27th September 2019 at 12:44 pm #48606worse than that Pagan, reading the article they were offered free cars from the club but turned them down (likely because they wanted ot stay out and get on it withot the club knowing how late) the rest of the squad used the free cars and left around 8pom like professionals!
and to top it off one of them was part of the drink aware thing for the club!!
looks a nasty crash too
no accounting for fools

27th September 2019 at 1:30 pm #48609Just taking the Mourinho scenario at Chelsea as an example Chelsea’s match going fans not only remained loyal to Mourinho in his first tenure but right up to the end of his second tenure too.
“An emotional JosΓ© Mourinho praised the vociferous show of support offered by Chelseaβs fans on Wednesday night, claiming βthis is my momentβ as his team overcame Dynamo Kyiv 2-1 to record a second win in nine matches and offer the ailing Premier League champions much-needed respite.
Willian curled in a glorious winning goal, the fifth free-kick from which he has registered this season, seven minutes from time to lance the tension and lift the home side above the visitors and into second place in Group G. Mourinho drew huge encouragement from his playersβ reaction to being pegged back and was visibly emotional as his name was chanted regularly and ferociously by the majority inside Stamford Bridge.
βTo have the whole stadium supporting me in a difficult time is an unforgettable moment in my career,β he said.
βWhen I came back to the club and we played the first match at home against Hull City, the way the stadium welcomed me was amazing. But not comparable to today. Today came in a moment where the results have not been good. It comes in a moment where people are asking for my βendβ. The fans read newspapers. They watch television. They listen to pundits, commentators, opinions, read blogs, and this was quite unbelievable what they tried to say today.
βThey tried to say: βWe want you here.β And, probably, they want to say: βAll of you, let him work. We want him. Let him work.β It was fantastic. The players showed they wanted to win. Today they did. Last week, no, but they showed again they wanted to win. And the fans showed their passion for the club. Fundamentally, thatβs what they showed. Passion for the club. And then to support the clubβs manager, thatβs a way to show respect and passion for the club. Amazing, really.
βWith Chelsea, I think this is my moment. It was amazing. The club should be proud of their fans. I can only thank them by giving everything I have, to thank them for this reaction. To win after conceding a goal with 15 minutes to go, itβs important β¦ itβs something I spoke about with the players. βWhen the difficult moment arrives,β I said to them, βface the difficult moment. Donβt collapse. Keep the belief.β
βThe fans recognise Iβm a good pro and have brought them great memories. Until my last day in this club, if that is in four yearsβ time, 10 years or 15 years, I will give everything to them.β
Mourinho, watched here by his family from just behind the dugout, has seen his side collapse in situations similar to the one provoked by Aleksandar Dragovicβs late equaliser. But where Chelsea had wilted against Southampton and Liverpool, they rallied here against Dynamo.
βI was impressed when I saw Liverpool at Anfield, when we beat them 4-1 [in October 2005] and, in the last 10 minutes, Anfield was singing for that team,β added Mourinho. βIn good moments you see the streets full of people celebrating in a buzz, and itβs easy for kids to go to school in a Chelsea shirt when Chelsea win every match. But itβs not easy for 10- or 12-year-old kids to go to school with a Chelsea shirt when Chelsea are losing matches, when probably they are bullied by other kids whose teams are winning.
βThe win is a big relief. To qualify, we didnβt need a win. So, at 1-1, it was not a drama. But, from a mental point of view, it was important to provide a reaction to a negative moment. In other matches weβve played well, but when a negative moment arrived the team felt it too much, and it was difficult to emerge again in the game, to have control in the game. The team was strong mentally and kept trying, and Iβm happy with that.” The Guardian November 5th 2015.

27th September 2019 at 2:49 pm #48614“Renowned accident black spot”
Was on the a6 in allestree. I used to live in allestree. Doesn’t really add anything to the conversation but thought I’d mention it!
Theres footage showing them hammered before the crash. Not good. How difficult is it to show restraint or if you cant just get a bloody taxi?

27th September 2019 at 3:17 pm #48616Thanks for kind words Nine/Steve…at the end of the day I am just a football fan like thousands of others. My memory is fading now but will always remember the first game. many changes to the game, many players watched and teams I have enjoyed watching. The Forum brings up many issues for debate which is all good because somebody is thinking of the game, I just hope it keeps its sanity and respects views, at the same time does not inflame comments…we are not here for that. I must admit I really enjoy some of the comments because they bring up points I had not thought of

27th September 2019 at 4:58 pm #48617AnonymousThere’s definitely grounds to release these lads from their contracts. Being drunk and then racing? Having been offered cars home.. This is so much worse than just trying to slip home from the pub (which is obviously not great as is).
As for LFC trying to trademark “Liverpool”, what a ridiculous attempt.
Also Brian cheers for the kind words. I also appreciate your own posts, except when we’re talking up our rivalry :P… although it can definitely be entertaining there too π

27th September 2019 at 5:07 pm #48620Mak, that only works if they canβt just go and sign for another club without having to personally reimburse Derby for their current market value. The Bosman ruling stops the club holding onto the players registration which sort of plays into the players hands though, however the Mutu episode at Chelsea could have some relevance….Pagan

28th September 2019 at 8:13 pm #48737AnonymousProper pleased with the clean sheet. Has Lampard discovered his new centre back pairing? There were a couple of moments where a better quality player might have made us pay, but finally, the clubs first clean sheet. Looked as though we applied a better press up the pitch too and as you pool and city fans will attest, it helps the defence.
CHO, imo needs to prove himself and his commitment now, but he changed things coming on. A positive step.

29th September 2019 at 11:51 am #48779Yeah I was pleased with clean sheet too 442 and I agree with the importance the front press defensively.
I think Mount presses like there is no tomorrow and having him in the centre for a change with Willian and Pedro wide (who lets be honest both work extremely hard off the ball) and Tammy pressing from the front, we were extremely tough to play through. Props to Jorginho too who imo was man of the match.
Delighted with Christensens performance in a back 4, but Tomori is something else, when Rudiger is fit he and Tomori look a fantastic pairing I would expect our defence to improve a lot once we get the fortune of being able to select the same centre back pairing for a good run of games. Its a bit too chop and change due to the circumstances for any real consistency in defence to be developed so far.

29th September 2019 at 12:17 pm #48781Lucky, Jorginho is a very good player mate. Heβs toughened up over the last 15 months. He gets stuck in. Him and Kante be perfect in a 4-2-3-1 system. Heβs a leader
Mount at number 10 and the two lads you mentioned in the 3 is perfect.
I was delighted with Liverpool clean sheet aswell. Vvd, fabhino and Matip were our best players.
Salah needs to start turning up away from home.

29th September 2019 at 12:41 pm #48783Sean, I agree re Jorginho mate, I was very critical of him at times last year and would not have protested in the slightest had we sold him in the summer as I thought he was handicapping us having to play a system to accommodate him, I am delighted he has proven me to be completely wrong.
I even went back to look at his performances last year in terms of statistics and to be fair he was much better than I gave him credit for and I think its only because he is the last line of defence and was so often left alone in key moments that I thought he wasn’t up to the job. Easier to criticise Jorginho in those situations than the players ahead of him who allowed the opposition to cut through them so easily and get to the back line I suppose.
Lots of headaches for Lamps to come in terms of selections and systems though mate, the competition in the squad is heating up every week as players come back to fitness.

30th September 2019 at 12:04 am #48819AnonymousSean, I’m not sure all the blame goes to the front lads. I think midfield wasn’t quite good enough, Fabinho aside. The 2 CB’s were immense also as you said and Robertson with the initial block for what I think was likely going to be a goal.. awesome. I think Klopp should go with Milner – Fabinho – Oxlade next match and see if we have a bit more about us. I’m a huge fan of Wijnaldum but I’m not sure if he’s doing enough at the moment and I’d say the same about Hendo. Firmino was quiet the last day too. Not much we can do there though but he’s been very good in the other games, so just a once off I hope. Maybe some credit should go to Sheffield for defending well.

30th September 2019 at 9:54 am #48829AnonymousSean, Watched MOTD and they were singing Matips praises. Specifically his passing into the strikers feet to get things moving quickly to the forwards. I think it’s actually a tactic of Pep and Klop and Sarri. Both Rudiger and Luis used to bang balls into Giroud and hazard from similar positions last year. We just didnt have the players to pull of the high tempo passing, hence why fans got so upset with Sarri and everything going sideways… Liverpool and City do and hence why they run up cricket scores against people.
Its a devastatingly simple tactic tbh… not really a way to cut the ball out either unless the defender is being stood on.
