I think AJ’s problem, if you want to call it that, was very similair to Frank “Know What I Mean” Bruno’s problem and that is despite being a very gifted boxer technical, and both having a sledgehammer of a punch, neither of them seems (or seemed!) to have that very nasty “bloody-nine” mode, full-on beast rip yer fookin’ head off streak in them.

11th October 2021 at 5:01 pm #186437Yeah agree with you both, Harry/banjo
Think Bruno would have knocked AJ out though and far more likeable imo

11th October 2021 at 5:30 pm #186438I get fed up when players get injured on international duty. I know it is what happens but when I think of who was missing for our first match v Spurs it gets me really annoyed.

11th October 2021 at 5:44 pm #186440Nepolean… my dear old Ma used to work for Bruno’s solicitors in Romford, and often had dealings with him. She often mentioned that he was actually a bit of an arrogant prat (her words, not mine) and the whole TV persona was about as fake as you can get. She was never a fan of boxing anyway, but she always said it was all about the money with him, and he was about as sharp as you can get when it came to the pound signs.

11th October 2021 at 10:20 pm #186452I didn’t want to start another thread, but can’t get my head around this:
We need a reform that supports both club and international football, and a World Cup every 2 years is definitely not the answer.

13th October 2021 at 4:46 pm #186485Not really impressed. Cannot understand why he took Grealish off, he was causing more problems than Kane, Sterling put togather but then again, what do I know?? Stones was our best player and he is a CB!!!! Spirited display by Hungray but relied too much on hope rather than skill. Penalty was correct. Kane/Sterling should have had two goals each, poor finishing. Mount Foden and Rice worked hard but just could not control the game. Like City, England no longer have a striker

13th October 2021 at 8:41 pm #186492Brian, I rarely disagree with your thoughts and I have seen already that I am in the minority side with this (from somewhere else I commented), but from I saw, Grealish was not effective as he was perceived.
Phil Foden a lot better and direct. Grealish ‘teases’ but for me he eventually crosses for the sake of crossing nobody there. I saw in in the second half in taking the ball, rather than the first time square pass, he dribbles. It’s not even that because he’s not actually beating a man at all but is just taking extra touches whilst static in his own space.
I can see why he was taken off though we didn’t really get to see much of Saka and perhaps on another night, he would have been a better link-up with Foden and collectively would have delivered service to Kane.
Strikers sometimes need somebody to help them make something happen for them and that’s what can spurn Kane.

14th October 2021 at 2:14 pm #186499Kane is way out of form having been badly affected by the breakdown of his potential transfer to Manchester City he’s currently in the England team based on his previous club and England goal scoring performances and a good player doesn’t become a bad player overnight so it’s right imo he’s given time.
Kane seemingly will be given time to try and rediscover his previous goal scoring form for both his Club and his country but no one is undroppable and if that doesn’t happen he will get replaced certainly by England.

14th October 2021 at 2:32 pm #186501AnonymousNine, Levy really screwed the pooch and is going to PAY for it. No way City will offer anywhere near what they want ever again.

14th October 2021 at 3:13 pm #186503Mak….Levy looses on two counts. He has a player underperforming and he has lost revenue. I suppose Kane likewise but, just for me I am happy because I did not want the transfer in the first place.
Nil.. Grealish…it is true he was not at his best but at least when he got the ball something happened, you do not have to dribble all the time to be effective I will agree with Southgate though as a collective performance…it was poor. Too many jaded players , why, I do not know. I think Saka was brought on as a better defensive player than Grealish..then promptly nearly gives Hungry a goal and what an tactic…shutting up shop.
Some credit to Hungary though they made a game of it and were not going to be rolled over, that was clear from the start, we just did not “up” our game_____________________________

14th October 2021 at 5:09 pm #186509Levy…too clever by half.
A really clever negotiator would have taken the money and either bought two top players or paid off some of the stadium debt.
As I said once before I believe he became obsessed with the media description of himself as being the toughest out there rather than thinking about the future of the team.
C’est la vie._____________________________
