23rd January 2019 at 3:12 pm #31972Mav, it was 13 shots a piece so I don’t think so but Arsenal were offensively stronger than Chelsea they had a striker in fact they had two strikers. π

23rd January 2019 at 3:14 pm #31973Mikus, Conte wanted control of transfers and to bring in players like 30 year old Sandro for Β£75m and Chelsea were never going to give him that.

23rd January 2019 at 3:28 pm #31979But that’s not the issue Conte wanted full control of transfers and when he didn’t get it he threw his toys out of the pram.I liked Conte but imo he talked himself out of a job and did exactly the same thing over exactly the same issue at Juve too!

23rd January 2019 at 3:37 pm #319829-But why didnt Sarri use Morata and Giroud? Nobody stopped him, right?
ps:Β£75m for a world-class right-back is money well spent,we spent/wasted Β£75m on a useless striker in Lukaku,or as the Irish wasplicker would say-Lackau,lol

23rd January 2019 at 3:52 pm #31983Mav,Morata is going to Atletico and Giroud rarely scores but I would play Giroud on Thursday just to get Hazard in his right position.

23rd January 2019 at 4:16 pm #31986Nine, suppose Conte had been calmer, more charismatic and wasnβt bothered about controlling transfers. Do you really think heβd still be in a job today?

23rd January 2019 at 7:05 pm #31990Playing players out of position at Leicester under Puel has delivered negative effects which include inconsistent results.
The football has been dire and Supporters are beyond the level of frustration.
I believe from what was rumoured sometime back, there was issues in the dressing room with Ranieri and Vardy. Puel to me is authoritarian but clearly, he’s not getting the best out of his team.
I understand versatility and auxiliary which I really feel excited about in a player, but not if it becomes a detriment to the dynamics of the team.
It’ not so much the positions a player has to adapt to, but if he is also told NOT to play in a certain way, then you’re restricting a player to flourish his full potential and that’s when tensions arise and friction in the relationship between Player and Manager.

23rd January 2019 at 7:28 pm #31991‘Player Power’ continues to rise with the level of wealth in circulation as far as this industry goes.
Maybe beneath the surface, some Managers out there would relish a Maverick or a Character that can stamp authority on the Pitch, but comes with that is a person who won’t necessarily like to be told what to do and if he is a serious Top Dog, it’s a challenge to try and maintain his loyalty.
And based on above aside Transfer Fee, Player’s Wage and ‘Royalties’, It’s a safer option to for the Manager to buy a Semi-Finished Article, or a younger player they can develop who effectively mild-mannered and won’t upset the dressing room (that rules out Gazza ;-))

23rd January 2019 at 9:11 pm #31996Nine, Conte may have lasted longer but I suspect it would have come at the price of winning, so heβd have been sacked anyway most probably. Since Chelsea have lost the likes of Terry, Lampard, Drogba, etc (i.e. natural winners that kept the dressing room together), they seem to be struggling to sustain any success. As I say, no team has won back to back titles for 10 years.
