“although it seems just about every player we’re linked to are out of contract in the summer anyway… rather than players with 2/3 years… time will tell!”
That’s Daniel for you always looking for a bargain.😊

8th December 2021 at 5:21 pm #190859Be Tuchel’s call Ed I think he’ll stick rather than twist and as threep indicates the real cost of Haaland is likely to be £100m but even at that cost there will be plenty of takers and tbh I wouldn’t rule anything out.😊

10th December 2021 at 2:07 pm #190910Not January but next Summer.
Raiola on Haaland “he can and will take the next step. Bayern, Real, Barcelona, City – these are the big clubs he can go to.
“City have won the championship five times in the last few years, much more than United.
“We all knew when we moved to Dortmund that this step would come.”

10th December 2021 at 3:21 pm #190911Of those 4, only Real or City would pay the kind of wages he would want, I think (despite what I said earlier about thinking he’d suit Bayern). Raiola also said today “Pogba to Bayern? Impossible- they’re not paying this kind of salary” which surely applies to Haaland as much as Pogba. I’d imagine Haaland can probably demand a higher wage than a declining Pogba. Avoiding Raiola is the one silver lining of missing out on a talent like Haaland.
I still think Mbappe is the one Real want, so I’m very intrigued to see what options Haaland will have in the end.

10th December 2021 at 5:31 pm #190912Well Ed, I don’t want him at Chelsea anyway, he is overpriced and overhyped…although if he wants to come to us then we should do everything we can to get him 😀

10th December 2021 at 6:14 pm #190913Problem with Haaland is the baggage he brings with him with Raiola.
Personally I don’t think Chelsea will move for Haaland this Summer and I think Raiola knows that which is why he didn’t name check Chelsea in the list of thr likely Clubs for Haaland .

15th December 2021 at 7:29 pm #191465Tripper looks certain to be coming back to prem, rumours are Newcastle will in to pay 25m and make him their highest paid player…could get some vital assists for newcastle in the second half of the season
Alternate option seems utd, they were in for him in summer and it seems atletico interested in using him as make weight in a deal for martial? Ed, would you take that? Obviously depends on money too.
Any other moves looking like happening?

15th December 2021 at 9:20 pm #191470Yeah I’d be fine with that Lucky. Martial has had enough chances now. A change of scenery may bring out some of that talent that is clearly there but he’s got that Anelka-esque side to him where he just seems to sulk if it’s not going right for him.
Trippier would be a good addition, although Dalot seems to have had a good run now so it’s far from the most crucial position to strengthen for us.

15th December 2021 at 9:31 pm #191473Yeah Ed that’s right re Dalot niw getting plenty if minutes and still young with bag’s of potential, tripper seems less needed now than summer.
I wouldht worry about losing martial either bud he had plenty of time under a few different managers now and is nowhere near the player most people thought he could be when he first cane to prem. Including me to be fair I thought he was going to be amazing.

16th December 2021 at 1:01 am #191484AnonymousIm not sure what kind of purchase Liverpool could make here. We have arguably the best back 5 in the world. Before people freak out, I know they arent quite at their best defensively but they are improving. Of course you have to consider the offensive capability of that back 5 and it’s unmatched anywhere. All 5 of them offer something going forward, which is insane.
Van Dijk’s passing range isnt quite there yet but he’s coming back. Matip has the odd run forward in him, which is surprisingly effective. The 2 lads out wide dont need to be mentioned, and Alisson has pretty good distribution.
Midfield was the area of concern but those 3 are very effective, with Elliott on the way back at some stage. Do we try and sign someone to come in there? I think if we do, they are a squad player as either Elliott or Henderson will own the weakest of those positions, and either will do a damn fine job in there. Fabinho is world class, Thiago is world class. Injuries are our only concern, so again.. squad player signing? I guess we have Milner though.
Forwards? No signings needed. We have 6 players for 3 positions.
Midfield is my only concern but not with regards to quality. All 3 get injuries. Who would be willing to sign for us there though? I dont think we’ll do any business.

16th December 2021 at 6:28 am #191486I’d be surprised if we signed 1 Lucky. I certainly don’t think it will be 2. Potentially, as you say,a centre mid. This Haidara guy from Leipzig seems to be a possible one. Could definitely be some outgoings though. Martial, Lingard, Bailly could all interest sides like Newcastle. I don’t think there will be much movement anywhere aside from Newcastle trying to sign everyone.

16th December 2021 at 8:41 am #191490Yeah Ed as much as there seemed to be a sentiment of “everyone but Newcastle” across the prem, money talks and I am hoping we get 40m+ offer for barkley 😀

16th December 2021 at 8:44 am #191491P.s Ed, if ralf determined to go 442 for rest of the season then a centre mid would be beneficial ASAP imo.

16th December 2021 at 10:30 am #191495Very difficult for the top Clubs to buy players who will improve their squads in January which is why most will keep their powder dry until the Summer.
At the other end of the table Newcastle are desperate but their precarious position will put some players off and they might have to do loan to by deals to overcome that and overcome the fear of players getting stuck in the Championship.

16th December 2021 at 10:41 am #191499Maybe a few players over 30 may be OK with permanent transfer just because of size of contract ie trippier.
