I think England are missing someone who can take on defenses. Bring Grealish on and take off Sterling pease. Foden seems to be doing fantastic. Bring Shaw on and met the team has balanced attacking. Right now the England attack is coming from the right side only.

Not as overly impressed as the pundits are. Not the greatest of games. Didn’t think our forward players offered very much. I’d be exploring different options in the next game. Both sides were actually pretty even in the stats, having a total of 8 shots each, and 2 shots each on target.

It’s genuinely refreshing to see somebody else under the radar being unearthed and taken a chance with. Praise to Southgate for selecting Kalvin Phillips.
Why can’t we see talent beyond 5 or six teams (the breakaway bunch)? It’s a bandwagon of Grealish and Foden, yet this guy comes in and plays out of his comfort zone.
Well played Tyrone Mings and Kieren Trippier, both Disciplined at the back. Not the greatest of performances, true. It’ll take a few matches to really bring out the spark. Main importance is that we get the job done and play with no fear.

I think the heat made it a very tough game to play in I don’t think you’ll get great performances on days like this. Still two tough games to come starting with Scotland on Friday whose passion will give us different problems.

Thatβs the one problem I have with England mikius. The pundits and media go way way overboard when they win then absolutely slaughter the team when they lose. No balance. English media are a horrible bunch

Sean…it is what sells print that is more important to them than reality. As to the match, a young team which I thought did well, it would not have been my selection, then again, everybody has there own ideas as to what it should or should not be. I only watched to see how the City lads played, not that interested and first game I have seen. I will look in on the Scotland game whenever it is played.

I turned off the TV, Sean. The match finished and that’s enough for me. Fatigue. It’s too hot. These Pundits can analyze all the long to keep themselves relevant.
You’re right mate. The first sign of something not going England’s way, and the knives are out from all quarters. I like Southgate in a way. He keeps himself grounded.

I agree Sean, can’t really bear much of the coverage now, either pre match or post match; they just can’t resist the hype. As for the game, yes the conditions were quite hot, but up top it still looked a bit like the forward players just got told to express themselves as opposed to being coached to play and a few hopeful high balls were just floated up field – the goal actually came from deeper in midfield. We’ll see how things develop over the coming games.
