I thought the U21s were awful yet again. One shot on target I think. Who are worse? the U21s or Newcastle?!
England, I thought played well. Bit of a sitter missed by Kane but of course it happens. The weatherman Alex whatever his name talking about a heatwave. He looks very balanced…A chip on each shoulder. (Ask Piers Morgan). Can’t stand the guy ugh! Must be a Utd supporter?
Thought the back four did well. Shaw is on good form and Stones and Maguire do seem to play well together. Foden and Mount look effective and have no worries about playing their own game.

29th March 2021 at 9:07 pm #176918Ed, Rodgers would be my choice too if we could get rid of the silly “English only rule” when the pool is so shallow and so empty.

30th March 2021 at 11:53 am #176932Sean, I’m definitely with you mate on Trent’s attacking abilities. I felt a few years ago when he broke into the first team, he was hyped by the media. He needs to be nurtured in being able to defend by orthodox.
It’s tricky in getting the balance right, because the modern day right-back is given more emphasis to be more attack-minded.
I’m fully with you on him needing rest which I’m sure practically all our players will benefit from. Agree mate on the standards raised and naturally bound to drop.

30th March 2021 at 2:44 pm #176935Sean, Ireland unfortunately are a bit in the doldrums international βfootball wise currently, if you didn’t see “Finding Jack Charlton” last night you can get it on catch up. Great times for Irish football and of course Big Jack himself lovely fella. Cheers 9’s

1st April 2021 at 7:40 am #176954Got the win we needed yesterday but far from convincing. Can’t be too hard on Stones as he’s had a tremendous season but it’s not the first time he’s messed up like that for England and cost us a goal.

1st April 2021 at 8:25 am #176955Cheers nine, I have the Jack documentary recorded mate.
My first ever Ireland game was jacks first game againest wales. We lost 1-0 and south all broke his leg. Little did we know it was the beginning of the best era for Irish football we have ever known
They really were great times. I went to every home game for 15 years. With my dad, brother, uncle and cousin ..Euro 88 and Italy 90 were great memories mate. We had a lot of English born players who would run through a brick wall for us.
Andy Townsend was a brilliant capstan. Aldo, mcarthy, ray houghton from Scotland, mark lawerson. Throw in Liam Brady, Ronnie whelan, Paul McGrath, bonner, Kevin Moran ,
We had some top class players. Funny thing is Jack be slaughtered these days for his style of play. Long balls into the corners with the forwards bringing the midfield onto play. Non of this playing from the back . It brought outstanding results though and he is an absolute legend in Ireland. I loved it
Really special times. I am all for giving the current manager time. Heβs trying his best. We donβt have a great side etc. Itβs very bad at the minute but Iβd give Kenny more time

1st April 2021 at 8:44 am #176958Important win albeit not a great performance. Felt for Stones he’s been magnificent all season pleased for him that he contributed to the winning goal nice strike by Maguire.
Hopefully he can put that mistake behind him and kick on again.

1st April 2021 at 12:45 pm #176964AnonymousThat goal Werner missed for Germany was insane, it’s almost as if some unseen force is playing games with him, a 10 year old could have scored that.

1st April 2021 at 2:08 pm #176966Sean, it was a rash tackle imo against a player running at speed in the penalty area probably 9 times out of 10 the Referee is going to award a penalty. I think the defenders trailing leg caught Sterling.
Where’s VAR when you need it.π

1st April 2021 at 3:05 pm #176972Next England U21 manager odds
Frank Lampard 2/1
Eddie Howe 15/2
Chris Wilder 9/1
Gary Neville 10/1
Phil Neville 10/1
Ian Foster 12/1
Danny Cowley 12/1
John Terry 14/1
Michael Carrick 16/1
Nicky Butt 18/1
Lee Bowyer 20/1
Scott Parker 20/1
Paul Scholes 25/1
Jamie Carragher 33/1
Wayne Rooney 33/1
Sol Campbell 33/1
Joey Barton 40/1
Michael Owen 40/1
David Beckham 50/1
Alan Shearer 50/1
Dean Smith 50/1
Odds via BetfairI think Frank and Jody would be a good choice to manage the U21’s they’ve both got experience of bringing young players on and the young players would look up to Frank in a way they wouldn’t Boothroyd but as the Editor suggested previously I’m not sure it’s the right role in which for Frank to develop his managerial career.

1st April 2021 at 5:01 pm #176973Ed…coached from….
1.A young age
2 By seasoned pro’sNot a Sterling fan but at least he had a go. penalty? Just about i would say but only in the sense the defender should have known better to go in at a player with speed in the box
