Blueson or whoever u are, you do have a point I remember when Chelsea won the CL on penalties, yes it was a good moment but somehow it just did not feel quite right. it’s no wonder they classify those games officially as draws even though the penalties make a team the winners. Not the idle way to lose or win. I wish they could think of a more satisfying method.

16th May 2022 at 11:59 am #196147There used to be an FA Cup final replay years ago if the first one ended in a draw. But there’s no way the modern day calendar could now accommodate such a game. At the end of the day, if both teams fail to score after 120 minutes of football, then you can’t really have any sympathy with them if it ends in a shootout. I was a bit surprised Diaz won the man of the match after failing to convert. Alisson clearly had more impact on Liverpool winning the cup.

16th May 2022 at 4:01 pm #196150If it’s an issue with Penalties which I totally understand, then it’s up to the Manager to differentiate in tactics and style of play, e.g. promote a more attacking style of play and press higher up the pitch.

16th May 2022 at 4:09 pm #196151There has been debate opened on the National Anthem. I don’t remember it being booed in previous FA Cup Finals. On a slightly separate matter, Thatcher’s stature placed in one of the smaller cities in England was defaced within 2 hours.
The Prime Minister was booed too I believe today. I don’t know whether there’s a correlation obviously with Brexit and changes in our society that the people feel they are unfairly treated; especially with a North and South divide.
Personally, I still remain in the thought that this should just have been parked to one side on such a special occasion an ultimately, there’s a time and a place.

16th May 2022 at 6:28 pm #196152The national anthem is sung for the Queen, i.e. the constitutional monarch. Boo the Prime Minister all you want – that’s the point in a constitutional monarchy. You are free to criticise and protest the government, but the Queen as Head of State is a neutral institution whose purpose is to keep the country united and take the pomp & ceremony away from politicians (who would like it very much). So I do despair somewhat when I hear booing of the anthem. And anyone who wishes us to be a republic should be careful what they wish for. Even democratic republics are not the panacea they are always claimed to be.

16th May 2022 at 7:17 pm #196153Good post Mikus. You only have to look at some of the countries who are so called Republic…I would not want us to be like that. The US President probably cost more than the whole Monarchy!!! However, I do think the Monarchy does need to keep up with times and certainly dispense with most of the “hanger-ons” and Courtiers, self serving people. When I served in the RAF I was proud to serve Queen and Country, although it was King the year I joined. If we had to go to war to day I would hate to think of the Woke Warriors in uniform

17th May 2022 at 7:03 pm #196166Very happy with the line up. I wanted this mix of players formed together. E.g. Minamino, Elliot and Curtis Jones. This is the right blend of regular starters and experience. I believe this doesn’t compromise quality.
Come On The Redmen ๐

19th May 2022 at 8:33 pm #196200Maybe Relegation could be settled by goal difference. Leeds are the weakest link; they really have to win at Brentford.

19th May 2022 at 8:48 pm #196203Everton in real trouble now. Last game vs Arsenal away. Can’t see them getting anything out of that at this rate.
