Have to wait until summer it seems now…
Liverpool did not complete Fabio Carvalho deal with Fulham by deadline.
However, if all parties agree there can still be a pre-agreement for the player to move to Liverpool in July. There is no immediate time pressure for that agreement to be reached.— paul joyce (@_pauljoyce) January 31, 2022

31st January 2022 at 11:58 pm #193942Sean, I disagree. Donny is an 8 not a 10

1st February 2022 at 12:07 am #193943Efl rules are stringent compared to the Prem. We live in a Digital world so the ‘paper work’ side shouldn’t have been an issue. Too rush rush re the medical examination which is a bit puzzling as the player was boomeranged back or would have been.
Maybe a blessing. We can get Fabio on a free in the summer as he’ll be out of contract.

1st February 2022 at 7:22 am #193944Ah not to worry Mikuis. If he comes in the summer gray , if not, so be it
When you say 8 foxy? Do you mean 8 in a midfield 3 or in a pivot with two in midfield mate?
Be interesting to see if both start and were they play.

We got Diaz which is great. I really didnβt expect us to sign anyone

1st February 2022 at 7:45 am #193946Carvalho was always one for the future so nothing has really been lost if he still wants to join Liverpool in the Summer but there will be a compensation fee and you can’t rule out other Clubs showing an interest then either. It was always going to be a bit tricky because Fulham were adamant that Carvalho should see the season out with them.
As a general point I never understand the sudden rush by Clubs at the very end of a transfer window to sign players that they could sign at the beginning of the transfer window it never changes irrespective of the Club and the player concerned.

1st February 2022 at 7:50 am #193947Ye thatβs it nine. If he doesnβt want to come in the summer then we move on
Think Newcastle have made some solid signings. Sone players with good pl experience
Not sure about Ali and donny. Still think both canβt play in the same team but letβs wait and see. Everton. Sent needed a centre back.
Bizarre window for Arsenal who have left themselves very short.

1st February 2022 at 7:55 am #193949Newcastle had a decent window however if I was a Newcastle fan I would still be a tad concerned as to whether they have enough goals in them Wood is a decent signing but is primary a target man rather than a goalscorer albeit Newcastle will be stronger defensively thanks to the signings.

1st February 2022 at 8:10 am #193950Sean, more likely than not that Carvalho will sign for Liverpool in the Summer.
Difficult to understand why the Carvalho transfer hit a wall. Chelsea did a deal with Charlton at the last minute for their young striker Mason Burstow which included a loan back to Charlton. Funny old business transfers though.

1st February 2022 at 9:41 am #193951Ye donβt get it nine mate. As you say why leave everything to the last minute. Never understand that.
Ye Newcastle need to keep st maxim fit. Lack of fire power going forward but the Brazilian lad looks good.

1st February 2022 at 10:49 am #193952Sean, haven’t seen anything of Guimaraes but he seems very well rated although he’s a defensive midfielder.
Newcastle haven’t added any goals to their team bar Wood who is not prolific and they’ve only scored 21 in the PL so far this season it looks like they will be more resilient defensively but they will need to score goals too or it will cost them.

1st February 2022 at 11:18 am #193953Sean, I’m not downbeat about it mate albeit, there was late hope raised in some Liverpool fans like me once the deal was back on.
Realistically, you need lots more time. You’re right, we should really have got our backsides into gear, which I think we pretty much did but just couldn’t agree on the fee. Of course, the clock was ticking.
I think a good move which is kind of wishful thinking is a pre-agreement made between the 2 clubs to ensure the move is complete in the summer.

1st February 2022 at 11:22 am #193954Newcastle probable new line up looks significantly improved compared to the last.
Saint-Maximum, is wasted as good as he is playing wide and needs to be the focal point up the top. He’s about goals and it’s others that should be supplying the service to him.

1st February 2022 at 11:26 am #193955Nine, I think with some transfers you simply need that time pressure of an approaching deadline for a breakthrough in negotiations and also for a decision to be have to be made. Many negotiations in all walks of life go to the 11th hour. Or perhaps it is sometimes tactical to try and force a move with time pressure whilst also trying to avoid a bidding war with other clubs if you move too early.

1st February 2022 at 1:03 pm #193963Mikus, agree with that but sometimes the Club’s don’t even decide to try and sign a player until the last day or two of the window.

1st February 2022 at 1:13 pm #193964Nil, re Carvalho pre contract agreements are only applicable across different countries there may be a gentleman’s agreement but it won’t be legally binding other Clubs could come in for him when he becomes a free agent it would then be down to Carvalho.
Promising player and potentially one for the future with Liverpool still most likely in the driving seat to get him.

2nd February 2022 at 12:01 am #193969Sean, I think Donny is not DM, whether that is McFred type role or part of a 3. Donny is an 8 in a midfield 3, essentially box to box or an 8 in a 442 in the style of a Scholes role, slightly more advanced, but not quite a 10. I think he and Dele could complement each other really well as Dele is definitely a 10, especially if Everton use a midfield three of Doucoure, Donny and Dele

2nd February 2022 at 7:54 am #193971But if itβs a midfield 3 then Ali is playing out of position foxy mate. I get what you say about Donny but Ali in on the left in a midfield 3?
If itβs 4-2-3-1 Ali as the ten then donny be part of a two? I canβt see it working mate but time will tell.

2nd February 2022 at 8:13 am #193972Everton are in a much better place now than they were a few weeks ago under Rafa. They should be safe now. I’m still a bit concerned for Newcastle they’ve stiffened up defensively but I’m not sure they’ve got enough goals in them and can Woy save Watford? The fight for the CL places and to avoid relegation is going to be very interesting.

2nd February 2022 at 11:09 am #193973I donβt know about Everton nine mate. I think Roy can get Watford going. Everton badly needed a quality centre back. Newcastle have bought pl experience . Still enough games for everyone to turn it around.
Ye going to be very interesting mate
