Pagan…it was once normal for a Pro player to have a job outside football, the wages were poor then. I do agree though modern footballers would be hard pressed to keep the work ethic many have to do, to put food on the table and pay the bills. I was just reading that Pogba wants more than 135K a week to sign another contract and be the highest paid at Utd…he is not alone in this. but the amounts are seriously immoral for the work (?) they do in my opinion

11th November 2021 at 9:20 pm #188856It’s all far far from perfect Brian but we are in the same position of every other major football country
I agree though it’s difficult to get excited about playing Albania and San Marino even if it is for a place in the World Cup Finals given its a cluster **** playing it in Qatar.
As you’ve said many times the suits have mucked it up and well and truly this time seemingly on the basis of brown envelopes being passed across the table which makes it even worse.
But we are where we all are.

I know, that is the sad part about it all and when you think of Patini and Blatter now being found out to what we all suspected.

12th November 2021 at 10:35 am #188882Wales claimed a World Cup play off place last night courtesy of the Nation’s League and Spain’s win over Greece it’s an unseeded place and if Wales want a seeded place they will need to finish second in their Group given their fixtures.
Good luck to them and good luck to Scotland tonight away in Moldova ko 5pm live on Sky if anyone is interested.

12th November 2021 at 2:58 pm #188891Brian, there’s no doubt that there’s more risk of injury the more games you play, however the big moan from clubs is international games. The clubs make no money from these which may have a bearing on this.
So there’s two questions
If we get rid of most of the international games would the clubs
A) take the opportunity to spread out the games they have to lessen the chance of player injury?
B) Try and fit in more lucrative European games?

12th November 2021 at 3:31 pm #188895Pagan…it all points to American style football where you can change a whole team during a game!!!!!! I have had the opinion for some time now that the game will see changes on a massive scale to what we have historically known as a game of football, the day is coming my friend, new ways of making money will be developed, I just wish they would leave the game alone and go and find another interest like marbles!!!!!
