Goal.
“He shouldn’t take it as an offence, he should knuckle down as all great players and great characters do when they get dropped, to fight harder and make their way into the team.
Having said that I hope Pogba continues to have the hump tomorrow and has a stinker but I have a nasty feeling he may not.

24th February 2018 at 2:01 pm #16459Mav, totally agree with that mate United will still be United long after Mourinho and Pogba have gone. Same applies to any club in such circumstances.
Players, Managers and even owners are transient the one constant is the fans.

24th February 2018 at 2:11 pm #16462Too right mate,@ any club no player is bigger than the team,be it Barca and Messi,CR7 @ Real,or any other team.If the Emoji-man wants to head to Madrid-good luck to him,as for Jose,we know he will not be here for much longer, this is the time he starts to engineer his usual sacking!
