29th May 2018 at 1:28 pm #22421Were there some recent reports of Bale to Spurs? Of course none of us know but that’s always the case with transfer talk ?.
I’d like to see him back in the PL but not with us at the prices quoted. He apparently earns Β£600k a week which even dwarfs Sanchez’s Β£350k a week! You can get 6 Harry Kanes for that

29th May 2018 at 1:41 pm #22422Let’s see…. Bale earns less than that, Sanchez earns more than that, and Harry earns about half of what Bale does and about a third of what Sanchez does… but other than that…. π

29th May 2018 at 1:46 pm #22423Make your mind up. A minute ago, you said none of us know and we’re gimps for reading the reports so how do you know what they earn?! ?
Bale’s salary

29th May 2018 at 1:52 pm #22424Couple of points…
Bale: “could earn upto 350,000 a week”…. this includes bonuses..
Sanchez: “basic weekly wage”….. this doesn’t include bonuses…
Neither article confirms anything! π

29th May 2018 at 4:05 pm #22428Exactly the way I see it too Ed.
Β£200m if that figure is anywhere near accurate for a 29 year old it would be ridiculous imo given his injury record I would be scpeticao at circa Β£80m at his age and injury record.
Balague suggests only the two Manchester clubs and Chelsea could afford him I don’t think that’s true re Chelsea. I think Real will want to keep him and the size of the fee reflects that.

29th May 2018 at 4:11 pm #22429The reason that Sanchez salary is so high is because a player at his level in the last few months of his contract was a snip at the fee paid and he could have left on a free in the Summer and negotiated a massive contract with numerous club’s.
Bale on the other hand would go for a very significant fee as he’s not in the last few months of his contract Apples and Pears.

31st May 2018 at 7:30 am #22447Heard an interesting “rumor” last night about the Toby-gate contract.
Apparently, what has happened was Toby and his squad asked for “X” amount from Levy, who in turn offered “Y” which was rejected. Poncho then got involved and managed to convince Levy to increase his offer to the “X” amount as originally requested. Then Toby and his squad then turned around and rejected “X”, now asking for “Z” instead and basically pissed off both Levy and Poncho….
Think it’s pretty fair to say Toby isn’t getting a new contract and unless Spuds get a decent amount this year, they’re quite happy to to invoke the clause for an extra year and accept 25 next year, with Toby very clearly going to be 3rd in the pecking order behind Jan the Man and Super-Sanchez… may possibly changed if we sign this De-Ligt chap… it all depends on that.
Also “chat” about the rest of the squad being a bit “annoyed” with Toby too… fully intentional or not, it sounds like Toby has burnt his bridges at the Lane!

31st May 2018 at 5:02 pm #22461AnonymousI would love to see Bale back at Spurs that would be the “Big ” signing the faithful are praying for. What with the new ground and hopefully new improved contracts for the usual suspects it would have an enormous effect on the squad and the supporters, but I can’t see it happening .
Baldy has got to be very clever during this window, he will need to up the wage limit considerably as well as attracting the players we need to be taken seriously.Next season will be the toughest yet for CL places , you have to fancy Arsenal as any team with Lacazette and Bammy should be up there.Chelsea will come storming back for sure ,City and Utd will spend big and Liverpool with Keita and Fabinho will be awesome that leaves Spurs, levy will need to break a habit of a lifetime ,bite the bullet and bring the players Poch wants in early and no last day bargains,if not I fear for us,shiny new ground but without a team to challenge, make or break._____________________________

1st June 2018 at 8:51 am #22471Spinning a glass half full on this… π
a) Poncho goes nowhere cause of his new contract…
b) He wants to see us in the new stadium…
c) Fully understands it’s a bit of a poison chalice anyway…
d) The REAL situation is a lot like when Fergie left YooUtd, aging squad mixed in with a pretty decent record that’s going to be hard to match, let alone beat for any manager
e) Due to REAL’S boner for Poncho (don’t we all? π ), this could also be “used” in discussions for BALE for “future” whatnot’s…
f) I really don’t like Perez/REAL…
g) Can’t see Poncho being happy with the “interference” at REAL, compared to what he has at the Spuds, and would think he’ll go when it’s time to top up his pension pot and not before…
h) In a weird way, I’d like to see Wenger there, give that lad one last shot at Big-Ears…
i) Still think ContΓ© is favourite to be honest…
j) Would larff myself silly if Klopp went… (but unlikely, I know!)_____________________________

1st June 2018 at 9:25 am #22473I suspect the new contract prevents any realistic move by Real for Poch. Very timely for Spurs.

1st June 2018 at 10:04 am #22477Chucky it is mate but I’m pretty sure based on previous history Real won’t shift Daniel from the full 5 years of compensation and not even Real will pay that and seemingly there’s no release clause.
Sky Sports News doing their very best to talk it up though.
