My view on the Czech game. More of the same apethetic displays we’ve seen so far. Saka was a breath of fresh air, seeing someone actually run at players for once. Makes you wonder what Sancho has done to Southgate to not get a start.
Still cannot see the point in Grealish. Continues to hog the ball and slow the play down. If our tactic is to draw fouls and play for set pieces then I get it, but #### me is it boring to watch.

Foxy, grealish is one of the most exciting players in the league and I love watching him. Hits the deck to easily sometimes but he does get fouled a lot

I read Neville said England need to get more on the front foot and be spectacular but England aren’t going to change. They be even more pragmatic againest Germany. Hardly going to turn into a real attacking team now in a one off game.

I’ve been disappointed watching England. It’s just boring with so many talented players. Still I think they can beat Germany. They don’t look great. No one really does except Italy and they haven’t played anyone great

It’s great seeing crowds back. I think var and refereeing (up until
Last night) has been quite good. The football though has been poor at times

I’ve enjoyed watching wales and Holland

Pogba has been one of the best players of the tournament along with bale IMO

I think England have been better than they’ve been given credit for. When England beat Croatia and completely nullified them, everyone was saying how poor this Croatia side were. Croatia completely demolished a decent Scotland side with Modric bossing it.

Love watching Grealish play. I can’t understand why Southgate seems to be overlooking the lads playing in Germany, though. There’s no excuse for Bellingham or Sancho to not have featured more. Sancho, in particular, has probably had the most productive season of all the wide players in the team and he’s not getting a look in. Fair play though in bringing Saka in who looked good.

For all the usual criticism England have been getting, nobody has been great really. I’m surprised you mentioned Wales, Sean. I’ve found them really boring to watch. They’ve hardly had any of the ball and just sit and wait to counter. As you say, Italy are probably the stand out side but they’ve had a pretty easy group.

Also worth mentioning that England were the biggest scorers in Euros qualifying so it’s not correct to suggest that England don’t attack IMO. They’ve been uncharacteristically pragmatic so far in this tournament but I think that’s just Southgate trying to ensure we are solid at the back first and foremost, which I’ve no problem with. Let’s see what we do against Germany. I’m not overly optimistic.

Saka only played well cause of the opposition, his nowhere near Grealishs class. Wait till we play the top countries and you will see. It’s as usual to much praise after one game, We had to work hard to earn a place in the starting 11 and we only got recognition after a good few games of consistency not 1 or 2.

Who did England play in the qualifiers Ed? Who have they actually beaten in a big competitive game since southgate came?
Croatia are no were near the team they were 3 years ago. That was a very easy group for England Ed. One you be expecting to win all day long. England have certainly shown glimpses but They have a wealth of attacking players and yet it’s boring.

I really enjoyed watching wales. A proper team who know their limit’s. They have two stars who have turned up.

Each to their own Sean. That’s the beauty of Football, mate.

Well all the top sides had really easy qualifying groups but England scored 37 goals. France, who everyone raves about scored 25 goals playing 2 games more. Who did France play? Turkey, Iceland, Albania, Andorra and Moldova. All the top sides had easy qualifying groups but England still outscored them all. Belgium scored 3 more, actually, but played 2 games more. They also had a really easy group.

Who have they actually beaten in a big competitive game since southgate came?

No I agree we haven’t won any big games yet with him but he needs to be judged after the tournament, for me. No point bashing him now.

I read somewhere that Southgate and Steve Holland have studied whose won what in international tournaments over the last few years and there’s a consistent pattern of the teams who are solid defensively going on to win the tournament’s and that’s what he’s based his game plan on he certainly won’t go gung ho against Germany and nor should he.

Let’s see how far England can go they’re not scoring enough that’s true but they’re not conceding either and if they can get Kane firing they might have half a chance.

Although it was the group of death none of those top teams really impressed. The England Germany game is too close to call, my choice is Belgium and I think they will be deserving winners should they go all the way.

To be honest Ed, I don’t like watching France either. In general international football is boring.

Hope England and Wales can push on

I think a problem for us is that Gareth doesn’t yet know who his best players are and in some ways the previous games have felt like friendlies with him experimenting different options. So you would again expect several substitutions in the game as he looks to keep tweaking things in order to find the best chemistry between the players, particularly up top. Not ideal when you’re already in a tournament. It’s as though we needed a pre tournament to work all these things out rather than building the airplane whilst it’s already flying.

I really enjoy International football to be honest. I find it a nice break from club football after a long, intense season, often filled with disappointment. I really want England to do something but I’m not as gutted if/when they don’t as I am with my club so I can relax a bit more and just try to enjoy it. Particularly when living abroad also, I really enjoy meeting up with other Englishmen (in my case) and watching all the games (Corona-aside). Always nice to have a bit of banter with the Swedes and others I know of other nationalities also. If England do get past Germany, a potential Quarter with Sweden would be great for me, although horrible if we were to lose.

Ah I’m just that way because Ireland aren’t in it Ed. I like the big tournaments and it’s probs me just having a moan πŸ˜‚

It’s been great to see crowds back and it’s good to have a bit of excitement back for people

If England beat Germany, they have a massive chance to get to the final consideration for the side of the draw you are. It is exciting for England and Wales and I’m just moaning mate. It’s kept me occupied as still a lot of negativity in Ireland due to Covid. Looks like our reopening will be out again and it’s just getting so frustrating now

Denmark has a population of 5.8m and have pcr kits everywhere so people can to restaurants etc but the our government don’t think that kind of testing is sufficient

Absolute pain with it all now.

Yeah it’s so good to see the crowds back. Was brilliant to see the stadiums full in Hungary. Wembley will be great as well with 65k there for the semis and final.

Same here Ed. It’s a nice release from work – feels sort of like a vacation. It’s taken my mind fully off the domestic.

Last year was different because of everything grinding to a halt and we were waiting for the restart.

Refereeing aside, the tournament’s been really good so far – took me at times a little bit back to the 90s πŸ™‚

I am a little concerned for Saka after his excellent first half performance, the media building him up too quickly so they can chop him down like they have done with so many. He appears a level headed lad, like Foden so I hope he does not take media pressure with any regard and just get on with his future. Patience required
