Not sure about that Stevo I’ve seen him hit several great passes for England and I think he did ok last night it was a difficult game to shine for all to shine in due to the way Scotland set up and the passion and commitment they bought to the game and rightly or wrongly I think the game last night probably meant more to the Scotland players than it did to the England players.
Currently we’ve got no one who can score a goal and last night we only had one shot on target which ironically was Mounts. Never thought I would say this but I think Southgate probably needs to leave Kane out v the Czech’s
I’m confident we’ll get out of the Group but I never thought we would win it as there will be better teams than England laying in wait in the latter stages.

I agree with Kane but donโt see rashy as much of an improvement? We need a style of play abs to play players in their best positions even if it means a big name drops out

Admittedly many of us, yours truly included build up for this ‘event’. England v Scotland is something that was spoken about when we were growing up in school.
All the bringing up of Gazza and Euro 96 was down to our last showdown and commemorating 25 years.
The Weather was a pure let down.
What bugs me the most is the way a few of our players are placed on a Pedestal and hyped. They don’t turn up when it comes to the big occasion and deliver. In my eyes, this was a Box Office event even though in context of the tournament it was just a group game.
I don’t care at all what their club shirt is. I don’t have a particular preference or a favourite as such, other than those players who do a great job defensively and rarely get a mention.
We should qualify. But we really need to be aware and not take any opposition for granted, otherwise we’ll be undone and Game Over.

I don’t know who else Southgate could have played to make the team stronger, maybe by starting Grealish and later replacing Kane with Calvert who I think is very underated. Can’t really think any other current player would make much difference on the night.

Itโs an over reaction again. England werenโt great againest Croatia but win yet the usual bullshit of England Ste brilliant was being spouted by the media and pundits. They then draw last night and now they are rubbish. Just not objectivity
As Mike says itโs a point and the goal is to get to the next round
Has southgate actually beaten a really top side in a competitive game since he came in? I like him but Neville saying he is Englandโs best asset is absolutely astounding
Problem is everyone wants to see England plsy good attacking football. They donโt. Heโs to conservative with the players he has. This is the best England team on paper in a longtime yet itโs just boring to watch
He got England to a semi final but who did they beat? Sweden and Colombia ..:
First decent team they played, they got beaten.

Thatโs it notnice. Southgate made changes most of the pundits called for. And it made no difference because the problems are much deeper. Players affected by their own hype along with a manager with no real philosophy. But hey, perhaps another โroot and branchโ enquiry will help after the tournament.

Sean, we even got outplayed by Sweden and Colombia! I agree, he has beaten no big teams in big comps so far. Croatia are no longer a big team. Beat Spain and Belgium in the Nation’s League but no one seems to take that seriously.

I agree the team wasnโt bad but either what they asked to do or how they play is wrong or just about every player needs to take a long look at themselves
How many of that 11 would be valued ยฃ80 m + ?
Look at whales 2 world class and they compliment each other

Ferret is not in the same class as other managers, his more of a spokesman to diffuse a situation, should maybe have been given a different job. I’m sure I could have selected a team that would have pipped Scotland. Why is Jane suddenly not playing well, its up to the manager to get him firing or replace him with a proper striker, like for like.

Nine….Mount…lovely pass….but it did not change the game in the way I am meaning. In my mind he is a good attacking midfielder but not player who would control a game like a Kante, Silva, KDB and a few more but he is young and will develop and get better. I hope he does for Englands sake, we need talented players

Brian, apologies I wish I hadn’t used that example tbh it sounded very triumphalist which was not my intention.
Mount rarely has a bad game for Chelsea or indeed England for that matter and he’s still young and developing with only 2 seasons PL experience behind him so he will only get better imo.

Just come back from work so just catching up on BBC highlights; good to see Kai Havertz on the scoresheet and of course, Ronaldo – still got it.
Looks like I missed a good game this afternoon.
Hope for a good game this evening between Spain and Poland. Lots of goals.
Thinking about the surprising result earlier with France – didn’t expect that at all.
Maybe as far as this tournament goes, there is room for unpredictability.

Nine…no worries friend….I said Mount was a good player and one for the future but he is still young and needs to learn how to control games , he has the capability, in time but not at the moment. Like with others, the Euros will be good experience for World Cup next year. I have never had much interest for European Cup although I did watch Hangary v Germany because I thought it would be a good game….and it was.
