Going by form Maguire, Kane, Sterling, Chilwell were probably quite lucky to be in the side but they were all good last night. Foden again flattered to deceive in an England shirt. I hope it’s just a case of needing to find a way to get the best out of him. I think he always looks a bit overwhelmed and lost in an Englabd shirt.

It just shows it’s not as easy as just going by club form. Southgate has to be able to trust players who have performed for him in the past despite indifferent form for their clubs.

Slightly biased comment here but not intended.
I noticed how much more comfortable City players are on the ball when playing for City as compared when playing for England. Ditto Maguire looks far better playing for England than United.
Reason? Coaching and tactics? Hard to say but it is noticeable.

Stones and Maguire is a good partnership. Don’t like the three at the back thought.

To be fair Ed it would be difficult to judge Chilwells club form if you’ve not seen too much of him over the last couple of months playing for Chelsea but Lucky is right Chilwell has come back really strongly for Chelsea over the last couple of months and often been one of Chelsea’s best players.
